Publication number: 20120090458Abstract: A staged rocket apparatus includes first and second stages connected by a releasable connector. A plurality of pressurized gas struts are connected between the first and second stages and provide a separating force urging the first and second stages apart. The gas struts are held in a telescopingly collapsed first position by the releasable connector. The separating force is maintained at a minimum value so long as the releasable connector holds the struts in their first position. When the releasable connector is disconnected the separating force increases due to gas flow through a metering passage having a progressively increasing flow area from a high pressure chamber to a low pressure chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2011Publication date: April 19, 2012Inventor: Brian A. Publication number: 20120090459Abstract: A floating piston actuator for use with multiple hydraulic systems includes a housing and a piston assembly. The piston assembly includes an elongate shaft or ram, at least one secured piston coupled to the ram, and a set of moveable pistons moveably disposed within the housing chamber on the ram such that the set of moveable pistons are translatable relative to a longitudinal axis of the ram. The set of moveable pistons form at least three hydraulically separate actuator cylinders where each of the three hydraulically separate actuator cylinders are disposed in fluid communication with a corresponding pressurized fluid source. The floating piston actuator allows hydraulic redundancy while maintaining a similar length compared to existing multi-system actuators. The floating pistons can be arranged in multiple configurations to allow operation with a hydraulic system failure without force fight or binding and with a higher output force than conventional multi-system actuators.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2010Publication date: April 19, 2012Applicant: WOODWARD HRT, INC.Inventors: John Lauffer, Rhett Henrickson

Publication number: 20120090463Abstract: A process and an apparatus for the treatment of a carbon dioxide-containing flue gas stream are described, at least part of the carbon dioxide present being removed from the flue gas stream in a separating device having in particular an absorption column 7 with the formation of a gas stream having a low carbon dioxide content and a carbon dioxide-rich gas stream. For overcoming the pressure drop caused by the carbon dioxide removal in the absorption column 7, it is proposed that the gas stream having a low carbon dioxide content and formed after the removal of the carbon dioxide from the flue gas stream is subjected to a gas stream compression, for example by means of a flue gas blower 14.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2010Publication date: April 19, 2012Applicant: Linde-Kca-Dresden GmbHInventors: Torsten Stoffregen, Veselin Stamatov, Thomas Walter

Publication number: 20120090464Abstract: The process consists of a combination of a low temperature CO2 condensation separation step followed by either a physical or chemical solvent scrubbing process. The first step results in the partial pressure of CO2 in the gaseous steam being reduced to a value near the triple point pressure of CO2. Typically, the partial pressure of CO2 is reduced to the range 5.5 bar to 7.0 bar. The second stage process then removes the remaining CO2.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2011Publication date: April 19, 2012Inventor: Rodney J. Allam
