  • Patent number: 8371640
Abstract: A motor vehicle with a sliding door has a safeguard with two mounting elements. One of the mounting elements is secured to the sliding door, while the other mounting element is arranged on a column bordering the sliding door. The mounting elements pass by each other given a sliding motion by the sliding door, and end up opposite each other during the motion of the sliding door, transversely to the sliding motion. As a result, the safeguard holds the sliding door against the column during a crash in which forces act perpendicularly on the sliding door.

  • Patent number: 8371652
Abstract: The backrest for motorcyclists includes a base plate with a pivoting and telescoping strut extending from its forward end. The upper end of the strut has a cushioned seatback pivotally attached thereto. The strut is adjustable to optimize the seatback height. The fore and aft angle of the strut, and thus the angular position of the seatback, is adjusted by an adjustable stop at the base of the strut. The stop limits the rearward angular motion of the strut, but allows the strut to pivot forward against the seating surface to facilitate mounting and dismounting of the motorcycle. The base plate is removably secured to the seat by lateral straps that hook beneath the edges of the seat. The span of the straps may be adjusted by laterally telescoping strap brackets extending from the plate. The bottom of the plate is coated with a non-slip material for greater security.

Abstract: Images are sequentially printed on a first surface of a sheet, and identification information for identifying an image is formed each time an image is printed. When printing is interrupted by the error and before resuming printing, the identification information formed on the first surface of the sheet fed from the reverse unit again is read by the reader, and an image to be printed on the second surface when resuming printing is specified based on the read identification information.

Abstract: According to this invention, an inkjet printing apparatus having an arrangement for detecting an amount of remaining ink in an ink tank starts a printing operation in a short time immediately after power-on. If an operation in preceding use is ended without any error at the time of power-off, and no error has occurred even at the time of power-on, the inkjet printing apparatus of this invention starts the printing operation without executing the operation of detecting the amount of remaining ink in the ink tank after power-on.

Abstract: Disclosed is a user interface associated with a printing system and a method of using the user interface to select a profile for jet detection. The printing system has a plurality of jets for outputting test images and document images and a jet detection device with at least one or more sensors for reading the output test images to detect faulty jets. The user interface provides a plurality of profiles for the jet detection device for selection. Each profile has a plurality of predetermined conditions that cause a test image to be printed at a particular location and analyzed. For example, a profile can include a time and a location for printing output test images using one or more of the plurality of jets. Thus, a user can control the conditions for outputting test images and determining missing or faulty jets within the system.

Abstract: A liquid ejection device includes a plurality of nozzles, a plurality of piezoelectric elements, a drive signal generating portion and a common ejection testing portion. The nozzles are arranged to eject a liquid. The piezoelectric elements are provided in respective correspondence to the nozzles. The drive signal generating portion is arranged to generate a drive signal which repeats for each ejection cycle in which the nozzles eject the liquid onto a pixel, the drive signal having a testing period within each ejection cycle. The common ejection testing portion is provided in common to the nozzles. One of the piezoelectric elements corresponding to the nozzle to be tested is driven within a given ejection cycle of the drive signal, whereupon the nozzle to be tested is tested by the common ejection testing portion during the testing period of the same given ejection cycle.

Abstract: An inkjet printing apparatus is provided by which, even under an environment in which water in ink easily evaporates (e.g., a high temperature and a low humidity), the humidification of the ambience near the nozzle opening can be provided by the control depending on the temperature and humidity or the printing mode. Thus, such an inkjet printing apparatus is provided that can provide a high-quality printing while reducing the amount of waste ink or cost. To realize this, ink is ejected to the platen absorber and is humidified. Then, water evaporated from the platen absorber is used to humidify the nozzle section of the print head.

Abstract: The invention provides for a printhead assembly that has a number of modular PCBs and a number of printhead integrated circuits (ICs). Each of the printhead IC's is respectively connected to one of the modular PCBs for operative control. Modular supports in the assembly define a raised portion and a recessed portion at an end thereof. Each PCB has electrical connecting strips which operatively overlie the respective recessed portions. At least one connecting member operatively connects respective PCBs to each other. Each connecting member has a series of parallel spaced conducting strips. The member is shaped and configured for fitment into a cavity defined by the raised and recessed portions of two abutting supports to connect the connecting strips of two PCBs via the conducting strips. The assembly also has a printer controller configured to synchronize operation of the respective PCBs during printing.

  • Patent number: 8371682
Abstract: An ink replenishing system that automatically activates the replenishment of modified ink cartridges to receive a refilling volume of ink from a larger, bulk ink source. The use of one modified tricolor cartridge and one modified black ink cartridge function as the distributors for the proper dispersion of ink. The cartridges are modified to incorporate access orifices to communicate with ink injectors when the cartridges park (or when the printer is turned off). A micro switch is tripped which, in turn, energizes an isolation relay which powers up the ink replenishing system. When the modified cartridges become low, sensing metal plates imbedded in the matrix of the modified cartridges sense little or no current flowing from one plate to the other; thus, there is insufficient current to energize an opposing coil of an electric motor pump relay and the pumping actions is continued until the cartridge is filled to capacity.

Abstract: A particle removal device for an ink jet printer is discussed. The particle removal device includes a first separator comprising an arrangement of obstacles including at least two rows of obstacles that extend laterally with respect to a flow path of ink in the first separator. The rows of obstacles are offset from one another by a row offset fraction. The arrangement of obstacles is configured to preferentially route larger particles having diameters greater than a critical diameter through the arrangement and along a first trajectory vector that is angled with respect to the direction of the flow path of the ink. The angle of the first trajectory vector with respect to the ink flow path is a function of the row offset fraction. Smaller particles having diameters less than the critical diameter travel through the arrangement along a second trajectory vector that is not substantially angled with respect to the flow path of the ink.
