Abstract: A tool for modifying a workpiece by either trimming or joining the workpiece. The tool is an electro-hydraulic tool that uses a pulse transmitted through a liquid to trim a workpiece or to join two thicknesses of metal together. A method of trimming the workpiece includes the steps of providing a high voltage discharge in a liquid that drives a workpiece into engagement with a cutting edge of a tool steel insert. A method of joining two or more thicknesses of metal together includes the step of creating a high voltage discharge through an electrode that accelerates one panel or thickness of metal into a second panel that is held stationary by a backing plate while the first thickness of metal is accelerated into the second thickness of metal.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tool unit of a rotary swaging machine for shaping preferably rod-like or pipe-like workpieces. The tool unit has a plurality of shaping tools (22) which are arranged about an operating axis (18) and which can be driven radially relative to the operating axis (18) with a stroke movement by means of a tool drive. There are associated with the shaping tools adjustment means (38), by which stroke positions of the shaping tools (22) are adjustable in such a manner that the shaping tools (22) abut each other with a closing pressure which is dependent on the stroke positions adjusted when the shaping tools (22) are in a closed state. According to the invention, the tool unit has a measuring device for measuring a parameter, by means of which the closure pressure produced at the adjusted stroke positions of the shaping tools (22) can be verified.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring a resultant flow delivered by a pump coupled to an over pressure valve, the method comprising the steps of: measuring, using a first flow meter, feed flow to the pump; measuring, using a second flow meter, return flow from the over pressure valve; and calculating resultant flow, at least in part, by subtracting measured return flow from measured feed flow. A pump power modification module can further modifying the pump output pressure to enable pressure profiling.

Abstract: A system and method for measuring oil level and quality is provided. The system and method uses an alternating current (AC) to determine oil level, and a lower frequency alternating current, or a direct current (DC), to measure oil quality. The system may comprise a single sensor that is used to measure both oil quality (by providing the lower frequency alternating current or direct current) and oil level (by providing the higher frequency alternating current). Using the lower frequency AC, or DC, enables the resistance of the oil to be determined, which gives an accurate indication of the oil quality.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for identifying motions of an object, which is used for detecting motions of at least an object. A sensing plate senses the object and produces at least a sensing signal. A processing circuit is coupled to the sensing plate. It gives at least a moving speed along at least one axis, at least a variation in the sensed value between the object and the sensing plate, or at least a variation in the contact area according to the sensing signal. Then it produces a corresponding control signal according to the moving speed, the variation in the sensed value, or the variation in the contact area. Thereby, the present invention further produces a corresponding control signal by means of the variations in the sensed value. Hence, the control signal can be produced without touching the touch panel and thus increasing the lifetime of the touch panel.

The proof-mass and the guiding arm are disposed in a plane parallel to the substrate. The proof-mass is coupled to the guiding arm. The guiding arm is also coupled to the substrate through a spring. The guiding arm allows motion of the proof-mass to a first direction in the plane. The guiding arm and the proof-mass rotate about a first sense axis. The first sense axis is in the plane and parallel to the first direction. The gyroscope includes an actuator for vibrating the proof-mass in the first direction.
