Abstract: A non-halogenated flame retardant filler having phosphorous-modified inorganic particles imparts flame retardancy to manufactured articles such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), connectors, and other articles of manufacture that employ thermosetting plastics or thermoplastics. Phosphorous-modified silica particles, for example, may serve both as a filler for rheology control (viscosity, flow, etc.) and a flame retardant. In an exemplary application, a PCB laminate stack-up includes conductive planes separated from each other by a dielectric material that includes a non-halogenated flame retardant filler comprised of phosphorous-modified silica particles. In an exemplary method of synthesizing phosphorous-modified silica particles, a vinyl-terminated phosphorous-based monomer (e.g., a phosphorous based flame retardant functionalized to contain a vinyl functional group) is reacted with vinyl functionalized silica particles (i.e.

Abstract: Improved form-less electronic apparatus and methods for manufacturing the same. In one exemplary embodiment, the apparatus comprises a shape-core inductive device having a bonded-wire coil which is formed and maintained within the device without resort to a bobbin or other form(er). The absence of the bobbin simplifies the manufacture of the device, reduces its cost, and allows it to be made more compact (or alternatively additional functionality to be disposed therein). One variant utilizes a termination header for mating to a PCB or other assembly, while another totally avoids the use of the header by directly mating to the PCB. Multi-core variants and methods of manufacturing are also disclosed.

Abstract: An ejector pump or jet pump is for use in the drilling of wells in the underground for the production of oil and gas, for example, in which it is the purpose to prevent the total fluid pressure at the bottom of the borehole from reaching a level which constitutes a risk of cracking the rock or sediment being drilled, thus resulting in leakage and circulation failure. For this purpose, the pump is placed between the drill bit and the drill string by means of standard pipe couplings and formed as an elongated cylindrical element with external, longitudinal pump elements with nozzles directed in such a way that low pressure is established externally at the drill bit. The pump is operated by the drilling fluid which is supplied in the normal way from the drill string. The pressure difference across the pump is used to draw a secondary flow of drilling fluid from the established borehole through internal bores in the pump casing to the ordinary nozzles in the drill bit.

At least one inner race or one outer race of the rolling bearing is split into two race parts along a parting plane that runs approximately perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the rotating component, the two parts being axially spring-loaded against one another, wherein the ends of the race parts facing one another are aligned at an angle from the radial outer side thereof to the radial inner side thereof, and an element with a conical cross section and having a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the outer ring or the inner ring is placed between the ends so that when heat is introduced, the element expands and the race parts are able to move toward one another, and when the element cools the race parts can move apart axially.

Abstract: In a conventional hard material insulator, reproduced sound can be tuned with use of characteristics of the material; however, various types of acoustic materials have specific high frequency characteristics, and thus their acoustic effects lack versatility, require compatible audio devices, and change with environment, musical genre, etc. To address this, a wind-bell member (resonant member) is arranged in parallel with a main propagation path of vibration transferred from an audio device to an insulator. Accordingly, a vibration system of a wind-bell having a tone determined by many factors such as a fundamental tone, harmonic tones, lingering sound, and fluctuation assists (enhances) high frequency vibration propagated from the audio device. As a result, due to the above assist action that is different in principle from a conventional type, acoustic characteristics such as a sense of localization, resolution, and a sense of transparency and scale a sound image can be dramatically improved.

Abstract: An acoustic damper is fixed to a vibration source to be provided along an outer surface of the vibration source, forms a passage that takes in air vibration generated by the vibration source, and is provided with an acoustic portion having a partition member closing the downstream side of the passage with respect to the propagation of the air vibration to serve as resistance against the air vibration, in which the acoustic portion allows air vibration to propagate in a reverse direction, and has partition members arranged so as to serve as resistance against the air vibration in respective directions. This allows to prevent from generating stress due to pressure fluctuation caused when reducing vibration, and to achieve a relatively compact size.
