End edges (141, 151) of the second rectilinear section and the third rectilinear section, respectively, are positioned within a region surrounded by the first rectilinear section (130), the fourth rectilinear section (160), and the connection section (170). The first bend section (110) is located, in the longitudinal direction, at substantially the same position as the second bend section (120), or alternatively, the first bend section (110) and the second bend section (120) are located at positions close to each other with a spacing equal to or less than the diameter of the wire material of the clip held between them.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a weather resistant slide fastener with a modified slider body including a top control rib and tightly controlled inner dimensions. In embodiments, a water-resistant coating and/or an adhesive may be applied to the zipper tape, resulting in a highly water-resistant zipper and finished garment. Embodiments further provide a slider body that may accommodate longitudinal edge portions of the outer layer of fabric, allowing the edges of the fabric to be brought into close proximity/contact, substantially covering the zipper teeth and minimizing ingress of water and/or wind through the zipper tape. Additional embodiments provide methods of manufacturing and installing weather resistant slide fasteners.

Abstract: A slider is provided with an outer guide which closes a zipper by sliding movement of the slider and an inner guide which opens the zipper by the sliding movement and which is formed revolvable on the outer guide, and a method for supplying sliders is provided wherein the sliders are not entangled with each other and are not clogged when they are supplied under a condition wherein the inner guide is revolved to the outside. The slider 10 being supplied has a groove 13c formed by an inner guide 13 protruding upwards from the upper surface 12c of a slider body 11 and extending in parallel with an axis A, a flat guide plate 40 which is disposed between a slider supplying machine and a slider assembling machine engages with the groove 13c so that the upper surface 12c directs in a vertical direction and at the same time, side surfaces 12d of adjacent sliders support the slider 10 facing each other in a hanging down condition, and align and guide them in a line in a fixed direction.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for shortening a shoe/boot lace, while retaining the aglets in place, are disclosed. The principle of the disclosure involves cutting a portion from the central part of the lace between the aglets, tying a knot(s) into both cut ends and threading the part laces through apertures in a housing to create a continuous, but shorter, lace. The shoe/boot may now be re-laced with the housing located at a suitable point, usually midway between the first pair of eyelets. The principle of the invention may be used in a purely functional way and/or to produce artistic effects on the footwear.

Abstract: An ultrasonic load measurement transducer is mated with a thread-forming fastener to provide a load indicating thread-forming fastener that can be used for the precise and reliable assembly of critical bolted joints, such as those in the automobile and aerospace industries, among others. Steps can then be taken to accurately measure and control the load in the thread-forming fastener during tightening, and to inspect the load in the thread-forming fastener after assembly. A similar result can be achieved for a thread-locking fastener by mating an ultrasonic transducer with the thread-locking fastener assembly.

Abstract: An inexpensive, easy to use, convenient, and effective tool kit and method of use are disclosed for removing broken spark plug components from a cylinder head. The tool kit includes a rigid wire that can be wedged into the central hole of a broken insulator component, allowing withdrawal of the insulator, and a tapered drill that can bite into a broken sheath component, engage the sheath, and break it free for removal. The rigid wire can be angled and/or the tapered drill can include a universal joint, so as to reach inaccessible areas. The method includes inserting the rigid wire into a spark plug hole, wedging it into the insulator central hole, and removing the insulator. Then the tapered drill is inserted into the spark plug hole and pressed and rotated into the hollow sheath to engage it and break it free. Finally, the sheath is removed with the drill.
