Abstract: The present invention provides a garment liner for protecting clothing comprising an elongated strip of absorbent material having a face surface, a back surface, a pair of opposed longitudinal edges and a pair of opposed tapered ends. The garment liner includes an adhesive disposed on the back surface for securing the liner to a garment. A backing strip is removably secured to the adhesive to preserve the adhesive until the user is prepared to secure the liner to the garment. The garment liner further includes at least one of the tapered ends having a plurality of perforations which can be torn to remove segments of the liner so that the garment liner can be custom-sized to fit any variety of collar sizes which are commercially available.

Abstract: A wearable insulating blanket for the lower body and legs, that when worn permits the use of the feet and also unhindered transition between seated and standing positions. The assembly includes an outer weather- and wear-resistant shell layer, suitably formed of water-resistant nylon fabric, and an inner insulating layer, suitably formed of synthetic fleece. The main panel of the blanket extends substantially continuously across the front of the wearer's legs and lower abdomen, with the edges of the blanket converging at the rear. The blanket is secured to the wearer's waist by an adjustable quick-release waist strap, while an adjustable-length vertical vent at the front of the blanket permits free movement of the legs and feet without excessive exposure and heat loss. The edges of the adjustable vent are optionally attached to the two rear edges of the blanket by detachable leg straps that hold the lower edges of the blanket in place on the legs, e.g., against being blown up by wind.

The line extends through a portion of the garment to a designated location where warm air from the user's breath is distributed in the chamber. There is a second valve that the user operates to release the contained air, such as when one goes inside or when one wants to replenish the warm air after a period of time has passed.

Abstract: A non-woven textile may be formed from a plurality of thermoplastic polymer filaments. The non-woven textile may have a first region and a second region, with the filaments of the first region being fused to a greater degree than the filaments of the second region. A variety of products, including apparel (e.g., shirts, pants, footwear), may incorporate the non-woven textile. In some of these products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another textile element to form a seam. More particularly, an edge area of the non-woven textile may be heatbonded with an edge area of the other textile element at the seam. In other products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another component, whether a textile or a non-textile.

Abstract: A method of making a glove is described. The method comprises dipping a glove form into two different formulations. Each formulation comprises a carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber with different amounts of covalent and ionic cross linkers. The gloves preferably have a stress retention value of greater than 50%.

Abstract: A headpiece having a first section and a second section separated along a fold-line. The sections have a decorative design printed thereon and are cut from a piece of material such that a top edge and bottom edge have the shape of the decorative design. The first section has a tab extending from the top edge that is received within a slit on the second section. A strap extends outwardly from the side edge of the second section and has at least one slit that receives a tab that extends outwardly from the side edge of the first section.

Abstract: A stocking which comprises a knitting yarn having an ion powder formed through pulverizing a poly-element ore (defined in the specification) incorporated therein. The above stocking generates negative ions, which improve the circulation of blood, from the knitting yarn itself and thus is useful for the health promotion, for example, the increase of immune strength, mental stabilization, the improvement of physical function, the excretion of a waste product, the improvement of the function of a respiratory organ, and the lightening of the feeling of lassitude.

Abstract: This fashion and utility leather belt will display two sides in order to point out the art of my new invention. The front side of the leather belt will display different sizes of ornaments (riveted on the leather belt) for fashionable looks (see FIG. 1 of page 14 of the Amendment to the Drawings for further detail). The inside of the leather belt will be the utility side showing velcro materia, which will attach different utility size pouches thereof (see FIG. 4 page 14 of the Amendment to the Drawing for further detail). Once all of the utility pouches are removed, the leather belt becomes a fashion belt for most designer sport wear.

Abstract: An eye cover for use in an aquatic environment is provided. In certain embodiments, the eye cover comprises an elastic headband configured to be worn around a wearer's head and configured in use to cover or surround the wearer's eyes. The elastic headband can be configured to provide an at least water-resistant seal around the wearer's eyes. At least one eye chamber disposed on a surface of the headband that in use faces the wearer's eyes can further be provided. The at least one eye chamber permit the wearer's eyes to remain open when the headband covers the wearer's eyes. The at least one eye chamber comprises a flange extending from the headband, wherein the flange is configured to provide at least a water-resistant seal around the wearer's eye.

