  • Patent number: 8442046
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes setting a re-flood time to a non-zero first value. Update data that indicates a change to link data is received over a network interface from an updating node of multiple nodes on a multi-access segment connected to the interface. The change is to link data that indicates links on the updating node. It is determined whether an acknowledgment message is not received within the re-flood time from a particular node of the multiple nodes. If an acknowledgment message is not received within the re-flood time, then a multicast packet directed to the multiple nodes and including the change to the link data is sent over onto the segment. This method enables rapid response to failure of a primary node designated to ensure reliable flooding of link data.

  • Patent number: 8442053
Abstract: A first Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Internet Protocol (IP) data network transmits data to a second MPLS IP network via a legacy network, which would not otherwise be able to handle the required user network interface (UNI) protocol by configuring the legacy network and its network management system (TNMS) so that they emulate an MPLS network. When a first network element (NE) receives a connection (UNI) request from the MPLS network under a UNI protocol, the UNI request is passed to the TNMS, which then sets the required connection across the legacy network via a second edge NE to an NE of the second network. Once the connection has been set, the TNMS instructs the edge NE to send a return signal to the requesting network indicating that the connection has been successfully set. Data packets may then be transmitted across the network.

  • Patent number: 8442054
Abstract: A method and core network node for establishing a connection between a first access node and a second access node. The first access node sends to a first core network node, a connection establishment request that includes a set of framing protocol parameters for the framing of information to be sent over an interface between the first access node and the first core network node. The first core network node stores the parameter set and initializes a connection to a further core network node according to the framing protocol. If the further core network node is not connectable to the second access node, connections are successively made to additional core network nodes until reaching a final core network node connectable to the second access node. The final core network node initializes the connection to the second access node, which stores the parameter set. The connection is then established between the first access node and the second access node utilizing the parameter set.

  • Patent number: 8442069
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate resource management in a wireless communication system. Various techniques described herein can enable a network cell in a wireless communication system (e.g. a macro cell) to mitigate the effects of interference on other surrounding network cells (e.g., femto cells embedded within the coverage of the macro cell). For example, a network cell can allocate control resources that overlap control resources of a nearby cell and assign resources within the region of overlap only to users that will not cause substantial interference to the nearby cell. As another example, a network cell can utilize a control channelization that partially coincides with a control and/or random access channelization of a nearby cell. The network cell can subsequently elect not to use the control resources in the coinciding region in order to enable the nearby cell to control the effects of interference though data scheduling.

  • Patent number: 8442074
Abstract: The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for passing timing information over packet networks. In one exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a transmitter inserts a timestamp into various packets being transmitted. A receiver determines the packet delay for each of these packets. The receiver monitors the packet delays of received packets over time to estimate a minimum packet delay for the network. Thereafter, the receiver uses the timestamps of received packets in order to update a local receiver clock signal so that the local receiver clock signal is synchronous to the clock signal used by the transmitter to generate the timestamps. However, the receiver filters the received timestamps such that the effects of packet delay variation to the synchronization of the local clock signals are reduced.

  • Patent number: 8442076
Abstract: A timing control system includes a counter that is initiated by a time accurate strobe (TAS) signal. A counter value is recorded when a message arrives in a buffer. A baseband integrated circuit (BBIC) calculates an integer number of counter periods and a fraction of a counter period corresponding to a timing correction value received from a base station. The BBIC issues a TAS signal during a counter period that occurs at the integer number of counter periods. At an expiration of the fraction of an ensuing counter period, the first one of a plurality of frame time slots is sent from the buffer to an antenna via a radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC). The BBIC calculates, then stores in a memory, timing adjust values for the plurality of frame time slots so that each frame time slot can be time adjusted during message transmissions without an issuance of an additional TAS signal.
