  • Patent number: 7951414
Abstract: Some embodiments include methods of forming conductive material within high aspect ratio openings and low aspect ratio openings. Initially, the high aspect ratio openings may be filled with a first conductive material while the low aspect ratio openings are only partially filled with the first conductive material. Additional material may then be selectively plated over the first conductive material within the low aspect ratio openings relative to the first conductive material within the high aspect ratio openings. In some embodiments, the additional material may be activation material that only partially fills the low aspect ratio opening, and another conductive material may be subsequently plated onto the activation material to fill the low aspect ratio openings.

  • Patent number: 7951418
Abstract: This invention relates to the control of radiant thermal energy and more specifically to highly Thermal Infrared (IRT) reflective pigments for use in decorative coatings for buildings or other areas where the control of IRT energy and visual decoration are required. Control of the spread of thermal energy in domestic buildings through passive techniques reduces energy consumption by reducing reliance on heating in cool environments and cooling air-conditioning in warm environments. A number of paint formulations having low emissivity in the thermal infrared exist which are based on variants of conventional decorative paint fluids. There are a number of problems associated with such formulations such as susceptibility to damage and high emissivity for certain color pigmentations. The present invention proposes a low emissivity flake for use in a paint formulation which substantially overcomes the problems associated with the prior art.

  • Patent number: 7951419
Abstract: Heterogeneous oxygen-scavenging particles are formed by dry coating activating component particles onto oxidizable component particles, largely through a succession of mechanical motions. The component particles are repeatedly mixed, compressed, and sheared. Smaller activating component particles coat the surface of larger oxidizing component particles by force-induced contact, while irregularities are removed by abrasion among the particles. The oxygen-scavenging particles can be blended together with a base polymer into a masterbatch having a higher concentration than required for use as an active barrier to oxygen permeation. The masterbatch can be diluted with the same or a compatible polymer to form the active barrier.

  • Patent number: 7951460
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a laminate having a layer construction of metal-insulating layer-metal or a layer construction of metal-insulating layer, which laminate meets conditions for developing large adhesive strength between the insulating layer and the metal, as well as to an insulating film and an electronic circuit using the laminate. The laminate has a layer construction of first metal layer/insulating layer/second metal layer or a layer construction of metal layer/insulating layer. The insulating layer 1 has a multilayer structure of two or more layers. The layers on the side of the adhesive interface with each metal layer (a copper foil 3 and an SUS foil 4), out of the layers constituting the insulating layer 1, each are a thermoplastic resin layer 2. The minimum value of the storage modulus at a temperature at or above Tg of the thermoplastic resin layer 2 is not more than 106 Pa.