Abstract: An apparatus for a waterless urinal is described. The apparatus comprises a housing defining a chamber for receiving a consumable de-odoriser, the housing including an access device to permit access to the chamber for allowing replacement of the consumable de-odoriser.

Abstract: An odor removal system and device are provided for removing odors from standard gravity fed and water pressure operated toilets. The system includes a fan assembly for directing air from the toilet bowl and overflow tube through a filter containing an appropriate filter material. It operates upon instruction from a mechanism designed to determine when the toilet is in use.

Abstract: A self-closing toilet seat assembly includes a longitudinal hinge tube mounted in a cavity on the underside of a toilet lid in coaxial alignment with the hinge flanges thereof. The hinge tube is secured in hinged engagement with both the toilet lid and seat by means of a pair of slow-close hinge dampeners. A self-closing mechanism, in association with a mounting base attached to the bowl of a conventional toilet and to the underside of the hinge tube, is responsive to manual lifting of either the toilet lid itself or of both the toilet lid and the toilet seat to the open or vertical position for initiating closing rotation of the toilet lid and the toilet seat, if also upright, to the vertical tipping point, past which they continue to gravitationally rotate to the closed position, at a rate limited by the slow-close hinge dampeners.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a cartridge for regulating a fluid flow are described that include an upper housing, and an insert that is user-removable from the upper housing. The cartridge can include one or more valves that are biased in a closed position to prevent odors from escaping the cartridge. The cartridge can also include a fluid trap that is at least partially disposed within the cartridge or fluidly coupled thereto. An ultraviolet light can be inserted within the cartridge to disinfect a fluid passageway of the cartridge.

Abstract: A lifting module for the mobile rigid bottom of a swimming pool, including: a) a driving housing controlling the immersion and lifting movements at a single point of the mobile bottom; b) at least one peripheral guiding member of the mobile bottom; c) at least one transmission member connected to the driving housing on the one hand and to the single point of the mobile bottom on the other hand, the lifting module being totally self-contained in that it is free of any mechanical link with any other lifting apparatus acting at another lifting point of the mobile bottom.

Abstract: A pool cover assembly for covering a swimming pool includes a cover, a pool cover box, and a reel positionable within the pool cover box and configured for carrying the cover. The reel includes a tube and an end piece. The tube includes an end with at least one keying feature and the end piece includes at least one mating keying feature. The keying feature and the mating keying feature coact to allow relative axial movement between the tube and the end piece, but not allow relative rotational movement between the tube and the end piece.

Abstract: A portable hair washer permits hair washing of patients who cannot move freely, regardless of the state of the patients or the environment where the patients are located. The portable hair washer includes: a shampoo bowl of depressed shape; a head mounting portion curved to support a patient's head on a side of the shampoo bowl; a reservoir portion separated from the shampoo bowl by a side wall to store water; a drainage portion separated from the reservoir portion by a separation wall to store used water from the shampoo bowl; a water supply portion disposed on a side of the reservoir portion to supply water to the reservoir portion; a shower disposed on a side of the reservoir portion to supply the water to the shampoo bowl; and a pump providing the shower with a driving force to draw the water.

Abstract: A sitz bath helps patients suffering from hemorrhoids and other conditions to void their bowels. A flushing sitz bath utilizes an attached liquid filling tube, integrated water distribution channel and valve, a swing check valve, and a content-emptying flapper valve. This device helps to increase the efficiency of filling the sitz bath basin with the preferred liquid, as well as increasing the ease and cleanliness of the subsequent emptying of the basin contents by minimizing bodily strain and mess.

