Publication number: 20130153313Abstract: [Problem] The motive power of a hybrid vehicle is the driving power of a gasoline engine, the electric power produced by a generator coupled to the engine, and the electric power obtained by conversion from kinetic energy into electric energy through a regeneration brake during deceleration. Also, an electric vehicle uses the electric power of a battery as its motive power by converting kinetic energy into electric energy through a regeneration brake during deceleration and storing the electric energy. However, the regenerated energy is little. [Solution] While keeping intact the damping effect of shock absorbers conventionally mounted on the suspension of a vehicle, an oil pump function is added. The electric power produced by storing, in an accumulator, oil pressure-fed from the shock absorbers, driving a hydraulic motor under increased oil pressure, driving a generator coupled to the hydraulic motor is used as part of the motive power.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Inventor: Akihiko Okamoto

Publication number: 20130153353Abstract: A multiple ratio transmission having an input shaft, an output shaft and oncoming clutch and off-going clutch for effecting ratio upshifts is provided. The transmission also includes a transmission controller configured for controlling shifts. During the torque phase of a ratio upshift, the controller increases input torque. Next, the controller estimates an oncoming clutch target torque. The controller controls a torque input to ensure the off-going clutch remains locked. The controller measures an actual transmission value for a torque transmitting element of the transmission and corrects the oncoming clutch target torque using the actual transmission value whereby an increasing torque for the oncoming friction element is achieved with minimal torque transients along the output shaft during the upshift.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Christopher John Teslak, Gregory Michael Pietron, Hongtei Eric Tseng, Yuji Fujii, Michael Glenn Fodor, Diana Yanakiev, Seung-Hoon Lee

Publication number: 20130153354Abstract: A vehicle includes a motive power source, a transmission, and a clutch system. The vehicle further includes a controller that causes the clutch system to generate a generally constant clutch pressure to mechanically couple the motive power source and transmission as a line pressure associated with the transmission varies.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Daniel Scott Colvin, Bernard D. Publication number: 20130153355Abstract: A wet clutch assembly has an inner housing configured for rotation with an input torque member to the clutch assembly. The inner housing has a series of splines to support a portion of the plates in a clutch pack. Each spline defines a single aperture in fluid communication with at least one plate of the clutch pack, and apertures on adjacent splines are offset to distribute cooling fluid nearly equally between friction surfaces. Uniform flow distribution ensures efficient use of cooling fluid and prevents overheating of plates receiving lesser fluid flow.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: EATON CORPORATIONInventors: Martin Eugene Kummer, Mark Charles Barnholt

Publication number: 20130153356Abstract: The invention relates to a drive assembly on a twin-clutch transmission for motor vehicles, including two clutches which are axially connected in succession in a transmission housing and are positioned between spaced-apart end walls of the transmission housing and which have each a preferably drum-shaped drive element which is driven by an input shaft of the transmission, with the clutches being in driving relationship, preferably alternatingly, via two preferably pot-shaped output elements with two output shafts in coaxial arrangement to the input shafts. According to the invention, the input shaft (14) which is rotatably mounted in the region of a first end wall (12a) is guided up to the second end wall (10a) located in opposition to the first end wall (12a) and is rotatably mounted there indirectly via the output shafts (24, 26) which are also rotatably mounted in the region of the second end wall (10a).Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: AUDI AGInventors: Hans-Peter Fleischmann, Rupert Wagner

Publication number: 20130153358Abstract: A friction plate for a clutch assembly includes a core plate and a plurality of friction segments made of a friction material. A plurality of grooves are disposed between said plurality of friction segments. Each segment has tapered sides so that the grooves have a first width adjacent the outer diameter of the core plate and a smaller second width smaller adjacent the inner diameter of the core plate. This tapered groove structure directs oil from the outside the clutch assembly to the inside to improve cooling efficiency.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Inventors: Bulent Chavdar, Scott T. Publication number: 20130153359Abstract: Taught herein is a clutch control apparatus that suppresses oil leakage from a seal member of a hydraulic cylinder even when vibration occurs, without enhancing sealability of the seal member per se. The clutch control apparatus includes normally-closed first clutch, a hydraulic cylinder, a piston, a lip seal and a pressure holding control section. The first clutch is disposed between an engine and driving wheels and is held in engagement by an elastic force applied to the first clutch CL1 by a diaphragm spring. The lip seal is disposed on the piston and enhances sealability between the piston and a housing slide surface in accordance with an increase in hydraulic pressure in the piston chamber. When the first clutch is engaged, the pressure holding control section applies a hydraulic pressure to retain the sealability of the lip seal to the piston chamber while maintaining engagement of the first clutch.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: NISSAN MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Makoto Ogata, Akira Suwabayashi
