  • Patent number: 7510354
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting tool including a basic body and a cutting insert detachably connected to the basic body via an interface, which includes a pair of co-operating connecting surfaces in which engagement means are included, which may be in the form of knobs and seatings. A knob and a co-operating seating have a rotationally symmetrical, conical shape to prevent translation of the cutting insert in the plane of the interface. Another knob ensures that the cutting insert cannot be rotated in relation to the conical knob. Simultaneously, ample bearing surfaces abut against co-operating support surfaces in a connecting surface. In such a way, the cutting insert is fixed in a stable, non-overdetermined position in the basic body. Furthermore, the invention relates to a cutting insert as such.

  • Patent number: 7510380
Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus and methods for balancing stacked components of rotating machinery, such as in a gas turbine engine. Unlike conventional processes and devices for balancing stacked components, the present invention may use a single non-parallel spacer for obtaining an acceptable and repeatable component group balance. The non-parallel spacer may be used to compensate for rotor bow and the associated imbalance of the rotor group. By indexing a spacer with non-parallel faces, situated terminally at the end of the stack adjacent to the nut, rotor balance can be achieved without disassembly of the rotor group and clocking of its individual components. A spacer may also be disposed at any one or more of the interfaces between various components in the stack.

  • Patent number: 7510392
Abstract: An injection molding system and injection molding method for making molded parts that include one or more planar heaters having a thin or a thick film resistive heater element coupled, secured, or releaseably secured to one or more sides of each of the one or more injection molding nozzles. The releasably secure coupling allows heater device to be visually inspected, tested, removed, and/or replaced. The planar heater device can have a support device patterned with a film electrical resistive path. The electrical resistive path can include any pitch or number of electrical resistance lines, such that a longitudinal uniform heat profile is generated along a melt flow channel of the one or more injection molding nozzles when the nozzles are in use. In some examples, the planar heater has more than one film resistive heater element that can be coupled to one or each side of a nozzle, with dielectric material interposed between the planar film resistive heater elements.

Abstract: To facilitate cleaning of melt channels in a runner system (102) in a centre-section carrier (20) or the like, a multi-piece interface adaptor (114, 116, 118) is detailed in FIG. 4. A male portion(114) of the interface adaptor (112) is securely coupled to the runner system (102) to extend the melt channel (63) thereof. The male portion (114) preferably includes a branching feature (124) that splits melt flow into opposing directions to feed distinct nozzles (60, 62). A female portion (116) of the interface adaptor includes bores (144, 146) that align with the branching feature (124, 134, 136) and support the mounting of nozzles (60, 62) therein. The female portion (116) is fixedly secured within the carrier (20). The male portion (114) and the female portion (116) are slidably engageable with one another along sealing surfaces (130, 220). At system operating temperatures, effective operational sealing occurs as a result of relative thermal expansion between the male portion (114) and the female portion (116).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hand tool used by dental professionals to polish a patient's tooth. The hand tool can be connected to a hand motor used to rotate a wheel cup with a plurality of grinding wings that rub against the patient's tooth as a predetermined amount of dentifrice material is discharged directly on the patient's tooth through a drain hole within the wheel cup. The dentifrice material is discharged from a tube that is assembled in the housing of the hand tool. The tube has a plurality of folds formed on the tube body in such a manner as to be folded by a given distance while being compressed to discharge the dentifrice material therefrom. The tube is compressed by a link with a push button that is guided in the forward direction as it is pushed by a finger.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for providing implants in the upper jaws of a person. A sleeve is inserted through the alveolar ridge to the maxillary sinus. The sleeve is used to raise the subantral membrane and form a cavity. A filler, such as a bone growth stimulant is injected through the sleeve into the cavity. In the process, the sleeve also can cut and/or condense the bone around itself so that the bone can hold an implant. Optionally, the bone growth stimulant is also introduced into the bone surrounding the sleeve. During the injection, the pressure within the sleeve or the cavity is monitored to detect and prevent the rupture of the subantral membrane.
