Abstract: When a fluid pressure cylinder (1) is in a maximum expansion state, a piston (40) contacts a cylinder head (30). The cylinder head (30) is fixed to a cylinder tube (10) by a plurality of head bolts (12). The cylinder head (30) includes a pipe attachment seat (36), and the head bolts (12) are disposed in a first region (A) that avoids the pipe attachment seat (36). A non-contact portion in which contact is avoided between the piston (40) and the cylinder head (30) is formed in a second region (B) other than the first region (A), and therefore, when the fluid pressure cylinder (1) is in the maximum expansion state, a tensile load acting on the head bolts (12) on either side of the first region (A) can be suppressed to become equal to a tensile load acting on the other head bolts (12).

Abstract: A cartridge case intended for explosive materials. A releasable base plate is provided in a bottom section of the cartridge case. A base plate locking device includes a temperature dependent shape memory material. The shape memory material of the base plate locking device is provided to exert a crushing force on the cartridge case at a temperature increase passing a temperature such that the shape memory material in question struggles to resume a former shape in order to break up the connection between the base plate and the bottom section of the cartridge case and release the base plate from the bottom section of the cartridge case. A round of ammunition includes the cartridge case.

Abstract: Conventional toughening agents are typically rubbery materials or small molecular weight molecules, which mostly sacrifice the intrinsic properties of a matrix such as modulus, strength, and thermal stability as side effects. On the other hand, high modulus inclusions tend to reinforce elastic modulus very efficiently, but not the strength very well. For example, mechanical reinforcement with inorganic inclusions often degrades the composite toughness, encountering a frequent catastrophic brittle failure triggered by minute chips and cracks. Thus, toughening generally conflicts with mechanical reinforcement. Carbon nanotubes have been used as efficient reinforcing agents in various applications due to their combination of extraordinary mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing a well-dispersable, rutile-structured, microcrystalline titanium dioxide product, a product prepared by the method, and an effect paint and a lacquer provided by means of the product. In the method, the titanium dioxide starting material is first treated with a base to have an alkaline pH value, after which it is treated with an acid to have a hydrochloric acid content of 8 to 30 g/l, neutralized, processed, and calcinated. In particular, the preparation method is characterized by the use of a pretreatment chemical before the calcination stage to improve the dispersability.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a process of manufacturing calcium carbonate-containing slurries, wherein said calcium carbonate-containing slurries are prepared by adding one or more zirconium compounds, and possibly one or more further phosphate-free additives acting as dispersing and/or grinding aid agents. An other object of the invention lies in calcium carbonate-containing slurries thus obtained, and dry calcium carbonate mineral pigments resulting from the drying of such slurries. A further object of the invention is the use of such slurries and such dry mineral pigments in paper manufacturing, plastic coatings, as fillers for plastics or for aqueous paint compositions and the like. Papers, paints and plastics containing such slurries and such dry pigments are also an object of the present invention.
