Abstract: In a method of making insulated concrete tilt-up panels, an insulating material such as polystyrene is formed into a desired shape corresponding to the panel shape. Attachment grooves are formed across the surface of the insulating material. Preferably, the attachment grooves have a substantially triangular cross-section. The insulating material is laid groove-side-up in a concrete form and wet concrete is poured into the form. The concrete fills the grooves, attaching the insulation to the concrete panel. When the concrete is cured, the panel may be stood up and set in place so that the insulating material forms the exterior surface of the panel. A finishing material may be applied to the exterior surface of the panel. A panel set for use in constructing low-income residential housing includes four concrete tilt-up panels. The insulating material and concrete forms may be prepared in the quantity desired for the entire construction project and transported to a casting area at the construction site.

Abstract: Internal Combustion (IC) Engines and Gas Turbines are the machines built to convert the chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy via an exothermic reaction, known as Combustion or rapid oxidation. The combustion involves reaction of constituents of fuel with Oxygen. As on date, atmospheric air is considered as techno-economically the best source of Oxygen. However, Oxygen is only a small fraction of the air and thus bulk of the air is a burden on the energy conversion process with consequential loss of operating efficiency of the respective equipment. This Invention entails improvement in operating efficiency of IC Engines and Gas Turbines on enhancing the oxygen contents or Oxygen enrichment of the air supplied to the respective equipment for combustion of the fuel. This enhancement of Oxygen content or Oxygen enrichment of combustion air is accomplished by addition of Oxygen obtained from an Oxygen Generator.

Within these cavities 4, an evaporatable liquid 5 is arranged such that a proportion of the liquid 5 is in a gaseous phase in order to facilitate heat transfer between the inner surface 2 or the outer surface 3 and a hot surface. The liquid condenses upon the inner surface 2 or the outer surface 3 and collects into a pool for subsequent further evaporation by the hot surface of an insulated gate bi-polar transistor or convertor/generator components in order to facilitate further cooling of electric components housed or arranged in the nacelle 1 or nearby.

Abstract: The reduction of a NOx trap upon engine shutdown is disclosed. One disclosed embodiment comprises detecting an engine shutoff, determining an engine stop position, and creating a reductive environment in the exhaust conduit upstream of the lean NOx trap at a time based upon the determined engine stop position. The creation of a reductive environment in the exhaust conduit upstream of the lean NOx trap may help to at least partially reactivate the lean NOx trap during engine shutoff.

Abstract: A lean NOX trap is a diesel exhaust aftertreatment system is selectively denitrated when a measure relating to NOX loading, remaining NOX storage capacity, or performance of the exhaust aftertreatment system or a portion thereof comprising the lean NOX trap reaches a critical value. The critical value is determined based in part on conduciveness of current conditions to regenerating the lean NOX trap. Accordingly, denitration is scheduled based on a balance between the urgency of the need to regenerate and conduciveness of current conditions to regeneration. The stopping point for regeneration can also be selected based on conduciveness of current conditions to regeneration. The method maintains exhaust aftertreatment performance while reducing regeneration fuel penalty.

Abstract: The fuel qualities for vehicles differ, for example, in Europe on a regional basis. This applies in particular to the sulphur content of the fuel. If vehicles with modern lean engines or with diesel engines which are equipped with nitrogen oxide storage-type catalytic converters in order to reduce the nitrogen oxide content in their exhaust gas pass through regions with a sulphur content in the fuel which is above the sulphur content which is specified for the vehicle, the engine controller will correspondingly frequently initiate desulphurization of the storage-type catalytic converter after the vehicle has been refuelled with this fuel. Any desulphurization entails an increased level of fuel consumption and greater ageing of the catalytic converter. It is proposed to avoid these adverse effects in that in lean motors the engine controller switches to stoichiometric operation in such a case, and in a diesel engine said engine controller prevents the desulphurization.
