Abstract: An ergonomic guitar strap which reduces the load on the shoulder, balances the weight of the guitar front-to-back, absorbs shock during play and isolates motion by the use of a cushioning pad that is constructed with a soft, flexible foam layer which conforms to a user's shoulder under the load of the guitar. Attached to the cushioning pad is an internal layer of elastic webbing which stretches over the cushioning pad. In use, under the load of a guitar, this elastic layer absorbs shock, transfers the load of the guitar over the area of the pad and further isolates the motion of the guitar and contributes to the stability of the support pad on the shoulder and the stability of the guitar as it is played.

Abstract: A pedal apparatus that suppress the generation of acoustic sound at the time of operation includes a belt member made of an elastic material linked to an upright section of a main body section and a belt fastening section of a pedal. When the pedal is stepped on by a performer, the belt member is tensioned from a relaxed state and displaced to a linear form while being subjected to elastic deformation. When the pedal is further stepped on from that state, the displacement of the pedal is limited by the tensile force of the belt member. Accordingly, the generation of the striking sound that would otherwise be produced due to the impacting of bodies against each other to limit the pedal displacement can be avoided.

Abstract: A polyphonic, chromatic keyboard, whose notes are alternately distributed across two sub-keyboards arranged in thirds on each sub-keyboard. On each sub-keyboard, the notes are distributed across a tiling of basic triangles that is symmetrical from one sub-keyboard to the other and that peaks at one note, i.e. the major third thereof, and the minor third thereof. Thus, the quality of an interval, and consequently that of a chord or mode, does not vary with a nearby symmetry/translation. The harmonic material is represented by easily memorizable shapes. The relationships between chords are represented by geometrical movements. The keyboard can thus be a pedagogical aid for learning and understanding harmonic rules. The keyboard enables the user to play a bass line and a harmonic or melodic accompaniment simultaneously, feel the harmonic rhythm, and play with virtuosity. The keyboard can be fit onto a portable instrument, thus making it possible to play comfortably.

Abstract: In response to detection of a note-on instruction, a CPU assigns a tone generating unit comprising two tone generating channels and sets tone color control data of the assigned tone generating unit into tone generator registers. The tone color control data includes a parameter common to the two channels. Once the CPU gives a tone generation start instruction to a tone generator, the tone generator accumulates a frequency number common to the two channels to thereby generate a progressive phase common to the two channels. Waveform readout section reads out left-channel and right-channel waveform data from a waveform memory on the basis of the phase and waveform selecting information of the left and right channels. Tone characteristics of the read-out left- and right-channel waveform data are controlled by a characteristic control section on the basis of a characteristic control parameter common to the two channels.

Abstract: For each one note or for each plurality of notes constituting a reference tone, a segment setting section segments a time series of actual pitches of the reference tone into one or more note segments. For each of the one or more note segments, a relativization section creates a time series of relative pitches that are relative values of individual ones of the actual pitches of the reference tone to a normal pitch of the note of the note segment. Information registration section stores, into a storage device, relative pitch information comprising the time series of relative pitches of each individual one of the note segments. The segment setting section may use musical score data, time-serially designating the notes of the reference tone, to set each of the note segments for each note designated by the musical score data, and may correct at least one of start and end points of each of the set note segments in response to user's operation.

Abstract: A resource is protected by an armor structure comprising a magnetic field such that the magnetic field will interfere with a warhead blast to weaken the blast. In particular, magnetic field will interfere with a molten metal jet from a shaped charge to disperse the jet, allowing subsequent layers of armor to absorb the jet energy without penetration. In one embodiment, the magnetic field is produced by a layer of magnetic material magnetized with the field lines perpendicular to the primary threat direction and typically parallel to the surface of the area to be protected. The magnetic material layer may include ferromagnetic (iron or steel, or other) layers to strengthen and contain the magnetic field, protect the magnetic material and act as additional armor layers. The magnetic layer is typically used in conjunction with an inner shield armor layer to absorb the diffused jet after passing through the magnetic layer.

Abstract: Improvements in a torque limiter that uses a plurality of ball bearings that are retained in a cage. The ball bearings are compressed to create frictional drag on opposing flat plate surfaces. In some military vehicles the gun turret is rotated by personnel turning a crank that rotates the turret. The crank rotates a pinion or chain that turns the rack of the turret. When the turret does not move freely the personnel will typically apply more force that results in damaging the pinion, chain and or the rack. The torque limiter for a gun turret in this application connects between the crank and the drive train to allow the crank to turn without applying excessive torque forces on the pinion, chain and or the rack.

A reservoir is in fluid communication with the housing for supplying washing water to the air cleaner. A centrifugal impeller is disposed in the housing for drawing in air to create a centrifugal force on the wet air mixture. As the wet air mixture flows through the vortex room the centrifugal force separates the contaminated washing water from the purified air because of the difference between the specific gravities of the air and the washing water.

The outlet (25) has a spout (5), said spout (5) being hingeable about a substantially horizontal axis (23) between a first position in which the pourable foodstuff can be dispensed from the spout (5) and a second position in which dispensing of the pourable foodstuff from the spout (5) is prevented. Said spout (5) is constructed and arranged to be manipulated by a manipulator acting on the spout (5) so as to urge the spout (5) towards the second position.

Abstract: A means for securing parallel pieces of twine so that yard debris such as branches and trimmings can piled for bundling. The parallel pieces of twine are located such that, once the debris is piled perpendicularly between them, they are positioned for convenient tying around the debris to form a bundle for transporting and disposal. Each piece of cut twine is held in place at two points and is retained by an angled grasping mechanism that serves to pinch the twine, thus holding it secure enough to withstand the disturbances of debris being piled, yet not so constraining that the twine can't be easily removed for wrapping and tying. The roughly square frame can be folded into a substantially one dimensional form for storage. An optional twine cutting blade can be included on the frame for convenient severing of the twine from its packaged source.

Abstract: The invention presented is a pad printing blanket that reduces damage to pad printing heads. The industry-standard pad printing head is soft plastic, silicone or urethane. The pad is used to print designs on three-dimensional surfaces and the pad must be pressed firmly onto said surfaces. This pressure leaves permanent indentations on the print pad surface, eventually rendering the print pad useless for printing. The invention covers said print pad with a blanket of soft plastic which carries the ink for the image. Only the pad blanket contacts the printable surface, protecting the print pad and reducing the need for expensive print pad replacement.
