  • Publication number: 20130167843
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for piloting a pneumatic valve using one or more piezoelectric blowers. According to embodiments, the one or more piezoelectric blowers may be coupled to the pneumatic valve to form a small, light-weight pneumatic valve that may be placed proximal to a ventilated patient, e.g., at the patient wye or the patient interface. Due to the close coupling of the one or more piezoelectric blowers, the pneumatic valve has a substantially shorter response time than traditional pneumatically piloted valves. Moreover, when piezoelectric blowers are coupled to the pneumatic valve in parallel, response time may be further decreased. Additionally or alternatively, when piezoelectric blowers are coupled to the pneumatic valve in series, pilot pressure may be increased as a function of the number of piezoelectric blowers in the series.

Abstract: A heel protection method and device for the protection of heel ulcers includes an inflatable bladder adapted to be positioned adjacent a calf of a patient and a sensor adapted to be positioned adjacent a heel of the patient for detecting pressure at the heel. A microprocessor is adapted to receive a signal related to pressure at the heel, from which it determines whether an allowable level has been exceeded. If an excessive pressure level is sensed, the microprocessor transmits a signal to a separate device that alerts the caregiver to inflate the inflatable bladder or automatically by way of a pump operatively connected to the microprocessor. The method and device avoids excessive pressure at the heel by sensing the pressure at the heel, and redistributing the pressure from the heel to the calf if an allowable pressure level has been exceeded.

Abstract: Stacked inner and outer discs are mounted over an air blower inlet opening of each blower in a car wash system drying zone with matched sets of radial slots and spokes formed in each disc. An actuator rotates one disc between positions in which the set of slots in one disc is aligned with the set of slots in the other disc to allow air flow into the blower inlet to dry a car in the dryer zone to a position in which the set of spokes overlie the set of slots in the other disc to thereby block inlet air flow to reduce the load on a blower motor when a car is not in the dryer zone.

Abstract: Provided is a cleaning processing device that is for a biological implant and that is capable of quickly eliminating ozone generated by ultraviolet-ray radiation after completion of ultraviolet-ray radiation towards the biological implant. The cleaning processing device for a biological implant performs cleaning processing of the biological implant by means of radiating ultraviolet rays at the surface of the biological implant and by causing ozone to contact the surface of the biological implant, and the cleaning processing device is characterized by being provided with a housing, an ultraviolet-ray radiating lamp that is disposed within the housing and that radiates ultraviolet rays at the biological implant, an ozone-removing filter disposed within the housing, and a fan that introduces the ambient gas within the housing to the ozone-removing filter, and is further characterized by the fan being driven in response to the end of cleaning processing of the biological implant.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for cleaning jacks in portable electronic components. In one embodiment of the present invention, an adaptor plug is designed having a hollow shaft and the end of the plug is designed with holes that communication with the hollow shaft. The plug can be inserted into a jack, which can operate to open one or more switches within the jack, thereby freeing any debris that may have accumulated under the switches. Compressed air can then be applied down the hollow shaft and out the holes in the plug to displace the debris and clean the jack. In another embodiment, the end of the plug can be constructed such that it rotates about an axis to increase the likelihood that the jack will be cleaned.

Abstract: A substrate processing apparatus (1) includes a bath body (11), cover members (12), processing liquid nozzles (31) for ejecting an SPM liquid like a shower, and gas nozzles (32) for ejecting nitrogen gas. The processing liquid nozzles eject a processing liquid (91) onto substrates (9) from sidewalls (111) of the bath body (11). By ejecting gas toward lower surfaces of the cover members from the gas nozzles before the substrates are loaded into the bath body, it is possible to remove droplets of the processing liquid deposited on the lower surfaces of the cover members during the previous processing of the substrates or during a temperature control where the processing liquid is ejected from the processing liquid nozzles. It is thereby possible to prevent or reduce deposition of droplets of the processing liquid dropped onto the substrates immediately after being loaded into the bath body.

Abstract: In a substrate processing apparatus, a liquid film of a supercooled liquid of pure water is formed on the upper surface of a substrate and then cooled with cooling gas into a frozen film. The temperature of the liquid film is lower than the freezing point of pure water, and thus the liquid film is in an easy-to-freeze state. Thus, the time required to freeze the liquid film can be shortened. Even if the temperature of the cooling gas is increased, the liquid film can be speedily frozen as compared with the case in which a liquid film is formed of pure water having a temperature higher than its freezing point. Thus, heat insulating facilities such as piping that supply cooling gas can be simplified. This results in a reduction of the cooling cost required to freeze the liquid film.

Abstract: Methods are disclosed to create and employ the use of non-vapor, non-condensable gas bubbles inside a process chamber. These non-vapor gas bubbles may be rapidly expanded and compressed in pressure-controlled cycles and can assist in the transport of fluids, particles, and by-products to and from surfaces. The gas bubbles can be generated from dissolved gas to the liquid medium, by mixing two liquids that can react with each other to generate gaseous by-products, or by using a liquid medium that can react with the surface of the object to generate gaseous by-products. The gaseous generation can be used with cyclic nucleation transport (CNX) process, such as vacuum CNX, hyperbaric CNX, or dynamic CNX.
