    Abstract: A force-sensitive toothbrush incorporates a bistable mechanism into the toothbrush handle. The mechanism can alert a user to excessive brushing force by changing shape in response to brushing forces exceeding a predetermined threshold. The mechanism can also automatically return to its original state when the brushing forces are lowered back down below the predetermined level. In one aspect, the mechanism may include a force-sensitive region having a principal beam and a secondary notched hinge buckling support beam located within the handle between the bristles and the gripping portion of the toothbrush. In another aspect, the force-sensitive region includes a principal beam and a secondary un-notched buckling support beam. In another aspect, the force-sensitive region includes a principal beam and a secondary support beam with a toothed clutch. These mechanisms can advantageously be molded into an integral toothbrush body using an injection molding operation.

    Abstract: A method of leveling a machine on a support surface includes supporting the machine on the support surface, the machine including multiple load-bearing supports, and inserting a stack of support plates underneath a load-bearing support of the multiple load-bearing supports, the stack of support plates having an area and a strength that are sufficient to support the machine. The stack of support plates includes a first plate that includes multiple projections that extend outward from a bottom surface of the first plate and a second plate that includes multiple recesses that extend inward from a top surface of the second plate, the multiple recesses being sized to receive the multiple projections, respectively, and multiple grooves disposed along respective edges of the top surface. When the first plate is stacked adjacent the second plate, the first and second plates bear against each other to support a load of the machine.

    Abstract: In manufacturing multilayer plastic laminates for printed circuits, a press with two surfaces exerts pressure under vacuum on a stack of laminates, the packs, alternated with separator plates made of anodized aluminum. The packs include prepreg layers. The metalizations present on the two sides of each pack are portions of a copper strip repeatedly folded 180° around each pack and each separator plate. A strong current circulates in the copper strip which heats the strip with resistive behavior: the heat causes the close fixing of the various layers. An auxiliary heater is applied to each surface of the press by element of an interposed insulating plate. This includes an aluminum plate with equidistant longitudinal holes containing the same number of armored candle-like resistors, connected in parallel. A main power supply provides direct current to the copper strip, two secondary power supplies provide alternating current to the two auxiliary heaters.