Abstract: This invention relates to a therapeutic shower device, having hand-held means for convenient control of water temperature, for an acupunctural water treatment by delivering sharp pointy jet water streams on a person's acupuncture points and repeatedly alternating hot and cold water of pre-set temperatures. The therapeutic shower device comprises a main flow line connected to water systems; an adjustable water dispenser comprising a distribution line, a plurality of self-supporting hoses, and nozzle assemblies; a diverter valve; and a supporter to support and fix the distribution line. The advantages of the present invention are: (1) the therapeutic shower device provides an acupunctural treatment; (2) the therapeutic shower device can be conveniently installed to an existing water system; and (3) water temperature can be repeatedly altered between hot and cold at pre-set temperatures every ten to thirty seconds while using the therapeutic shower device by manipulating a hand switch.

Abstract: Provided is a shower. The shower is configured to form dissolved water in which gas is dissolved and configured to generate micro bubbles in the dissolved water, so as to provide shower water having a high wash efficiency and harmless to the human body. The shower includes a pressure tank, a service water supply tube having a front end directly connected to a water supply tube, and a rear end connected to an upper end of the pressure tank, the service water supply tube injecting a service water into the pressure tank, a dissolution tub disposed in the pressure tank and configured to mix the service water, injected by the service water supply tube, with a gas in the pressure tank, so as to generate a dissolved water, a dissolved water supply tube having a front end connected to a lower end of the pressure tank and providing a supply path of the dissolved water stored in the pressure tank, and a shower head coupled to a rear end of the dissolved water supply tube.

Abstract: A wheel chair with commode for a patient that coverts in to a bed is disclosed. The wheel chair includes an outer rectangular main frame standing on at least four wheeled legs, first, second, third, and four outer frame being connected to each other by pivots or hinges, a pair of additional wheels being connected to the third frame by means of links that prevent the chair or bed from tilting backward due to weight of first and second frames and the patient, a means for making movements of the first, second, third and fourth frames to convert chair into bed or vice-versa, inner frames being slidably fitted inside the outer frames, and a commode pan or pot being fitted under the main frame, wherein a cushion is provided between said main frame and commode pan or pot.

Abstract: The device is for moving a person of reduced mobility, in particular to move a person between two horizontal supporting structures disposed close to one another. The device has at least one movement element formed by a horizontally planar base and a supporting element. It is possible to move the base in relation to the supporting element by combining a guiding device with a pulling and gripping device so that the base is moved rectilinearly between end positions defined by the front and rear edges of the supporting element (3) when the element is being held stationary under a vertical force. The supporting element is formed by a plate that has a lower surface that has at least one rectilinear longitudinal rail that is engageable with at least one corresponding groove provided on the upper wall of the base.

Abstract: Presented herein is a portable cushion that is divided into multiple inner cells, said structure comprising a base layer, at least two columns of at least two inflatable cells each disposed on said base layer, a lightweight, portable air pressure generator for supplying air to the cushion, and a hose to connect said cushion to said air pressure generator, wherein the inflating sequence of the cushion enables one layer of cells to fully inflate before the subsequent layer of cells is able to inflate.

Abstract: Systems and methods for turning a bedridden patient are described. A turn sheet system for turning a patient in a bed includes a bottom sheet having a first length and a first width configured and dimensioned to overlie the bed.

Abstract: An easy-access over-the-bed bassinet especially useful in hospitals for new mothers and babies. The bassinet has a barrier to prevent the infant from rolling off a sleeping platform, and one portion or wall of the barrier is convertible to permit a mother to reach in and cradle the infant, for breast-feeding for example. The convertible portion has a restoring mechanism such as a spring force or weighted arm to transform it back to its original barrier position upon removal of the weight of the mother's arms. The convertible portion may be a wall surrounding the sleeping platform that translates vertically into a frame, or pivot about a bottom edge, or pivot underneath the sleeping platform. The entire sleeping platform may tilt about a horizontal axis, and may rotate about a vertical axis for ease of positioning relative to the mother.

Abstract: Play mats having a safe surface for play and including various scenes are provided. A play mat can include a plurality of puzzle pieces with uniform puzzle edges that can be assembled in many orientations. Continuous features can be included on mat pieces. The features can continue uninterrupted from one piece to the other regardless of how the pieces are assembled. A play mat can further comprise a plurality of border pieces to enable the play mat to have smooth outer edges. Border pieces can further comprise the continuous feature such that the continuous feature continues uninterrupted from the pieces onto the border. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also described and claimed in the application.

