Abstract: An engine (8) is mounted to a vehicle body by means of vibration isolating mounts (8E), and a support member (15) is mounted to the engine (8). Vibration isolating members (20) are provided between this support member (15) and a mounting bracket (17) mounted to an exhaust gas treatment device (16). Accordingly, even in cases where the engine (8) has generated high-frequency vibrations, these vibrations can be damped by the vibration isolating mounts (8E) and the vibration isolating members (20). In consequence, treatment members constituting the exhaust gas treatment device (16) , such as a catalyst, a filter, and a sensor, can be protected from the vibrations of the engine (8). In addition, as the exhaust gas treatment device (16) is provided with the mounting bracket (17), the vibration isolating members (20) can be reliably mounted to the exhaust gas treatment device (16) by means of the mounting bracket (17).

Abstract: A thermohydraulic pressure increase method and application thereof such as, required primarily in the field of energy management, in mechanical engineering, and in chemical plant engineering achieves volume change work by way of waste heat in a thermal process and applies the work to a hydraulic process, for example, in order to then drive presses or generators in stationary industrial systems. A hydraulic pump, which is driven by a motor disadvantageously requiring premiums forms of energy, such as electricity, diesel, or gasoline, is used conventionally to achieve the pressure increase. Some working fluids very drastically change the density thereof close to and above the critical point as the temperature rises, and transition into the gaseous state and under high pressure multiply the volume thereof if additional energy is supplied without density leaps at temperatures far below 100° C.

Abstract: There is provided a brake system that can generate a desired braking force in a nondefective system even if at least a secondary side system of a tandem master cylinder is defective. When the secondary side system is defective, a primary piston (assist member) is moved by a larger amount than an amount of movement of an input piston (input member). Pressure in the nondefective primary side system is increased, and this can compensate for a braking force for two wheels on the primary side, which may be reduced by the defect in the secondary side if no measure is taken, and allows a desired braking force to be generated. Further, the pressure in the primary side system is increased to apply hydraulic pressure reaction to the input piston and an input rod (input member), thereby achieving good pedal feeling.

Abstract: A system and method are provided to control the output capacity of a compressor in response to the outdoor ambient temperature. The outdoor ambient temperature is measured by a sensor. The measured outdoor ambient temperature is then used to control the output capacity of the compressor. The compressor is operated at less than 100% capacity in response to the outdoor ambient temperature being less than or equal to 95° F. If the outdoor ambient temperature reaches a predetermined temperature greater than 95° F., the compressor is then operated at 100% capacity.

Abstract: A thermally activated air conditioning system is disclosed that both dries and chills the air being conditioned. Drying is by a liquid desiccant subsystem, and chilling is by an absorption chilling subsystem. A very high COP (1.25) is obtainable owing to the use of reject heat from the absorption subsystem to power the desiccant subsystem. The overall system (or cycle) is powered by relatively low temperature input heat (e.g. 245° F.). That heat can be obtained from flat plate or evacuated tube solar collectors, or other sources. The low driving temperature is made possible by the disclosed integration between the two subcycles.
