Abstract: Every amateur golfer wishes to improve their game. Doing so is usually achieved through significant practice and the hit-and-miss search for the right golf club. Accordingly to embodiments of the invention golf clubs imparting increased driving range through an overall increase in the mass of the golf club are presented. Additional aspects of the invention relate to achieving this without imparting a corresponding reduction in the swing velocity as well as providing for the addition of the mass a manner that reduces the tendency for the golfers swing to change, and allows for adjustment to address their natural tendency to hook or slice. As such the additional mass added to a driver may, according to embodiments of the invention, be compensated by the adjustment in the balance of the golf club and allowing for the additional mass to be added non-uniformly to the golf club head.

Abstract: A damascene process is utilized to fabricate the segmented magnetic core elements of an integrated circuit inductor structure. The magnetic core is electroplated from a seed layer that is conformal with a permanent dielectric mold that results in sidewall plating defining an easy magnetic axis. The hard axis runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the core and the inductor coils are orthogonal to the core's longitudinal axis. The magnetic field generated by the inductor coils is, therefore, parallel and self-aligned to the hard magnetic axis. The easy axis is enhanced by electroplating in an applied magnetic field parallel to the easy axis.

Abstract: A length reference bar system and method that compensates for thermal expansion and allows for testing whether an instrument is working properly using only an inferometer. The system has a bar portion with end caps for target positions on either end of the bar portion that extend inward toward each other such that, if a length of the bar portion changes due to a temperature change, a length of the end caps also changes in an opposite direction to counteract the bar portion length change. Any target positions mounted on the end caps remain at a constant distance from each other regardless of the temperature thereby canceling out the effect of thermal expansion. The end caps also provide multiple target positioning capability so that any targets mounted thereon may be positioned in various configurations to provide a user with increased versatility for applications such as checking calibration.

Abstract: A description is given of an apparatus (1) for treating a bed (2) of particulate material which is supported by an aeration bottom (3), subject to the application of a conditioning gas being directed to and flowing up through the aeration bottom (3) and the material bed (2) from an underlying compartment (4) which comprises side walls (5), end walls (6) and a bottom (7). The apparatus is peculiar in that it comprises a space (8) for inspection which extends into the compartment (4) from one of its side walls (5), end walls (6) or bottom (7) and allowing access for a person for visual inspection by direct sight of the compartment (4) through a number of inspection openings (9). Hence it will be possible during the operation of the apparatus to inspect by direct sight the equipment in a significantly extended area of the compartment.

Abstract: An improvement in a laundry dryer system using recovered waste heat from the hot air exhaust of the dryer to transfer that heat to the incoming ambient fresh air. A home laundry dryer in which both the fresh air entering a laundry drum and the air exhausted from the drum pass through thermal recovery ducting. The dryer heat recovery system has concentric ducting including a high temperature passage through which the exhaust air flows and a separate low temperature passage through which the entering air flows. Heat from the exhausted air is transferred from the high temperature passage to the entering air in the low temperature passage. This heat transfer lowers the energy required to raise the entering air to a desired drying temperature. The dryer ducting is designed to have an outer diameter equivalent to standard size ducting on home dryers.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate generally to the field of footwear, and more particularly to components of performance footwear, such as midsoles, and in particular related to high-stability, multi-density midsoles. In some embodiments, the midsoles disclosed herein may protect a user from over-pronation and/or over-supination of the foot. Embodiments of the high stability midsoles disclosed herein may include a cushioning element and a mid-foot element. In various embodiments, the mid-foot element may be configured to mate with the cushioning element in the mid-foot portion, and may include at least one posterior tail configured to align with a medial or lateral edge of the heel portion of the cushioning element. Alternatively, the midsole may have integrated cushioning regions with different response property regions.

Abstract: In one method of manufacturing a fluid-filled chamber, two polymer layers are located between two mold portions, the surfaces of the mold portions cooperatively defining a peripheral cavity with first and second regions, an inward extent of the first region exceeding an inward extent of the second region. A tensile structure may be positioned between the polymer layers and the mold portions may be compressed together. Part of a peripheral portion of the chamber may be formed by drawing first and second areas of the chamber against the first and second regions of the peripheral cavity, respectively. After pressurization, the first region of the peripheral cavity may have a greater extent of outward protrusion than the second region of the peripheral cavity. Accordingly, an asymmetric medio-lateral shape may be imparted to the chamber without the use of a tensile structure that is itself tapered or contoured.