The barrier element is associated with a deformable parallelogram mechanism hinged to a frame of the bed, said mechanism includes a deployment bar hinged between two parallel arms, and the barrier element is constrained to slide along vertical guide means carried by the body.

Abstract: A bed and chair with commode for a patient is disclosed. The bed and chair with commode includes a rectangular main frame, which stands on at least four legs, four frames fitted on the main frame, patient's body over it when patient is lifted up off the bed, side guards being fixed on both sides of main frame for supporting the straps or nets over it and for avoiding the patient from falling down a lifting means for lifting the body of patient over the straps or nets, and a commode pan or pot being fitted under the middle frame with the help of hinge and linkage arrangement. The sliding back of the bed moves upwards and downwards by a mechanism when the back support frame is raised to chair position or lowered to bed position.

Abstract: Embodiments of a patient transport cot comprise a height adjustment component coupled to the patient transport cot and configured to raise or lower the cot to a plurality of heights. The patient transport cot further comprises an electronic height indicator coupled to the patient transport cot and comprising at least one height sensor, wherein each height sensor represents a target cot height. The electronic height indicator further comprises at least one visual display component coupled to the sensor, wherein the height sensor is triggered when the cot is adjusted to the target cot height setting represented by the height sensor. The triggering of the height sensor actuates the visual display component.

Abstract: A safety bed including a bed frame with a head board, side boards and a footboard, pivotally attached guard members, and a vertically adjustable mattress support structure which is attached to the side boards. The mattress support structure is capable of being lowered within the confines of the bed frame to prevent a patient from crawling out of the safety bed. The mattress support structure capable of being raised within the bed frame to grant a health care provider access to the patient. The raising and lowering of the mattress support frame does not affect height of the side boards or guard members.

Abstract: An adjustable bed assembly includes a mattress platform, center frame, a head frame, a truss, and actuators for raising and lowering the head frame. The mattress platform may be made of wood. The center frame and/or the head frame members may be of tubular construction. The actuator may be controlled through a programmable logic controller (PLC). Alternatively, the PLC may execute actuator control according to user remote control instructions.

Abstract: A mechanism for activation of an articulating bed incorporates at least one mattress support plate and a pair of side rails. A rack is attached to each side rail and a torque tube extends between the side rails with a pinion gear at each end engaging a respective one of the racks. An actuator imparts translational motion to the torque tube perpendicular to its axis. Elevation bars connected to the torque tube and the support plate are angularly displaced by translation of the torque tube.

Abstract: A universal evacuation pod is deployed either from a storage location on top of a mattress of a bed or from a cannister mounted on a wall. The pod includes straps to hold it in place on top of a mattress, and a chamber accessible by opening opposed side zippers which, when open, facilitate access to portions of the pod that are laterally deployed in advance of inflation. The pod is inflated by a small gas cylinder. The portions of the pod pulled laterally outwardly from the chamber include straps that may be pulled over a person between them to hold the person in place. They may also include handles allowing the pod to be easily gripped for transport. Additional straps may be provided to facilitate carrying or dragging the inventive pod.

Abstract: A lightweight, portable transporter for carrying a person having anti-hypothermia structures and an absorbent body is provided. The transporter has a backing substrate, an absorbent body, a gripping device, and anti-hypothermia structures, such as material segments or covers that reduce loss of body heat of the person being carried on the transporter. A method of using the transporter is provided.

Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating sleep is disclosed. Embodiments of the sleep system receive a person's lower arm in an arm cavity of a person laying in a sleep-on-side position. An exemplary sleep system has a trunk rest and head rest. Two separated cantilevered supports extending outwardly from the base portion of the head rest are in contact with and supported by a top edge of the trunk rest, thereby defining an arm aperture that receives the person's lower arm when laying in a sleep-on-side position. An arm cavity is defined by lower surfaces of the two cantilevered supports and a trunk rest cantilevered arm cavity surface that extends generally downward and inward.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a gelastic cushion. The gelastic cushion is made from a conventional gelastic composition. The gelastic cushion has a structure having a first wall that defines an opening area and buckles when a force is applied to the first wall. When the first wall buckles a predetermined amount, a second wall, interconnected to the first wall, also buckles. The second wall decreases the chance that the first wall bottoms out. Bottoming out increases the pressure on the patient (a.k.a., the force) overlying the gelastic cushion. That increased pressure is undesirable.

