Abstract: An acceleration sensor (40R) for detecting a side surface collision which occurs in a vehicle is mounted on a beam (112) of a door via a support member (50). When a force due to a collision acts on the beam (112), this force is dampened by the support member (50) and thereafter transmitted to the acceleration sensor (40R). As a result, even if the beam (112) moves at an acceleration exceeding the rated input of the acceleration sensor (40R), the acceleration of the acceleration sensor (40R) is suppressed to a level not greater than the rated input. Accordingly, the side surface collision can be detected with high accuracy without using a sensor having a high rated input.

Abstract: An airbag cushion for vehicles includes a cushion body, vent holes, tubes and a tether. The vent holes are formed in the cushion body at opposite positions. The tubes are connected to the respective vent holes. The tubes are deployed out of the vent holes by deployment of the cushion body so that gas is discharged out of the cushion body through the tubes. The tether connects the tubes to each other and is severed when pressure in the cushion body reaches a predetermined degree. At the point of time at which the weight of the occupant is applied to the airbag cushion, the pressure in the airbag cushion is released, thus reducing the risk of the deployment of the airbag cushion injuring the occupant.

Abstract: It is a common problem for the typical consumer that is not highly educated or experienced in pairing wine with food, to determine what food recipe would be best suited to combine with a given bottle of wine. This invention offers the consumer a significant reduction in effort, time and risk by providing a food recipe affixed to the wine bottle. The food recipe affixed to the bottle has been selected based on its complimentary flavor and aroma to the wine, creating an attractive pairing of food and wine for the consumer. When selecting the bottle of wine, the consumer has an immediate recommendation for a food recipe to pair with the wine without requiring the consumer to further research such recommendations, thereby saving the consumer time and effort, while reducing their risk in making poor pairing decisions.

Abstract: An engine cranking motor soft-start system and method includes at least one cranking motor and a switching power converter which is coupled to the cranking motors such that the voltage across the motors varies with the converter's duty cycle. The duty cycle, and thereby the voltage across the motors, is gradually increased over a predetermined period. This serves to limit the acceleration of the cranking motors, and thereby their peak current and torque, which may serve to increase their service life. The cranking motors are typically operatively coupled to drive respective pinion gears which are brought into engagement with a ring gear when starting the engine. The system is preferably arranged such that the gradually increasing duty cycle results in the torque of the cranking motors being sufficient to break an abutment that may be present between the pinion gears and the ring gear.

Abstract: A pile clamp assembly to clamp a pile that consists of the following main components; top pile clamp device, the bottom pile clamp device, a plurality clamp wedges and a plurality vertical hydraulic clamps which combines to make a flat clamp wedge contact with the surface of a deviated and twisted pile. This clamping mechanism reduces bending in the driven pile by enabling the next adjoining pile to conform as much as possible to the alignment of the existing driven pile and gradually corrects the pile's vertical alignment and twist as it penetrates the ground through interactions of the unique swiveling clamp wedges.

Abstract: A slide mechanism for use with a vehicle armrest includes a sliding plate and a stationary plate in sliding engagement with each other via a coupling that includes an elongated guide and a guide follower. The elongated guide defines a slide direction for the slide mechanism and is retained to one of the plates by guide retention features located at each end of the guide. Each retention feature is constructed to restrict movement of the elongated guide in all directions transverse to the slide direction. A spacer is disposed at one end of the elongated guide to hold the guide in place in the slide direction so that retention is maintained. The spacer can be interposed between a retention feature stop and an end of the elongated guide and/or can extend from a cover attached to the plate that includes the retention features.

Abstract: This invention is a hard sided pop-up truck camper that fits on an ordinary pickup truck. When folded down, it looks like a typical pickup truck topper and will allow the truck to fit into a garage. The folding sides take up less than 6 inches of height when folded which maximizes its use as a topper for hauling while also maximizing the vertical height when erected so it can be used as a camper. When erected, it allows a person to stand upright throughout the inside of the camper. Current hard sided pop-up truck campers are designed to extend by raising straight up mechanically, the sides do not fold down upon themselves like this invention does. Also, current hard sided pop-up truck campers in the down position typically extend above the cab of the truck making them too high to fit through a garage door.

Abstract: A method is provided for producing an inner cladding part for vehicles by lamination of a first, preferably flexible material layer, having an upper side and an underside, onto a preferably dimensionally stable carrier, having a preferably three-dimensional surface contour of the carrier, with a thermally activatable adhesive applied to the underside of the material layer and/or the surface contour of the carrier. Carbon nanotubes, forming a heating device, are in contact with the adhesive at least in one sub-region. The method includes heating the adhesive in the sub-region by applying a voltage to the carbon nanotubes, as a result of which the adhesive is activated, and compressing the material layer and the carrier.
