Abstract: In a fluid system for a gas turbine engine, oil is supplied from an oil tank (10) by a constant displacement pump (12) to lubricate engine components (18). The oil is supplied to the components (18) via a heat exchanger (16) in which oil and fuel are placed in direct heat exchange relationship. The flow of oil to the components (18) is controlled by recirculating a proportion of the oil flow through a bypass (20). The bypass (20) regulates the flow of oil to the components (18) so that the amount of heat transferred to the fuel in the heat exchanger (16) is controlled. At low engine powers a greater proportion of the oil flows through the bypass (20) to reduce the oil flow to the components (18). This reduces the heat transferred to the fuel in the heat exchanger (16) and so prevents overheating of the fuel.

Abstract: A method for setting a predetermined oxygen filling value of an oxygen storage reservoir of a catalytic converter for a motor vehicle, the oxygen filling value being set with consideration of a combustion air ratio which has been determined depending on the raw emission values which have been determined or which are to be determined for the exhaust gas components which are to be oxidized and reduced by the catalytic converter.

Abstract: An exhaust gas purification device (101, 102, 103) having a DPF (33) provided in an exhaust system (30) of an internal combustion engine. The device has one or more sound pressure measurement means (8F, 8R) for measuring exhaust sound pressure and calculation means (10) for calculating the amount of PM accumulation based on the exhaust sound pressure measured. On the upstream side of the DPF (33) are arranged exhaust gas temperature measurement means (36) and exhaust gas temperature raising means (34). The exhaust gas temperature raising means (34) is activated when the amount of PM accumulation calculated by the calculation means (10) is higher than a preset default and at the same time when the exhaust gas temperature measured by the exhaust temperature measurement means (36) is lower than a lower limit of a temperature region in which the DPF (33) can be regenerated.

Abstract: To remove the nitrogen oxides from the exhaust gas from lean-burn engines, these engines are equipped with a nitrogen oxide storage catalyst, which has to be regenerated frequently by the engine being briefly switched to rich-burn mode. The regeneration is usually initiated when the nitrogen oxide concentration downstream of the catalyst rises above a permissible value. In this context, there is a risk of the bed temperature of the catalyst during and after regeneration being pushed into a range with incipient thermal desorption of the nitrogen oxides on account of the heat which is released during the conversion of the nitrogen oxides by the reducing constituents of the exhaust gas. This can lead to increased nitrogen oxide emission both during the regeneration itself and after the engine has been switched back to lean-burn mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods for updating the PF soot load of an engine are provided herein. In one embodiment, the method may include performing regeneration in response to both pressure-based measurements as well as estimated soot loading independent of the pressure-based measurements, where during conditions in which the pressure-based measurements may be inaccurate, the soot load is estimated based on operating conditions and previous pressure-based measurements that occurred during previous conditions in which the pressure-based measurements are more accurate. In this way, more continuous monitoring of particulate filter loading is provided, while taking advantage of pressure-based measurements from the most recent accurate reading, for example, and operating conditions that have transpired since such reading, including transient conditions. Thus, more appropriately timed regeneration may be provided.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine in which a main SOx trap catalyst (11) able to trap SOx contained in exhaust gas is arranged in an engine exhaust passage, and the exhaust passage downstream of the main SOx trap catalyst (11) is divided into a main exhaust passage (13) and a bypass passage (14) bypassing the main exhaust passage (13). An NOx storage catalyst (15) is arranged in the main exhaust passage (13), and an auxiliary SOx trap catalyst (16) is arranged in the main exhaust passage (13) upstream of the NOx storage catalyst (15). Normally, the exhaust gas is made to flow in the main exhaust passage (13). When regenerating the main SOx trap catalyst (11), the exhaust gas is made to flow through the bypass passage (14).

Abstract: The task for the present invention is to reduce more of an oxide that is stored in a NOx storage reduction catalyst, even in a case where a clogging has occurred in a reducing agent adding valve that is provided in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine. The present invention is provided with rich spike control performing means that, when an oxide that is stored in the NOx storage reduction catalyst is reduced, performs a rich spike control and that, when lowering the air-fuel ratio in the exhaust gas, performs addition of a reducing agent by the reducing agent adding valve multiple times, which is performed when a crank angle of the internal combustion engine is in a specified range. When the clogging has occurred in the reducing agent adding valve, the number of times the air-fuel ratio in the exhaust gas is lowered while the rich spike control is being performed by the rich spike control performing means is increased.
