Abstract: A protective suit fabric of the present invention is a heat-resistant flame-retardant protective suit fabric, which is formed of a spun yarn. The fiber blend rate is: 25-75 mass % of polyetherimide fiber (A); 20-50 mass % of at least one fiber (B) selected from wool and flame-retardant rayon; and 5 to 25 mass % of para-aramid fiber (C). The spun yarn for forming the fabric is a two-fold yarn (20) prepared by twisting: 1) a single yarn (24) of a uniform blended spun yarn including the fiber components (A) and (B); and 2) a single yarn (23) of a sheath-core spun yarn including a core (21) of stretch-broken spun yarn of the para-aramid fiber (C) and a sheath (22) formed by blend-spinning the polyetherimide fiber (A) and the at least one fiber (B) selected from wool and flame-retardant rayon. The protective suit fabric has high washing resistance. The protective suit fabric provides favorable comfort in wearing even if the suit is worn in the hot seasons or even if the wearer perspires during exertion.

Abstract: A two conductor hard wired communications link accepts an actual value of at least one parameter of interest from an environmental sensor in the form of data encoded on the conductors via current modulation. The sensor is mounted in location remote from an irrigation controller. A circuit connected to the sensor transmits an RF signal representing an actual value of a parameter of interest detected by the sensor. A data relay is connected to the hard wired communication link of the irrigation controller. The data relay includes a receiver that receives the RF signal, and circuitry configured to extract the actual value of the parameter of interest and emulate a predetermined set of physical and protocol properties of the hard wired communication link of the irrigation controller.

Abstract: One or more applications are registered, managed, launched and/or downloaded using one or more near field communication (NFC) tags. In one embodiment, a NFC application is launched based on detection of a smart code that is in an NFC tag. The NFC application may be configured to write and/or assign a smart code to one or more tags. Another embodiment is directed to a web portal that may be accessed by the NFC application to download applications for presenting data associated with a tag. The NFC application may launch an application based on device placement in proximity to a NFC tag without user interaction, and also allow for writing and/or associating smart codes to NFC tags. The system and methods may overcome or at least ameliorate memory storage capacity limitations in a tag, and may advantageously reduce time and the need of user interaction when opening an application.

Abstract: A mobile terminal has a memory, short-range communication interface, and a controller. The memory stores payment information and the controller compares predetermined first authentication information with second authentication information. The controller enables or disables a payment function based on a result of the comparison, and establishes a connection with a payment terminal through the short-range communication interface when the payment function is enabled. Once the connection is established, the payment information is transmitted to the payment terminal through the short-range communication interface.

Abstract: A near-field coupling device that may facilitate communications with a transponder is provided. The near-field coupling device may include a ground plane, a dielectric substrate, one or more conductive strips and a terminating load. The conductive strips together with the ground planes form coupling elements. The near-field coupling device further includes one or more switching elements for selectively connecting and disconnecting the coupling elements with a transceiver. The connected coupling elements define a total characteristic impedance. Using the switching element, the ratio between the total characteristic impedance of the connected coupling elements and the terminating load may be changed in order to adjust the distribution of an electromagnetic field along the coupling elements according to the type and position of the transponder to be processed.

Abstract: Enabling multiple contactless interactions and communication protocols with a single tap of a contactless device. A device reader generates a polling loop and detects a contactless device using an RF field. The device reader identifies the contactless device's communication protocols and initiates a first communication protocol via ISO/IEC 18092 protocol. The device reader initiates a stored value communication via MIFARE protocol. The device reader then initiates an EMV communication via ISO/EIC 14443 protocol. A contactless device can function for both an EMV compliant payment transaction and an alternative peer-to-peer type transaction. The EMV based payment application and transaction is retained as an independent payment application, thereby keeping the additional data exchange process of EMV technology from influencing the peer-to-peer technology and avoiding re-certification of EMV technology.
