Abstract: A blast shield formed as a multilayer sandwich of composite material configured to provide protection to bystanders in close proximity to operation of a linear shaped charge. An exemplary embodiment may be used to shield passengers when explosively cutting an emergency door in airliners. The composite material forming a blast shield may have two types of composition: the first type contains a layer of carbon fiber cloth, a layer of natural rubber and a layer of Kevlar fiber cloth, from the inside out in order. The second type contains a layer of carbon fiber cloth, a layer of Kevlar fiber cloth and a layer of polyurethane rubber, from the inside out in order. Both types typically use epoxy resin as the bond between each layer. Through the composition of fiber and rubber, embodiments can effectively block the spread of explosive shock waves, reduce the noise, decrease the weight of protective devices, and avoid forming wounding debris.

Furthermore, the printing parameters generated by the planning computer for a print job may be stored as data in JDF files communicated to the controller which may be used to provide control signals representing predetermined printing parameters for a print job based on the data in the JDF files.

Abstract: A printing assembly includes a cylindrical sleeve having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface defines a first channel and the outer surface defines a port fluidly connected to the first channel. The inner surface is configured for lateral movement along a nonporous surface in response to a first flow of pressurized air being directed into the first channel from the port. The inner surface is also configured to fixedly mate with the nonporous surface in response to removal of the flow.

Abstract: A pallet assembly for use in simultaneously printing multiple articles of manufacture. The assembly includes a pallet having a support surface, a carrier mountable onto the pallet and conforming with the pallet surface features (e.g., individual article of manufacture platforms) such that individual articles of manufacture may be place on the support surface(s) of the pallet yet the carrier substantially covers the remaining areas of the top surface of the pallet to protect the pallet from unintentional application of ink by the printer. The carrier also includes supports which allow a carrier loaded with articles of manufacture to be lifted off of the pallet and carried away for further processing. The assembly may also include a positioner which is mountable over the carrier on the pallet. The positioner operates as a jig for aligning each of the articles of manufacture in proper position on the support surface of the pallet.

Abstract: A bituminous composition with improved paving performance, comprising a high-concentration-emulsifier bituminous emulsion is disclosed. The high-concentration-emulsifier bitumen emulsion has a higher content of surfactant than the conventional bitumen emulsion, thus facilitating the use of low levels of emulsion in the finished bituminous paving composition. Additionally, the high-concentration-emulsifier bitumen emulsion has superior surfactant dispersion property compared to the inverted bitumen dispersion, thereby enhancing the mixing and coating performance of the bituminous composition. The disclosed bituminous compositions may be used in a pavement construction at a much lower temperatures range compared to the conventional hot-mix bituminous composition, yet it develops adhesive strength and load-bearing strength properties at rates comparable to those of hot mix bituminous paving compositions.
