Abstract: The present invention in several embodiments is an arrangement of components that work together to hide the attachment screws for drainage channels behind the exterior siding. The drain exit for this system is larger for a greater volume of runoff. This helps reduce and/or eliminate wood wrought of the roof top eaves caused by traditional exterior wall-mounted drainage systems. The entire corner cap is preferably an open channel. There is preferably a left side and a right side application. Preferably a spray on rubberized coating is applied to the surface contacting the wall of the building to prevent water from damaging the building. This system is ideal for any residential and most commercial uses.

Abstract: Corrugated fine mesh material is configured to be located overlying a gutter. The fine mesh material has an upper edge opposite a lower edge with the upper edge configured to fit beneath shingles on a roof adjacent the gutter. The lower edge is configured to be held to a lip at a forward edge of the gutter. The corrugations add strength to the material and collect water at troughs thereof where the collected water more readily forms droplets that fall down into the gutter. A lower strip is preferably provided to hold the lower edge of the mesh to a lip of the gutter. An upper strip is optionally provided which includes a tab which can fit beneath shingles to the roof. A barrier such as a bead of caulk can optionally be coupled to an underside of the corrugated mesh to further encourage water droplets to fall.

Abstract: A method and related system for providing energy conserving active thermal insulation to a building structure by employing alternately spaced insulated air channels and insulated conductive ply channels. A thin conductive ply conveys the energy by conduction from the airflow into the adjacent conductive ply channels that contain an additional layer of foam which improves the conservation of energy. The conductive ply is placed above and below structural openings which would otherwise restrict airflow. The airflow is drawn from beneath the frost line, exhaust ventilation or sunspace. A math model solution determines the energy necessary to maintain a desired room temperature for each hour of the day which characterizes the thermal resistance. As the ambient temperature fluctuates, the resistance varies, however the energy for 24 hours is used to determine the total apparent resistance. Examples of apparent resistance R-value have been improved beyond any published resistance values to date.

Abstract: The liner for concrete forms is a plastic matrix for simulating the mortar grooves conventionally formed in masonry construction. The liner is placed within a concrete form, and the concrete is poured thereover. The form is removed after the concrete sets, thereby exposing the surface with the liner still remaining therein. The surface of the concrete panel may then be treated as desired to produce a surface finish resembling brick or other masonry construction, e.g., sandblasted or coated with stucco or other material, with the liner remaining in place to protect the simulated mortar grooves. Once the surface of the concrete panel has been treated as desired, the liner is removed to expose the natural concrete surface within the grooves, with this natural concrete surface closely resembling the mortar joints in a masonry wall.

Abstract: An exhaust diffuser system and method for a turbine engine. The outer boundary may include a region in which the outer boundary extends radially inwardly toward the hub structure and may direct at least a portion of an exhaust flow in the diffuser toward the hub structure. At least one gas jet is provided including a jet exit located on the outer boundary. The jet exit may discharge a flow of gas downstream substantially parallel to an inner surface of the outer boundary to direct a portion of the exhaust flow in the diffuser toward the outer boundary to effect a radially outward flow of at least a portion of the exhaust gas flow toward the outer boundary to balance an aerodynamic load between the outer and inner boundaries.

Abstract: Control systems and a method for controlling a load point of a gas turbine engine are provided. A control system includes a controller that receives a temperature signal and a pressure signal associated with exhaust gases from the gas turbine engine. The controller is further configured to generate the fuel control signal. The controller is further configured to generate an actuator control signal such that flow restriction member is moved from the first operational position to the second operational position to restrict the flow path such that the exhaust gases have a temperature level within a desired turndown temperature range, the pressure level in the exhaust gases is less than a threshold pressure level, and the load point of the gas turbine engine is adjusted to toward a target load point.

Abstract: An ultra-efficient “green” aircraft propulsor utilizing an augmentor fan is disclosed. A balanced design is provided combining a fuel efficient and low-noise high bypass ratio augmentor fan and a low-noise shrouded high bypass ratio turbofan. Three mass flow streams are utilized to reduce propulsor specific fuel consumption and increase performance relative to conventional turbofans. Methods are provided for optimization of fuel efficiency, power, and noise by varying mass flow ratios of the three mass flow streams. Methods are also provided for integration of external propellers into turbofan machinery.

Abstract: A combustion system for performing stable combustion and flame stabilization at high altitudes is described. A primary liquid hydrocarbon fuel is atomized and vaporized within the main combustor chamber to produce a primary fuel vapor. When the combustion system operates at a high altitude, a secondary gaseous fuel is fed into the inlet air port such that the secondary fuel mixes with air, thereby enabling the mixture of the air and the secondary fuel to combust in a catalytic reactor to produce high temperature, oxygen-rich gases that flow into the main combustor chamber. Proper proportional amounts of the two fuels are determined as a function of altitude.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for treating diesel engine exhaust gases comprising nitrogen oxides (NOx) and hydrocarbons (HC) by selective catalytic reduction of the nitrogen oxides with ammonia or a compound decomposable to ammonia as a reducing agent over an SCR catalyst based on a molecular sieve. The properties of the catalyst used are such that the hydrocarbons present in the exhaust gas are kept away from the catalytically active sites in the catalyst over which the reactions take place by the molecular sieve-like action of the zeolite present in the catalyst. This prevents HC-related degradation and aging effects of the SCR catalyst and achieves a considerable improvement in nitrogen oxide conversions in HC-containing exhaust gas.

Abstract: The present invention provides an exhaust purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine which enables a decrease in NOx purification rate and possible ammonia slip to be inhibited. The apparatus includes an NOx catalyst, a urea aqueous solution addition valve serving as reducing agent adding means, and NOx sensors provided an inlet and an outlet of the NOx catalyst, respectively. When the bed temperature of the NOx catalyst is in a predetermined high-temperature region in which the amount of ammonia converted into NOx increases relatively and an NOx purification rate decreases relatively, the apparatus uses outputs from the NOx sensors to perform correction such that the actual addition amount of the urea aqueous solution addition valve reaches a target addition amount.

Abstract: In a vehicle having mounted therein an engine including an injector that directly injects fuel into a cylinder, in the case in which a warm-up control required condition is established, catalyst warm-up control is executed if an amount of fuel diluted in oil is low, or even if the amount of fuel diluted in oil is high, when the temperature of the engine oil is less than the fuel volatilization temperature. In contrast, even in the case in which the warm-up control required condition is established, if the amount of fuel diluted in oil is greater than or equal to a determination value, and furthermore the temperature of the engine oil is greater than or equal to the fuel volatilization temperature, there is the possibility of negative influence on exhaust emissions, and therefore the catalyst warm-up control is prohibited.
