Abstract: The present invention comprises a thermocatalytic cracking process for the production of diesel oil from a charge of vegetable origin made from seeds of oleaginous plants in refineries possessing at least two FCC reactors. At least -one of such reactors processes heavy gas oil or residue under conventional conditions whilst at least one of such reactors processes the charge of vegetable origin made from seeds of oleaginous plants under conditions suitable, for production of diesel oil. Said process employs the same catalyst utilised in the fluid catalytic cracking process which, simultaneously, processes a conventional charge. The diesel, or biodiesel, oil produced by means of said process is of superior quality having a cetane number exceeding 40 given that the cracking reactions occur at low temperatures and the products obtained are less oxidised and consequently purer than products obtained by means of existing technology.

Abstract: A process is described for increasing the storage stability of biodiesel by metering a liquid stock solution which comprises 15 to 60% by weight of 2,6-di-tert-butylhydroxytoluene dissolved in biodiesel into the biodiesel to be stabilized up to a concentration of 0.005 to 2% by weight of 2,6-di-tert-butylhydroxytoluene, based on the overall solution of biodiesel.

Abstract: A plant tie and a chain of plant ties are disclosed. The plant tie can include an expandable portion, such as a length of tape, and two twistable portions, such as two lengths of wire. The expandable portion can span a gap between the twistable portions. The plant tie can be wrapped around a portion of a plant and secured in place by twisting the twistable portions. Once in place, the plant tie can expand to accommodate movement and/or growth of the plant to which it is attached. The disclosed chain of plant ties can include multiple individual plant ties linked in series for ease of manufacture and use.

Abstract: During or closely following harvesting of the cane plant, each plant is trimmed by removing the nodes and associated leaves, thereby forming raw tubes from each remaining internode segment. The raw tubes are artificially dried and then exposed to artificial light, to produce finished tubes. The improved process reduces the time between the harvesting of a plant to the completion of a finished tube, from a period that is typically measured in months to a period measured in weeks. Furthermore, it has been found that the artificial drying is so effective that harvesting and processing of the reed cane can continue throughout the year, thereby increasing productivity and responsiveness to fluctuations in demand.

The garden bed assembly includes at least one raised garden bed planter box for containing suitable planting soil or other growing media. Each section has an open rigid frame and an open mesh material such as poultry wire or hardware cloth, extending thereacross to permit sunlight as well as pollinating bees to enter the assembly while prohibiting unwanted creatures such as a gophers, rabbits and other animals from gaining access to the growing plants in the garden bed box.

Abstract: A mobile gardening planter includes a plant container and a drainage system that is adapted for both dripless operation and drip-drain operation. The drainage system includes a drain cap inside the plant container that has holes preferably only in a vertical side of the drain cap for indirectly draining water out of the plant container into a drain pipe extending outside and across the bottom wall of the plant container. A generally vertically-extending sight tube fluidly communicates with the drain pipe so that the water level in the sight tube is the same as the water table level in the plant container, and the gardener may therefore monitor the water table. The open top end of the sight tube allows water to overflow the sight tube, to prevent undesirable over-watering. The sight tube is preferably shielded by a portion of the planter, and most preferably a portion of the frame, that extends outward from the plant container farther than does the sight tube.
