Abstract: Stimuli-responsive highly absorbent superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) are used to harness water to augment water supply and solve water crisis. Rain water is harnessed in fabric-based sachets or bags partially filled with the polymers. The hydrated polymers are used to store water in warehouses for an extended period of time and the invention may obviate the need to construct controversial huge dams and canals or drill wells. The stored water in superabsorbent polymers is released at the point of use by any stimulus which may be light-induced, electrical, thermal or chemical treatment. SAPs with 2000 g/g of absorbency can yield 99.95% pure water in solid/gel form. An ultra SAP with absorbency of 10,000 g/g of the polymer could hold 10 billion cu.m. of water in one million tonnes of the polymer. This is more than the storage capacity of a typical large dam over a river.

Abstract: It is a lead acid battery vent cap device, herein called “Acid Stripper”, to be used in the formation process of battery manufacturing. During the process, the batteries generate acid mist which vents out from battery. The acid mist is an undesirable condition. The “Acid Stripper” removes the liquid part and drops it back into the battery. It consists of a battery cap with gasket on which is molded and or or attached a static mixing tube. The static mixing tube contains a set of double helixes insert which substantially prevent acid from escaping to the outside of the battery during the formation process. The prevention of the acid escape eliminates the damage to the floor, the environment, the equipment and the people breathing the air. The additional benefits are, no acid loss, less topping off after formation, and prevention of explosions.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a power production system that is adapted to achieve high efficiency power production with complete carbon capture when using a solid or liquid hydrocarbon or carbonaceous fuel. More particularly, the solid or liquid fuel first is partially oxidized in a partial oxidation reactor. The resulting partially oxidized stream that comprises a fuel gas is quenched, filtered, cooled, and then directed to a combustor of a power production system as the combustion fuel. The partially oxidized stream is combined with a compressed recycle CO2 stream and oxygen. The combustion stream is expanded across a turbine to produce power and passed through a recuperator heat exchanger. The expanded and cooled exhaust stream is scrubbed to provide the recycle CO2 stream, which is compressed and passed through the recuperator heat exchanger and the POX heat exchanger in a manner useful to provide increased efficiency to the combined systems.

Abstract: An aircraft gas turbine thrust-reversing device has an engine cowling, the rear area of which is displaceable in the axial direction of the engine from a closed forward thrust position into a rearwardly displaced thrust reversal position, resulting in an essentially annular space to a front and stationary area of the engine cowling. The rear area of the engine cowling is coupled to deflecting elements and blocker doors, which in the forward thrust position are arranged completely inside the front area of the engine cowling. A drive element is provided between the front area and the rear area, which effects the axial displacement of the rear area. The drive element is a two-stage drive element, effecting in a first stage an axial displacement by an axial partial displacement path, and in a second stage an axial displacement by the full axial displacement path.
