Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for preparing a printing form from a curable composition that includes an bisphenol-based epoxy resin; an amine curing agent selected from primary amines and secondary amines, the agent having an amine equivalent weight of less than or equal to 200 g/equivalent; and, a multi-epoxy reactive diluent. The process includes applying the curable composition to a supporting substrate to form a layer, curing the layer at one or more temperatures in a temperature range, and engraving to form at least one cell in the cured layer. The process prepares printing forms, particularly gravure printing forms, having a cured resin composition layer that is engravable, resistant to solvent inks and to mechanical wear, and capable of printing gravure-quality images.

Abstract: A method of severing tubular members using an expandable linear explosive shape charge positioner. The method involves placing a plurality of arc-shaped charge chambers along the same plane and adjacent to the interior walls of a tube. Simultaneous detonation of the charge chambers severs the tube along a common plane. The positioner is placed within a tubular member and includes a remotely extendible framework with linear explosive shape charges enclosed therein. When in the collapsed position, the apparatus passes through constrictions within the tubular members. When extended, the framework is positioned transversely to the axis of the tubular member with the shape charges positioned adjacent the interior walls thereof. Shape charge chambers with angled ends are presented to provide overlap when the device is fully extended to better ensure complete separation of the tubular member at the discontinuities of the shape charges about the plane of severance.

Abstract: A cartridge casing for rifles is made from a high strength aluminum alloy. A method for making such cartridge casing includes the steps of (a) forming a cylindrical blank from an aluminum alloy having a tensile strength greater than 80,000 psi, and (b) rotating the blank at a rate greater than 500 rpm and forcing the blank into a die, the die having a bore with progressively reduced interior diameters which are less than the external diameter of the blank. In the method, the forcing of the blank into the die results in the finished cartridge casing having a distal end with an external diameter which is less than the external diameter of its proximal end.

Abstract: A hopper car discharge outflow is controlled by closure members, at least one of which is movable. The doors are hingeless, being mounted on four bar linkages, such that the distal edge of the doors sweeps predominantly horizontally while the proximal edge of the door moves predominantly upwardly. The doors move through noncircular arcs, such that the size of the vertically projected door opening is abnormally large compared to the clearance heights of the door. The doors are driven by a transverse drive linkage that is driven by a transversely mounted actuator. The actuator is mounted in an accommodation in the lee of slope sheets between adjacent hoppers in a mid-span portion of the car. Drive from the actuator is carried to a pair of symmetrically mounted doors through drive train linkages. The drive train includes longitudinally extending torque tubes that transmit drive to both fore and aft ends of the door assemblies.

Abstract: A folding table assembly having both a tabletop and legs that fold into smaller sizes. The tabletop has a main panel, a first side flap panel, and a second side flap panel. The side flap panels are joined to the main panel with hinge connections. The hinge connections enable the side flap panels to rotate from open positions that are coplanar with the main panel to folded positions that are under the main panel. The folding legs are coupled to the side flap panels. The folding legs can move between extended positions, where the legs support the tabletop, and retracted positions, where the legs are folded flush against the side flap panels. This enables the legs to fold flush against the side flap panels so that the legs are interposed between the main panel and the two side panels.

Abstract: A rigid foil sail having a full length vertical leading edge whose trim angle/angle of attack is controlled by the main sheet and at least two trailing edge flaps attached rearwardly of the leading edge, each of which can be independently trimmed from a convenient deck level control tray to achieve easily adjustable camber. The design of the rigid foil sail allows depowering of the sail without altering mainsheet trim by decreasing the camber of the upper trailing flap thus also decreasing the heeling force created by the power of the upper trailing flap. Such an arrangement allows the boat to be driven without the loss of upwind pointing performance and without the loss of power caused by luffing of the sail. Similarly, the boat can be better balanced by allowing the boat to be driven to windward more efficiently with a minimum heel angle.

Abstract: Demands such as higher definition, higher opening aperture, and higher reliability on a full-color flat panel display have been increased. Such demands are big objects in advancing higher definition (increase in the number of pixels) of a light-emitting device and miniaturization of each display pixel pitch with reduction in size of the light-emitting device. An organic compound-containing layer is selectively deposited using a laser beam which passes through openings of a mask. An irradiated substrate provided with a light absorption layer and a material layer containing an organic compound and a deposition substrate provided with first electrodes are placed so as to face each other. The light absorption layer is heated by a laser beam which has passed through the openings of the mask, and the organic compound at a position overlapping with the heated region is vaporized, and accordingly the organic compound is selectively deposited over the deposition substrate.

Abstract: A bird feeder comprising of a free spinning plate guards to prevent unwanted pests such as squirrels from accessing the seed within the feeder. Whereas birds can feed while resting on perches which protrude outwardly from the bottom portion of the feeder, non-flying pest animals such as squirrels must approach the feeder along its outer periphery, traversing the plate guards in the process. As the pest tries to climb onto the feeder and access the seed, the plate guards spin; preventing the pest from having a stable footing and thus fall off the feeder.

Abstract: The present invention provides a non-skid double-layer pet bowl for feeding animals and also provides a method of fabricating the said bowl. The bowl has an anti-skid bottom, so that the bowl does not move when the animal is eating or drinking from it. Another feature of the bowl is that materials, plastic and metal can be detached from each other. The plastic bowl is on the outside and is printed with various prints to make it attractive. Only this outer plastic bowl can be changed by removing it, in case of any damage or to obtain a different pattern. When detached, both the bowls can be used separately also, as double diner, that is one for feeding and the other one for drinking water for animal. The present invention also provides a method of fabricating the non-skid pet bowl. The bowls of the present invention are easy to fabricate, attractive in appearance and cost-effective.
