  • Publication number: 20090056342
Abstract: A method and system for operating at partial load a gas turbine system having a compressor, a combustor, and a turbine. The method and system may include the steps of lowering a flow of fuel to the combustor, extracting air from the compressor so as to lower a flow of air to the compressor, and returning the extracted air to the turbine or a component of the gas turbine system other than the combustor. Extracting air from the compressor raises a combustion temperature within the combustor. Raising the combustion temperature maintains a combustion exhaust below a predetermined level, maintains stable combustion, and extends turbine turndown values.

Abstract: The present invention provides a conduit trap, which can also operate as condensation recovery device when installed in a refrigeration system drainage line. The conduit trap is generally a hollow body defining a fluid path that includes an upper conduit 20, having a waste outlet 30 and optionally a condensation collection outlet 32. A lower conduit 22 extends downwardly from the upper conduit and has a narrowing that creates an inner sealing region for receiving a sealing means, such as float 50. Condensation can be directed from the refrigeration system through the conduit trap for recovery or for disposal without exposing the refrigeration drainage line and occupied space in which the refrigeration unit is located to sewer gasses even in dry weather when a gravity based, fluid-filled trap would fail.

Abstract: Disclosed is a successively manufactured jewel holding claw A and a jewel assembly held by the claw. The jewel holding claw includes a plurality of jewel holding pieces 1 successively formed in such a manner that they are spaced at a predetermined interval from each other; and circular ring connecting parts 2 formed between the jewel holding pieces 1 spaced from each other, wherein the jewel holding pieces 1 and the circular ring connecting parts 2 are repeatedly connected with each other so as to form a structure with a strand-shape successively manufactured. It is possible to manufacture the jewel holding claw in a successive shape, and the user can cut the jewel holding claw, which has been successively manufactured, to a predetermined length to be used. Therefore, anyone can perform an operation of holding jewelry without a need for manufacturing a jewel holding frame, regardless of skill so that low cost in holding jewelry is secured.

Abstract: A modular setting diamond jewelry includes a noble metal base with the bottom thereof being in a shape of taper. A plurality of diamond holes is defined in the top of the noble metal base for receiving diamonds therein. A protrusion is formed between each two adjacent diamond holes which locate at the circumference of noble metal base. The peripheral setting diamonds abut against the central diamond with inner edges thereof. The outer edge of each peripheral diamond is aligned to the peripheral edge of the noble metal base. One diamond hole is defined in the center of the noble metal base, and eight diamond holes are defined around the central diamond hole.

Abstract: A bracelet is made from a clasp and multiple linking pieces (that may be a charm, link or watch) and each of the linking pieces has a male end with a lip and a notch on its bottom side and a bar held in a female end to create a defined opening. Two linking pieces of the bracelet are interlinked to one another by inserting the notch of a first piece in the defined opening of a second piece when an insertion angle formed between the bottom sides of the two pieces is less than ninety degrees and then increasing the insertion angle to greater than ninety degrees so that the bar of the second piece is retained within the notch of the first piece and cannot be removed unless the insertion angle is decreased to less than ninety degrees. The clasp can be a one-piece clasp or a two-piece clasp, both of which will link to a female link end of a first link and a male end of a second link.

Abstract: A method of making a fused silica article having a combined concentration of protium and deuterium in a range from about 1×1016 molecules/cm3 up to about 6×1019 molecules/cm3. In some embodiments, deuterium is present in an amount greater than its natural isotopic abundance. The method includes the steps of providing a fused silica boule, diffusing at least one of protium and deuterium into the boule, and annealing the boule to form the fused silica article. A method of diffusing hydrogen into fused silica and a fused silica article loaded with hydrogen formed by the method are also described.

Abstract: The regionally coated noble metal element used in glass production has an uncoated region for contacting a glass melt and an H2-impervious layer or an H2-impervious and O2-impervious layer on a side opposite from the uncoated region, which has a layer thickness?1 mm, is heat-resistant, liquid or solid. This layer is made from at least one glass or glass mixture, an at least partly crystallized glass or a ceramic material. The coated noble metal element can be a Danner channel, a Vello draw head, an A-draw head, a Vello needle, a drawdown needle, a discharge ring or a Danner blowpipe. Abstract: A random array of holes is created in an optical fiber by gas generated during fiber drawing. The gas forms bubbles which are drawn into long, microscopic holes. The gas is created by a gas generating material such as silicon nitride. Silicon nitride oxidizes to produce nitrogen oxides when heated. The gas generating material can alternatively be silicon carbide or other nitrides or carbides. The random holes can provide cladding for optical confinement when located around a fiber core. The random holes can also be present in the fiber core. The fibers can be made of silica. The present random hole fibers are particularly useful as pressure sensors since they experience a large wavelength dependant increase in optical loss when pressure or force is applied.
