Abstract: An electrically powered surgical instrument includes a surgical end effector having a surgical procedure effecting actuation assembly. A handle is coupled with the end effector. An electric motor is disposed within a shell of the handle and has power terminals and a drive train actuating the assembly when the motor is supplied with power. A break-before-make power supply switch at the handle selectively controls supply of power to the motor. A post-termination braking circuit electrically short-circuits the power terminals when the switch does not supply power to the motor. A method for post-termination braking of an electrical motor utilizes the permanent magnetic field of the motor to counteract an inertia-induced over-stroke characteristic of the motor, drive train, and/or actuation assembly after powered operation by short-circuiting the still-spinning motor to create an electrically generated magnetic field in opposition to the permanent magnetic field upon ceasing supply of power to the motor.

The improved magnetic card reader and assembly process are designed in a way to protect information and secret processes, stored by electronic means, against unauthorized access.

Abstract: A method for displaying the result in an improved manner in the case of collectively reading in and recognizing a plurality of 1D color bit codes is provided. A “recognized data” as a result of recognizing a code symbol and a “corresponding pattern specific display” indicating the successfully recognized code symbol are displayed in such a manner as superimposed on the original image. The recognized data is a data successfully recognized from the code symbol. The corresponding pattern specific display is a graphic pattern for indicating a finally successfully recognized code symbol, such as a rectangular frame (utilizing a conspicuous color, e.g., orange and the like), etc. By virtue of such a display, the operator is able to know which code symbol was recognized and what the recognition result is, and thereby a highly convenient optical recognition code recognizer and method can be obtained.
