Abstract: Systems and devices for radio frequency (RF) power amplification are disclosed. In one embodiment, a power amplification device includes a power amplification circuit operable to amplify an RF transmission signal and a voltage regulation circuit operable to generate a regulated voltage. The regulated voltage level of the regulated voltage sets an amplification gain of the power amplification circuit. The voltage regulation circuit allows the regulated voltage level closer to the saturation voltage level when a band-select signal indicates that the RF transmission signal is being transmitted within a low transmission frequency band and is further away from the saturation voltage level when the band-select signal indicates that the RF transmission signal is being transmitted within a high transmission frequency band. This provides greater power efficiency when the RF transmission signal is being transmitted with the low transmission frequency band.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a current multiplier that can generate an output current with high linearity and/or high temperature compensation. Such current multipliers can be implemented by complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuit elements. In one embodiment, the current multiplier can include a current divider and a core current multiplier. The current divider can generate a divided current by dividing an input current by an adjustable division ratio. The division ratio can be adjusted, for example, based on a comparison of the input current with a reference current. The core current multiplier can generate the output current based on multiplying the divided current and a different current. According to certain embodiments, the output current can be maintained within a predetermined range as the input current to the current divider varies within a relatively wide range.

Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to mobile subscriber identities for mobile devices, and more particularly, to dynamic assignment of International Mobile Subscriber Identities (IMSIs) to reduce roaming and overuse charges. Instead of using a reprogrammable embedded Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card for remote activation of a device, mobile carrier charges, such as roaming and over limit usage fees, can be significantly reduced by reprogramming SIM cards dynamically from a pool of available mobile accounts. A smaller pool can be utilized to meet the needs of a large group, rather than a one-to-one association implemented within today's phones. Resource usage can be tracked and as one account reaches its maximum, a new account can be assigned to the mobile device to prevent overuse charges. Existing FMC concepts can insure single number inbound or outbound caller identification regardless of the name or number associated with the SIM card for the mobile device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods and subsystems directed to increasing the amount of memory accessible to software and hardware components of mobile electronic devices as well as to increasing security and reliability of data storage for mobile electronic devices. In the described embodiments of the present invention, the local memory within a mobile electronic device is extended by transmitting data from the local memory to one or more remote computer systems for storage and by requesting and receiving data from the one or more remote computer systems for storage in the local memory of the mobile electronic device. In the described embodiments of the present invention, a portion of the local memory within a mobile electronic device is employed as a local window into a much larger amount of data stored on one or more remote computer systems on behalf of the mobile electronic device.

Abstract: A system and method for the real-time management of a device, and more particularly to the establishment and enforcement of policies or rules associated with the feature or functions that may be performed with the device, such as making and receiving calls, exchanging data, playing games and music, sending and receiving email, accessing web sites, and paying for goods and services. If a child or employee is using the device, there may be a need to regulate how that device can be used and to determine who will pay for what goods or services. In addition to providing all of the features associated with a device, service providers need to be able to establish and enforce rules (policies) regulating how and when that device can be used and who will pay for a good or service requested by the user of the device.

Abstract: In a method for assuring compliance with a mandated requirement, a control component resident in said mobile electronic device is implemented in response to receiving an indication to limit the operation of the mobile electronic device in a moving vehicle. A position determining component disposed within the mobile electronic device is used to determine the speed of the mobile electronic device. The speed of the mobile electronic device is determined to exceed a speed threshold and the functionality of the mobile electronic device is restricted based upon the determination that the speed threshold has been exceeded.

Abstract: In a distributed antenna system (DAS), the number of physical antennas is usually larger than that of the antenna ports supported by LTE/LTE-A RS pattern in each cell. Systems and methods are directed to a RS transmission scheme in which the RRHs (or RRH groups) are dynamically scheduled and mapped to the antenna ports for RS transmission based on user density distribution such that the accuracy of the channel state information (CSI) estimation in the DAS is optimized.

Abstract: A method and system that support re-establishing a dropped call or communication is disclosed. A terminal may publish its parameters to other terminals through in-band or out-of-band signaling. Token values may then be determined by a weighted sum of parameters, where the terminal having the largest weighted sum possesses the token. If the call or communication drops, the terminal possessing the token then initiates communication to the other terminals. In addition, a plurality of tokens may be used when there are more than two terminals in a call. The terminals may be partitioned into groups, where one of the terminals in each group possesses a token.

Abstract: Presence-based communication involves providing certain communication functionality based on whether an access terminal is present at a presence domain. In some aspects, presence-based communication involves enabling communication between access terminals present at a presence domain. For example, a synchronous communication scheme uses presence information to enable efficient routing of user traffic via a femto cell instead of routing the traffic to the core network over the backhaul. In some aspects, presence-based communication involves using presence information to provide new services where communication is delivered to a user in the correct location context. For example, an asynchronous communication scheme delivers information to an access terminal only if the access terminal is present at a presence domain.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) cell search involves tuning a demodulation frequency of the UE based on signals received from a first encountered cell and using a non-initial cell search procedure to continue searching for a cell that is qualified for camping on, wherein the non-initial cell search procedure relies on the demodulation frequency being within limits of accuracy that enable successful reception and decoding of received information. Prior to finding a qualified cell, information enabling a first discovered unqualified cell to again be found is saved. After a period of time during which the non-initial cell search procedure has been performed and before the UE's demodulation frequency is beyond acceptable limits of accuracy, the saved information is used to again tune the demodulation frequency based on reading signals from the first discovered unqualified cell. The UE then continues to perform the non-initial cell search procedure.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices, methods and computer program products for radio access network (RAN) signal acquisition. In one aspect, a mobile device scans a radio frequency spectrum for RAN signals and detects signals corresponding to a plurality of channels of a first network type having a first channel bandwidth. The mobile device then determines a power level of the detected signal on each of the plurality of channels and discards signals having substantially equal power within a first frequency range to define a remaining set of signals. The first frequency range corresponds to a second channel bandwidth of a second network type and the second channel bandwidth is greater than the first channel bandwidth. The mobile device then ranks the remaining signals based on the determined power level and selects one of the remaining signals for acquisition based on the ranking.
