Abstract: A diamond impregnated drill bit features layered encapsulation of the diamond grit where the innermost layer is hardest or most abrasion resistant while succeeding layers are generally softer and less wear resistant. This can be accomplished by manipulating several variables in the encapsulation layers such as particle size or hard particle concentration. The outer layers can have added binder to make them softer. The encapsulated grit can be sintered or pre-sintered to make it less friable when handled. As a result the encapsulated diamonds are retained in the matrix longer with higher protrusion to improve bit longevity and penetration rates.

Abstract: The earth boring bit 10 is designed to bore an angular non-vertical hole into underlying strata. The bit 10 includes a plurality of steeply inclined cutting faces or edges 22 that define a relatively narrow included angle A therebetween. The bit's design ensures that the apex of the bit 10 will contact the surface S and/or other hard strata before the radially outwardly disposed gauge portion of the bit 10. This design reduces or obviates drill chattering or “walking” when the bit 10 is used to drill a hole at an angle that is not vertical relative to the surface or strata S. The bit 10 also includes an interchangeable flow control restrictor that optimizes the velocity of fluid pumped through the bit 10 and thus efficiently flushes debris from the hole as the hole is being drilled.

Abstract: A quick connect/disconnect ladder assembly includes a mounting plate attached to a vehicle's tailgate of a truck bed, a pivot plate mounted thereto to which is attached a ladder on which to ascend to gain convenient access to the bed of the pickup truck. When the tailgate is opened, the ladder can be pivoted away from the vehicle bed to a substantially perpendicular position with respect to its original orientation against the tailgate of the truck. The ladder is then pivoted downwards such that the lower end of the rails or legs contact the ground surface. The ladder is further pivotable counterclockwise to its stowed position on the tailgate to disconnect the ladder and pivot plate from the mounting plate.

Abstract: A retracting platform assembly for motor vehicle carrier trucks, where the platform retracts to a vertical position. The railing system remains in a vertical position, extending and retracting along a horizontal plane, and provides additional protection from falling off the edge of the platform. A series of elevation rods between the platform grate and the railing system aids in the transition between the extended and retracted positions. A weight-bearing beam assists in supporting the weight of the platform assembly, as well as attaches to a power supply that pushes and pulls the platform assembly from one position to the other.

Abstract: A brake device is disclosed for rail vehicles. In at least one embodiment, the brake device includes an electromagnetic spring pressure brake, the brake force being applied by an elastic force to the part to be braked and a magnetic arrangement being provided for neutralizing the brake force. The magnetic arrangement counteracts the elastic force and consists of a coil arrangement and an armature place that are mobile in relation to each other, the mobile part being connected to the brake element that impinges the part to be braked. The brake device for a rail vehicle according to at least one embodiment of the invention allows a high brake force and short reaction times and is very compact. For this purpose, the mobile part is connected to an axially displaceable plunger which on one end can be impinged upon with the elastic force and which is connected on the other end to the brake element.

Abstract: A disc brake, in particular, for a commercial vehicle, has a brake caliper which engages over a brake disc, brake linings which make contact with the brake disc in a functional position, and a brake application device with which one of the brake linings can be pressed, via at least one adjusting spindle, against the brake disc. An adjustment device is rotationally fixed to the adjusting spindle, by which wear-induced change in the running clearance between the brake lining and the brake disc can essentially be compensated. A closure lid covers the adjustment device and is attached to the brake caliper. A lining wear sensor communicates with a step-down gear mechanism connected to the adjusting spindle. The lining wear sensor is embodied as a contactless sensor which rotates on a concentric path has its change in angular position detected by the lining wear sensor and transmitted to an evaluation device.
