  • Patent number: 8413339
Abstract: A knife having a body and a slide member slideable in the body. The slide member engages a blade assembly that is arranged to move with the slide member. The slide member is movable to position the blade assembly at a position of use and a release position wherein the blade assembly can be released from the slide member. The slide member is movable to retract the blade assembly into the knife body. The knife also includes an actuator member that can be actuated to move the slide member to a disengaged configuration wherein the blade assembly can be disengaged from the slide member to permit the release therefrom. The positioning of the blade assembly at the release position and subsequent movement of the slide member to the disengaged configuration by actuation of the actuator member releases the blade assembly from the slide member.

  • Patent number: 8413343
Abstract: The present disclosure includes an extendable plumb and level measuring device and associated usage method. The device can utilize interconnected members including a first, a second, and a third member. For example, the third member can be slidingly disposed within the first and second members to extend the device to a set and arbitrary length. The measuring device utilizes a spirit level or digital reader to determine when the device itself is level responsive to positioning a extendable stopper against a construction, such as a wall, door, panel, and the like. Once level, a measuring device, such as a ruler, disposed within the device can be utilized to measure the plumb of the construction. Additionally, the device can function as an extendable level to measure an arbitrary length.

Abstract: A shutter with a frame having side members and top and bottom members, and louvres mounted between the side members, and a control for controlling and tilting the louvres, and louvre seals at the top and bottom of the frame, the louvre seals being loosely supported on the top and bottom of the frame, the top frame loosely supporting the top seal in a vertically dependent position, and the bottom frame loosely supporting the bottom seal in an upright standing position, and which render the two louvre seals swingable to allow sealing contact by the top and bottom louvres, when the louvres are tilted closed, and which seals swing back to vertical when released by the louvres. In a preferred form the blade seals are incorporated in frame extensions, with the frame extensions being swingable on the frames, and being biassed to hang vertical when out of contact with the louvres .

  • Patent number: 8413380
Abstract: A universal swing hinge assembly and gravity-closing gate assembly can be attached to a guardrail on either side of a guardrail opening. A hinge pin can be disposed through the universal swing hinge assembly and the gravity-closing gate for attaching the gravity-closing gate thereto. The universal swing hinge assembly can have a C-configuration that allows the gravity-closing gate to swing open in either direction from a lowest neutral position. A recess of the universal swing hinge assembly can have an angled hinge face that opens towards the guardrail opening. In operation, the angled hinge face can cause the gravity-closing gate to rise from the lowest neutral position when the gravity-closing gate is opening, and the angled hinge face can cause the gravity-closing gate to return to the lowest neutral position when closing.

  • Patent number: 8413382
Abstract: A second hinge plate supported pivotally on a first hinge plate using a shaft member so as to open and close. In the second hinge plate, a bracket is molded integrally at the upper edge of the end opposite the shaft member. A vertical shaft of a hold-stay rod is loosely fitted into a shaft hole of the bracket so as to move rotationally and slide in a vertical direction. A horizontal shaft of the hold-stay rod is inserted into a guide hole of a guide plate welded to the first hinge plate and slidable, and a stopper is folded and formed at the leading end of the hold-stay rod. The stopper is inserted into an engaging hole by movement from a guide to a receiving plate due to the opening movement of the second hinge plate and can be taken out from the engaging hole by a pushing-up operation.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mobile folding choral riser having lift-assist and stability mechanisms. In particular, the choral riser includes a gas cylinder that provides a force tending to extend the cylinder to assist in folding the riser into a storage position, the cylinder providing substantially no force to resist rapid extension thereof. In addition, the choral riser preferably includes a back railing linkage that permits independent raising and lowering of a back railing member when the choral riser is in a use or partially folded position but constrains the back railing member to a raised position when the choral riser is in an at least substantially fully folded position.

  • Patent number: 8413385
Abstract: An electrical equipment rack, such as a computer server rack, with a protective shield to protect the electrical equipment rack and equipment thereon from water damage is described. In general, the shield is constructed of a curved polycarbonate shell fastened to an aluminum frame having arc-shaped end sections attached to spaced elongated side rails. The aluminum frame is attachable to threaded rod hangers of the type that are used in most server rack rooms. Multiple shields may be fastened together end-to-end to increase the length of the overall shield, to extend over the entire length of the server racks or cabinets needed to be protected. Gaskets such as neoprene seals are compressed between shield sections to prevent water from penetrating between the fastened sections. Deployable curtains are fastened to the elongated side rails to further protect the electrical equipment rack from water damage.
