Abstract: A procedure for the preparation of the radioactive tracer 3?-deoxy-3?-[18F]fluorothymidine ([18F]FLT) comprises the following steps: a) preparation of anhydrous [18F]F-fluoride; b) labelling of a precursor, for example 3-N-Boc-1-[5?-O-(4, 4?-dimethoxytrityl)-3?-O-nitrophenylsulfonyl-2?-deoxy-?-D-lyxofuranosyl] thymidine; c) hydrolysis of the mixture obtained by means of the previous steps; d) purification of the mixture to obtain the radioactive tracer [18F]FLT. In this procedure steps a), b) and c) are carried out by means of known methods. In step d) the mixture obtained after step c) is purified by means of the passage through a ventilated filter and one or more cartridges of the cationic exchange type (e.g. a Chromafix PS-H+), one or more cartridges of the reversed phase type, and finally a passage through cartridges either of the alumina N type, or diol cartridges, or anionic exchange cartridges or a combination thereof.

Abstract: A clarification system may comprise a channel having an inlet and an outlet, a length, bottom, and a height sufficient to contain a liquid having a depth. The clarification system may include one or more gas injectors disposed within the channel, configured to inject gas bubbles into a suspension flowing in the channel. In some embodiments, at least one gas injector injects gas bubbles having average or median size that does not exceed 100 microns in diameter. Some gas injectors inject bubbles having mean size below 50 microns. Some gas injectors inject gas via the precipitation of gas bubbles from a supersaturated liquid including a dissolved gas. Certain embodiments may be configured to form a quiet zone, typically near the top of the flowing suspension, in which turbulence may be minimized or substantially eliminated. Certain systems include a plurality of gas injectors disposed at different lengths along the channel.

One embodiment (FIG. 1) depicts a skimmer basket chamber (22) with a skimmer basket (14) inside, designed with a latitudinal mounting plate (26/28) for supporting a fluid controller such as a toilet fill valve (10). The replenishment of pool water to desired levels is accomplished by making adjustments to the fluid controller, which opens when water levels become sufficiently low allowing water to be added from a fluid supply conduit (18) that is routed through a lateral water overflow tube (17) and attached to a reliable water supply source. All embodiments have distinct advantages over prior art that are achieved by utilizing simple and efficient methods and apparatus, designed to provide convenient, safe, reliable, low cost and inconspicuous installation and operation. Many ramifications are described for the mounting of fluid controllers and the routing of water supply conduit (18).

Abstract: Apparatus and methods provide individual blades driven by drives configured to reduce a tendency of sludge to be moved in an undesired return direction. Drive configurations apply “pull” and “pull” forces that only pull on tensile structures, avoiding a need in actual commercial practice for use of extra structural drive members having high resistance to both tension and compressive forces exerted parallel to a sludge movement direction. Each of two separate tensile structures carries one blade, or a separate set of blades, with blade(s) of one structure adjacent to, and alternating with, blade(s) of the other structure. Embodiments move sludge from a corner of a basin and across a floor of the basin. The reduced tendency of sludge movement in the return direction results from moving one tensile structure and blade(s) in the sludge movement direction as the other tensile structure and adjacent opposed blade(s) move in the return direction.

Abstract: A supply chute 11 has a nut send-in port 14 at its upper end, and is composed of an inclined chute 12 inclined obliquely downward, and a curved chute 13 coupled to the lower end of the inclined chute 12 and curved like an arc obliquely downward. A nut support mechanism 40 is disposed at a nut send-out port 15 provided at a terminal end of the curved chute 13, for supporting the nuts 60 being forwarded so that their bonding side 62 may be in an oblique downward position nearly orthogonal to the axial line of a guide rod 20. The inclined chute 12, the curved chute 13, the guide rod 20, and driving means 25 for moving the guide rod 20 back and forth in an oblique downward direction are mounted on a stand 22 installed rotatably on a support member 33 by way of a horizontal support shaft 35, and the support member 33 is coupled and fixed to a main body arm 2 of the bonding machine 1.

Abstract: Laser hybrid welding systems adapted to identify and/or fix a weld defect occurring during a laser hybrid welding process are provided. Embodiments of the laser hybrid welding system may include one or more devices that provide feedback to a controller regarding one or more weld parameters. One embodiment of the laser hybrid welding system includes sensors that are adapted to measure the weld voltage and/or amperage during the welding process and transmit the acquired data to the controller for processing. Another embodiment of the laser hybrid welding system includes a lead camera and a lag camera that film an area directly in front of the weld location and directly behind the weld location.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to optical scanners. The invention has advantageous applications e.g. in the field laser technology, such as coating and machining with cold ablation technology. An optical scanner according to the invention has a rotating mirror (210), and the reflecting surface (214) of the mirror has an angle in relation to the axis of rotation (216), which varies as a function of the position in the mirror. This way it is possible to provide an optical scanner without discontinuation points and an accurate scanning speed throughout the scanning area.

Abstract: A laser is used to both score and emblazon a sheet to thereby provide a scored, emblazoned sheet. That scored, emblazoned sheet is then used to wrap an item (such as, but not limited to, a foodstuff item). By one approach this can comprise providing a plurality of lasers and exposing a substantially taut sheet to this plurality of lasers. So configured, these lasers are used substantially contemporaneously with one another such that each laser both scores and emblazons a corresponding portion of the substantially taut sheet to provide the aforementioned scored, emblazoned sheet.
