Abstract: A method of producing a substrate suitable for artificial leathers. The substrate is composed of an entangled nonwoven fabric made of microfine fibers and a binder resin. At least one surface of the substrate is a densified layer which is made of the microfine fibers and which is substantially free from the binder resin. The binder resin is impregnated into a portion of the substrate other than the densified layer. The densified layer prevents the binder resin impregnated into the entangled nonwoven fabric from migrating into the surface of the entangled nonwoven fabric, thereby providing the substrate having the surface substantially free from the binder resin. The peeling strength between the substrate and a grain layer formed on the surface thereof is drastically improved because the surface of the substrate is substantially free from the binder resin.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for fibrillating synthetic ribbons in an extrusion process for the production of, for example, grass fibers. The extrusion process creates a sheet of ribbons from an extruded foil or a multiplicity of extruded monofils, and stretches them conjointly. The ribbons are led side by side in a parallel arrangement along the circumference of a fibrillating roll with a partial wrap. To produce a pattern of fibrillation irrespective of the thickness of the ribbons and the elasticity of the ribbons, the invention provides that a multiplicity of short partial cuts is made in the ribbons by a plurality of successively engaging rows of blades on the fibrillating roll each having a multiplicity of projecting cutting tips.

Abstract: Recesses are formed on one surface of a substrate. A conductive film covers an inner surface of each of the recesses. This conductive film contacts a bump of a semiconductor device to be inspected and is electrically connected to the bump. It is therefore possible to prevent damages of the bump to be caused by contact of a probe pin.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a component, in particular a component of a turbine or a compressor, in which at least these steps are carried out: application in layers of at least one powdered component material to a component platform in the area of a buildup and joining zone; melting and/or sintering locally in layers of the component material by supplying energy with the aid of at least one electron beam in the area of the buildup and joining zone; lowering of the component platform in layers by a predefined layer thickness; and repeating steps a) through c) until completion of the component. During the manufacturing, electrons emitted due to the interaction of the electron beam with the component material are detected, after which material information, characterizing the topography of the melted and/or sintered component material, is ascertained on the basis of the emitted electrons.
