Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for improving directed connectable advertising in a low energy Bluetooth device. The host on the Bluetooth device configures an advertisement interval length, an advertisement window length, and a number of attempts. The advertisement window length is equal to or shorter than the advertisement interval length, which may be less than 1.28 seconds. Next, advertising packets are transmitted for the length of the advertising window on three advertising channels. Packets are transmitted consecutively, with no more than a 3.75 millisecond delay between packets, until the end of the advertisements window. After transmitting, a link layer of the Bluetooth device decrements the number of attempts. Once all attempts have been exhausted, the advertisements end. Otherwise, the link layer waits for the end of the advertisement interval.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for improving scanning in a low energy Bluetooth device. The host configures a scan interval length, and a scan window length. The scan window length is equal to or shorter than the scan interval length. Next, a link layer initiates a scan interval, and also generates a random delay. The random delay may be anywhere between zero and the difference between the scan window length and the scan interval length. The link layer waits for the delay to complete before scanning is performed by the transceiver. The transceiver scans for the duration of the scan window. After scanning, the system waits for the end of the scan interval before the link layer generates a subsequent randomized delay and the transceiver again scans for the duration o the scan window. This process may continue indefinitely until a connection is established. In some embodiments, the scan window may be subdivided into a number of sub-windows, each preceded by a randomized delay.

Abstract: A method, antenna switching integrated circuit (IC), and communications device that connect a transmitter to a selected antenna to propagate at least one transmission signal to the selected one of at least two antennas, based on feedback information associated with one or more antennas. An antenna tuning and switching (ATS) controller receives feedback information about a current status of an antenna tuner, wherein the current status of the antenna tuner is either locked or unlocked. In response to the current status of the antenna tuner being in a locked state, the ATS controller triggers an antenna selection switch to connect the antenna (that is associated with the antenna tuner) to the transmitter in order to propagate the transmission signal(s) from the transmitter to the antenna. If the antenna tuner is in an unlocked state, the ATS controller selects a different antenna that is not associated with an antenna tuner.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method in a wireless device provide for reestablishing a dropped call, wherein a wireless device determines a wireless device callback priority, wherein the wireless device callback priority is relative to a second communication device callback priority associated with a second communication device, wherein the wireless device and the second communication device are established in a communication session. A dropped call between the wireless device and the second communication device is detected. In response to detecting the dropped call, and the wireless device callback priority being higher than the second communication device callback priority, the wireless device calls back the second communication device. If, during the calling back, a match between a callback identifier and an incoming caller identifier of an incoming call is detected, the calling back is terminated, and the incoming call is answered.
