Abstract: In a cylinder throw-on/off apparatus for a printing press, a cylinder throw-on/off motor is driven while the notch of a blanket cylinder opposes the notch of a plate cylinder to throw on/off the blanket cylinder with respect to the plate cylinder, and driven while the notch of the blanket cylinder opposes the notch of an impression cylinder to throw on/off the blanket cylinder with respect to the impression cylinder. A throw-on operation control unit drives the cylinder throw-on/off motor, to control throw-on operation of the blanket cylinder for the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder. A motor drive amount calculation unit obtains a drive amount of the cylinder throw-on/off motor, while controlling the throw-on operation of the blanket cylinder, in accordance with the rotation phase of the printing press.

Abstract: Pyrotechnic signaling means (10) are ignited manually by pulling on a pulling member (24). In known pyrotechnic signaling means (10), the pulling member (24) has a short cable which is knotted to an operating means (26). A knot such as this can be produced only manually, thus making the production of pyrotechnic signaling means (10) quite complex. In addition, an ignition device (14) for known pyrotechnic signaling means (10) has a hole through it for a firing bolt (36) which is connected to the pulling member (24). This allows moisture to enter the pyrotechnic signaling means (10) through the ignition device (14). The pyrotechnic signaling means (10) according to the invention provides for the pulling member (24) to be formed from flexible strip-like sections (48, 50), which are connected by film hinges (54) and can be collapsed, saving space, when not in use.

For example, seat covers for the upright back of school bus seats include a strip panel coupled between two facing panels. The strip panel is adapted to cover the top and opposite ends of the seat back and the two facing panels are adapted to cover the front and rear faces of the seat back. The strip panel portion of seat covers for seats located adjacent an emergency exit include a tactile feature. The tactile feature distinguishes emergency exit row seats from seats from those seats that are not located adjacent an emergency exit.

Abstract: Provided is a method for growing a silicon ingot. According to an exemplary method, the method includes charging silicon in a quartz crucible, melting the silicon by heating the quartz crucible and applying a magnetic field of 500 Gauss or higher in the quartz crucible, and growing a single crystalline silicon ingot from the melted silicon while applying a magnetic field lower than 500 Gauss in the quartz crucible. As a result, by appropriately controlling the internal pressure of the quartz crucible or the application time and the magnitude of the magnetic field, it is possible to easily accelerate crystallization of the internal surface of the quartz crucible to thereby prevent flaking of the crystals. Consequently, it is possible to grow the silicon ingot of good properties.

Abstract: The present invention is directed towards the holding of medical devices during manufacture to enable the application of therapeutic and/or protective coatings. More specifically, the present invention provides medical device holders that securely retain stents and other medical devices during the application of a coating while minimizing compressive and tensile forces applied to the stents. The invention avoids disruptions to coating quality due to holder blockage during coating deposition. The invention discloses an improved device containing a mandrel and frame that may improve coating uniformity by eliminating shadowing from the frame of the medical device holder when applying coatings to stents and other medical devices.

Abstract: In a method for using a film formation apparatus for a semiconductor process, process conditions of a film formation process are determined. The process conditions include a preset film thickness of a thin film to be formed on a target substrate. Further, a timing of performing a cleaning process is determined in accordance with the process conditions. The timing is defined by a threshold concerning a cumulative film thickness of the thin film. The cumulative film thickness does not exceed the threshold where the film formation process is repeated N times (N is a positive integer), but exceeds the threshold where the film formation process is repeated N+1 times. The method includes continuously performing first to Nth processes, each consisting of the film formation process, and performing the cleaning process after the Nth process and before an (N+1)th process consisting of the film formation process.

Abstract: An animal bedding mixture is disclosed herein. The animal bedding mixture includes a bedding material and a bedding material additive. Bedding material is preferably straw, sawdust, sand or recycled manure solids. The bedding material additive is preferably 60-99% by weight absorbent clay powder, 0.1 to 35% by weight chlorite salt, and 0.01-35% by weight sodium bisulfate or sodium percarbonate. The bedding material additive of the present disclosure is inert when dry and neither germicidal or acidic. However, when the additive is exposed to moisture, such as animal urine, the sodium bisulfate will acidify the liquid, causing the formation of hypochlorous acid and chlorine dioxide. Hypochlorous acid and chlorine dioxide are very powerful, broad spectrum germicides that have proven efficacy against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and other micro-organisms commonly found in animal bedding.

Abstract: A system that allows humans to interact with and send touch remotely to their pets. The system has a tangible interface for humans that allow both visual and tactile modes of communication on one end, and a haptic pet wearable jacket on the other end. It allows humans to interact remotely with pets even when they are not physically at the same place as the pets. On the tangible interface for humans, human views the real time movement of the pet in the form of a pet doll sitting on a mechanical positioning system. The movement of the actual pet is tracked using a web camera. The pet doll has embedded touch sensing circuit that senses and transmit data wirelessly to the computer. This touch data is sent across the Internet to another computer which is connected to the haptic pet wearable jacket. The real pet wears the pet jacket, which is able to reproduce the touching sensation via vibrating motors. The pet owner can tangibly touch the pet doll, sending touch signals to the pet in a remote location.
