Abstract: A method for controlling a wind power park including the steps of: collecting information relating to meteorological conditions at the location of the wind power park, estimating for each of a plurality of the wind turbines the production costs per unit energy at different load levels of the respective wind turbine, collecting information from a utility grid operator relating to energy prices and possible requirements relating to the amount of power delivered from the wind power park to the utility grid, controlling the wind power park by deciding on a total amount of power to be delivered from the wind power park and distributing the decided power production between individual wind turbines, and repeating the above steps in order to obtain a dynamic control of the wind power park. Further, a wind power park being controlled by such method is disclosed.

Abstract: A variable speed wind turbine having a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), includes an exciter machine mechanically coupled to the DFIG and a power converter placed between a rotor of the DFIG and the exciter machine. Thus, the power converter is not directly connected to the grid avoiding the introduction of undesired harmonic distortion and achieving a better power quality fed into the utility grid. Moreover, the variable speed wind turbine includes a power control and a pitch regulation.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for Hydraulic Transient Energy Generation, based on the principle of hydraulic transients involving conversion of kinetic energy into potential (pressure) energy, which will serve as a reliable, renewable, inexpensive and green source of energy, and provide good environmental benefits (and CO2 credit) by substantially minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. To utilize the potential (pressure) energy developed in the system, the invention makes the transient pressure surge continuous and steady. Rapid response valves with appropriate and compatible instrumentation systems make it possible to periodically and continuously induce pressure surges to maintain high pressure at the outlet of the system. The steady pressure rise at the outlet of the system can be used to drive a turbine for generating electrical power, or for pumping liquid from lower pressure to a higher pressure, wherein it can be used for driving pumps, compressors and the like which require energy input for their operation.

Abstract: An apparatus for inhibiting the formation of tropical cyclones, comprising an elongated rigid tube through which cooler water is pumped from below to the near-ocean surface, thereby depriving incipient tropical cyclones of the heat energy they require for further development. The tube contains a pump comprising a fixed flap valve and a movable flap valve. The movable flap valve is attached to a drive disk encircling the tube at a depth where ambient waters have little vertical motion. The wave-driven vertical motion of the elongated tube causes the movable flap valve to oscillate with respect to the fixed flap valve, thereby pumping seawater upward onto the near-ocean surface. The apparatus also can navigate to alternative locations by means of a propulsion/steering system, and it can submerge to a safe depth to avoid oncoming vessels and potentially damaging seas. A fleet of apparatuses is required to provide the necessary cooling effect.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system for converting rotational energy from a slow moving rotary input shaft, like the shaft of a wind turbine, into electrical energy to be supplied to a grid. The system comprises a support structure for supporting a main bearing for the input shaft, a generator coupled to the input shaft and arranged on the support structure, and a power converter that is electrically coupled between the generator and the grid. This converter is arranged on the support structure, and may further be structurally integrated with the generator. The generator may be an induction generator comprising a removable cage type rotor. The generator may comprise a stator which includes heat pipes connected to a lubricating and/or cooling system for a transmission, and the stator may be removably mounted on free ends of the heat pipes.

In the provided disk-shaped coaxial inversion generator, mechanical contact areas can be reduced, so that the mechanical loss, such as wear, can be reduced; a low-noise structure attributed to the reduction of mechanical contact areas can be realized; and the maintenance can be facilitated.