The disclosure relates to a multi-compartment device comprising the abovementioned compositions (A) and (B).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming vintage effect washer by blowing up by air on one to another synthetic fiber filament yarns of a fabric, dyeing and drying the fabric with the filament yarns blown up as described in the above, getting the synthetic fiber partially back to the condition prior to the blowing-up of the synthetic fiber, thereby naturally producing a creased appearance.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel yellow anionic dyes, a process for their preparation, certain novel intermediates necessary for their preparation and the use of these dyes for dyeing natural or synthetic materials, in particular, paper. Abstract: A crew transfer system for transferring personnel from a vessel to a stationary platform, such as an oil rig, is disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, the system includes a ramp that is coupled to the vessel and an interface that is attached to the stationary platform. The ramp is coupled to the vessel in such a way as to permit one translational and three rotational degrees of freedom at the vessel-end of the ramp. The ramp is coupled to the interface in such a way as to permit no translational and at least one rotational degree-of-freedom at the rig-end of the ramp with respect to the interface. The interface is rotatably coupled to the stationary platform in such a way as to permit a rotation of the interface about the yaw axis. Permitted rotation of the interface enables a range of acceptable angles of orientation between the vessel and the platform.

Abstract: An electric toothbrush is described, comprising a vibrating brush head (20) and a main unit (6) with a vibrator motor (2) for transfer of vibrating power to the brush head (20), and also a battery (9) connected to an on/off switch (7) for operation of the vibrator motor (2). The vibrator motor (2) is not rigidly secured to the main unit (6) with help of a quick coupling (Ia), and that the vibrator motor (2) is at least partially contained in a rubber covering (5) that surrounds the main unit (6).

Abstract: The invention relates to a brush arrangement for a carwash facility, comprising at least one horizontal cross-beam (1), on which at least one support arm (2) is pivotally supported in the horizontal plane, wherein at one end of the support arm (2) an articulated joint (4) is provided, which is pivotally articulated at the upper end thereof about a horizontal articulated axis (5) on the support arm (2) and at the lower end thereof a washing brush (6) is pivotally supported about a horizontal brush pivot axis (7). It is provided according to the invention that the articulated axis (5) and the brush pivot axis (7) enclose an angle of 30° to 60° in order to configure such a brush arrangement such that the corner regions of the vehicles can thus also be cleaned satisfactorily.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning backplane optical connectors is described herein. According to one embodiment, an apparatus includes a cleaner guide having a frontend and a backend, where the cleaner guide has a cleaning channel extended from the frontend to the backend and the backend includes a mounting bracket for removably mounting a connector adapter. When the cleaner guide is inserted into a slot of the chassis, the connector adapter is aligned and engaged with an optical connector disposed on a backplane of the network chassis, such that a cleaner tool can be inserted from the frontend of the cleaner guide, through the cleaning channel, to reach the connector adapter of the backend for cleaning the optical connector, without having to remove an adjacent circuit pack of the network chassis. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for the cleaning of an endotracheal tube while a patient is being supported by a ventilator connected to the endotracheal tube. According to some embodiments, a mechanically-actuated non-inflatable cleaning device for scraping debris (e.g., biofilm) from an interior wall of an endotracheal tube is provided. In one embodiment, the cleaning device comprises an elongated member having a proximal end and a distal end and a mechanically-expandable scaffold positioned along the distal end of the elongated member. In one embodiment, the mechanically-expandable scaffold comprises one or more removal members configured to engage an interior surface of an endotracheal tube when the scaffold is in a radially-expanded position and to remove debris from the interior surface of the endotracheal tube when the device is withdrawn from the endotracheal tube.
