  • Patent number: 8256332
Abstract: A method for the automatic and contact-free relative approach between a specimen (6) and a knife (7) of a microtome (1). A first light beam bundle (9?) forms a detector-side zero point and a last light beam bundle (9?) forms a detector-side end point of a light band (8), the light band (8) being arranged perpendicular to the second spatial direction (Y) and in the direction thereof spaced from the knife, a zero point (X0) being assigned to a reference position of the knife blade (XBlade). The specimen (6) is guided through the light band (8) by way of a cutting movement. The position of the highest point of the specimen (XSpecimen) in the first spatial direction (X) is determined from the number of shaded light beam bundles (9).

  • Patent number: 8256339
Abstract: A missile is guided and/or supported within a canister by a collapsible support structure. In one embodiment the collapsible support structure is part of a railcar running on a rail within the canister. Each railcar includes a missile-engaging guidance and/or support structure, a rail engaging element, and a hinged pantograph-like collapsible support extending between the missile-engaging structure and the rail engaging element. A hinge of the pantograph is locked in a storage state and during part of motion during the missile launch. The hinge is unlocked, and travel of the rail engaging element is stopped. The missile-engaging support structure momentarily continues its motion, and the pantograph collapses. Capture elements engage parts of the railcar or the canister during collapse to prevent rebound of the missile-engaging support structure toward the missile.

  • Patent number: 8256343
Abstract: A pad holder of a coffee maker for making coffee with a foam layer on top includes a stud plate having studs for supporting a coffee pad containing ground coffee beans and an outlet opening for delivering coffee extract. Studs in the direct vicinity of the outlet opening are arranged in a circle, where surfaces of the studs form a circular directing surface. During operation of the coffee maker, a flow of coffee extract enters a space encompassed by the studs via channels between the studs, and is put into rotation as a result of interaction with the directing surface. Consequently, the coffee flow enters the outlet opening in a rotating condition, causing the outlet opening to deliver the coffee as a spray of fine droplets, from which the foam is created.

  • Patent number: 8256344
Abstract: A first roller, which takes up dampening fluid from a dampening agent reservoir, and a second roller, are controlled. The first roller transfers the dampening fluid to the second roller. The first roller and the second roller have separate driving devices and their individual surface velocities differ from each other because of their separate driving devices. A change in the velocity of a form cylinder results in a change in the slip between the first and second rollers. Dampening systems are also contemplated.

  • Patent number: 8256375
Abstract: A method for the production and control of plates for electronics comprising a first step in which a plate is positioned, by means of positioning means, in a loading station; a second step in which the plate is disposed in a deposition station associated with a unit for depositing metal, or other material, in which the metal is deposited on the plate, in order to generate on the plates metal tracks, according to a pre-determined and desired topological disposition; a third step in which the plate is disposed in an exit station and a detection means is activated so as to detect the presence of defects in the plate; and a fourth step in which the plate is discharged from the exit station. In the first step the detection means is activated to identify defects in the plate disposed in the loading station. In the second step the deposition unit is activated in order to deposit the metal on the plate when in the first step the detection means has not detected any defect in the plate.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method and system are described for tracking and managing animals and/or food products. Identification data and location data for animals is entered into a computer system. A data service provider may collect this data and transmit it to a data trustee. The data trustee may filter the data into official and non-official data, and send official data to an official database. When a public health issue arises, the government may use an identifier for a diseased animal or a location identifier to request a trace report. The data trustee may then use the official data to provide a report showing, for example, which animals have commingled with the diseased animal. Based on this report, other animals can be treated, quarantined, or slaughtered.
