Abstract: Due to the reduction of a discharge amount of a mechanical oil pump by a lowering of the idling rotation speed, a slip in a hydraulic power transmission apparatus and a blow up of an electric motor for running due to a delay of the rising of the oil pressure upon the sudden start and the like are prevented. While avoiding the slip and the blow up, the idling rotation speed is lowered so as to make the engine noise small. When the return determination from the idling state is performed based on the shift operation from P to D, at step S5, a torque TMG2 of a second motor/generator MG2 is temporarily restricted. As a result, upon the sudden start from the idling state, even when the rising of the oil pressure delays, the second brake B2 engaged upon the starting is prevented from slipping, and the second motor/generator MG2 is prevented from blowing up.

Abstract: If any short-circuit failure occurs in an inverter, then a motor generator is used to execute a safety driving. If the rotational speed of a motor generator calculated from a detection value of a position sensor exceeds a predetermined reference rotational speed during the safety driving, an MGECU turns on all of the switching elements connected in parallel to a switching element in which a short-circuit failure occurs with respect to a power supply line. If the rotational speed is equal to or less than the reference rotational speed, the MGECU turns on only the switching elements connected in series to the switching element in which the short-circuit failure occurs. In this way, any excessive currents can be prevented from occurring in the inverter without restricting the safety driving.

Abstract: When a source consisting of series-connected battery 7 and auxiliary power supply 9 supplies an electric power to a motor 4, a MOS-FET 13 for preventing a current induced by a voltage of the auxiliary power supply 9 from being reversed upstream should be off if it operates normally. Therefore, voltages at the opposite terminals of the MOS-FET 13 should have a difference which corresponds to a voltage of the auxiliary power supply 9. Hence, the voltages at the opposite terminals of the MOS-FET 13 are detected by two voltage detectors 23 and 25 when the electric power from the auxiliary power supply 9 is supplied to the motor 4. If the potential difference between the voltages at the opposite terminals of the MOS-FET 13 is equal to or less than a predetermined value, a control circuit 24 issues a failure signal upon determination that the MOS-FET 13 suffers a short-circuit fault. A MOS-FET 15 is also monitored in the same way.

Abstract: The proposed invention application describes a novel configuration of an extremely small self-locking switching component, based on micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. Conventional MEMS switches need a continual control signal in order to obtain the wanted active (switching) state. The proposed invention needs only a short control signal (non-locking key) such as e.g. a pulse in order to switch the component on and/or off. RF-noise (ripples) on the de-control signal or bouncing effects can be neglected according to the proposed extension of the MEMS devices. This contributes to an easier and especially more robust design of electronic circuitries and allows for enhanced functionalities.
