A sensor array is provided in optical communication with the optical lens and a coupling structure is provided to mechanically couple the optical lens and the sensor array. The cover overlays a gap formed between the navigation assembly and adjacent keys to prevent contaminants such as liquids, dust, lint, or the like, from entering an interior of the mobile communication device. The cover also includes a decorative ring that defines a tracking window and outlines a perimeter of the underlying sensor arrays.

Abstract: In infrared touch input devices that detect and locate a touch object from the blocking of light paths propagating along the X,Y axes, an ambiguity arises when two touch objects are present. This ambiguity can be resolved by the provision of additional light paths angled to the X,Y axes. The present invention provides projection systems that include a light splitting element for splitting collimated sheet of light into two or more sets of beam paths, thereby providing the additional light paths for resolving the double touch ambiguity. In preferred embodiments the light splitting element is in the form of a prism film.

Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device (1) that is provided with a function of identifying the position of a subject to be detected (finger) in an image display region (12b) of a liquid crystal panel (10) by emitting light to the image display region (12b) and by detecting light reflected by the subject to be detected (finger). The liquid crystal display device is provided with a backlight (30) and a front light-emitting unit (40), which radiate light to the image display region (12b). The backlight (30) is disposed on the side of the liquid crystal panel (10) opposite to the image display surface (10a), and emits light to the image display region (12b) from the rear side of the liquid crystal panel (10). The front light-emitting unit (40) is disposed outside of the image display region (12b), and emits light to the image display region (12b) without having the liquid crystal panel (10) therebetween.

Abstract: The present invention provides an input display device including: a display device which recognizes an input position with a light sensor by blinking a backlight; and an input device of a light-emitting type (light pen), wherein a light emitting diode (LED) of the input device is adapted so that (i) its non-light-emitting period overlaps at least a part of a period (X) during which the backlight is OFF and (ii) its light-emitting period overlaps at least a part of a period (Y) during which the backlight is ON. According to this arrangement, it is possible to realize an input display device which can reduce the effect of ambient light and in which a light pen can be used (in addition to a finger and a reflective pen etc.) as inputting means.
