Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a turbocharger and a selectively operable positive displacement supercharger downstream of the turbocharger in the intake path. An input shaft of the supercharger is mechanically coupled to and driven by a piston-driven crankshaft. A bypass valve is configured to selectively bypass at least a portion of the air from the turbocharger air outlet around the supercharger. Power and fuel consumption are optimized by operating the supercharger to dilute the fuel-air mixture to achieve an excess air factor ? above 1.0, and in some cases above the upper range (?=1.3) of normal stoichiometric operation. The engine can operate in a lean low temperature combustion mode (e.g., HCCI) with the supercharger operating, and in a stoichiometric spark ignition combustion mode with the supercharger bypassed.

Abstract: Two units sit side by side in a structure. The process is as follows: A bucket is filled with water from a water tray that has been filled with water from a water tank. The water tray signals the water tank when it needs water. When a bucket reaches a certain position, the unit bar tips water tray and the bucket receives the tray's water. The weight of the filled bucket causes it to drop to the water sewer below. The bucket dumps the water into the sewer. The water is pumped from the sewer to the water tank. The two units are attached by a sprocket cable at the unit bar, and the cable travels over three pulley wheels. Each pulley wheel connects with generating motors. The units are separated by a spiked pole. The units have a generator motor mounted on a unit bar. The movement of the bar and the motor along the spiked pole generates energy. The net effect is the three pulley motors and the two unit motors continuously generate power.

Abstract: After a glass film ribbon (3) is formed while allowing a glass to descend, the glass film ribbon (3) is annealed while allowing the glass film ribbon (3) to descend in an annealer (5) to remove an internal strain. Then, when the glass film ribbon (3) having a thickness at a center portion excluding both widthwise ends of 300 ?m or less is cut, after processing in the annealer (5) is executed and before a cutting step is executed, main tensile rollers (6R) that play a role as principal tensile rollers hold the descending glass film ribbon (3) and are driven to rotate, to thereby provide at least the glass film ribbon (3) in the annealer (5) with tension in a vertical direction.

Abstract: In order to produce a fluorophosphate glass including P5+ at a small content in the composition thereof, the composition is adjusted so as to provide well-balanced chemical durability and thermal stability. In the production of a fluorophosphate glass in which O2?/P5+?3.7, Al3+ content is in a predetermined amount or more and P5+ content is in a predetermined amount or less, a glass raw material is prepared by using an AlF3 in which the content of Al2O3 is limited to the range from 1 to 5% by mass, and the raw material is melted to produce the fluorophosphate glass.

Abstract: A surge fill apparatus and method for a top load washing machine is disclosed. A top load washing machine includes a cabinet, a tub positioned within the cabinet, and a basket for receiving a wash load rotatably supported within the tub. The washing machine further includes a reservoir in fluid communication with the tub. The reservoir has the capacity to store a volume of wash fluid. The reservoir releases the volume of wash fluid into basket when the volume of wash fluid in the reservoir reaches a threshold level. In this manner, the apparatus and method of the present disclosure provides for a surge of wash fluid to be provided to the top portion of a wash load such that the top portion of the wash load can be cleaned and rinsed more efficiently.

Abstract: Disclosed is a laundry machine in which a tub is isolated from vibration of a drum, ensuring an increased size of the tub and an increased volume of the tub. This results in an increased capacity of the laundry machine. The increased size of the tub provides a sufficient space between the tub and a cabinet for installation of relevant constituent elements, thus accomplishing a compact interior structure of the laundry machine.
