Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide an optical leveling system and method. Embodiments of the present invention utilize a pendulum having an opening through which light can pass to create varying light patterns in response to movement of the pendulum relative to an enclosure. The varying light patterns are detected and utilized to determine the position of the pendulum relative to the enclosure, which can be expressed as degrees and increments of degrees of deviation from a level condition. Embodiments of the present invention can be utilized, for example, to remotely monitor whether a mainframe computer system is level and, if necessary, alert service personnel.

Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting a measurement object, comprising a workpiece support for supporting the measurement object and a measuring head carrying an optical sensor. The measuring head and the workpiece support are movable relative to one another. The optical sensor has an objective and a camera designed to capture an image of the measurement object. The objective has a light entrance opening and a light exit opening, and comprises a multitude of lens-element groups arranged in the objective between the light entrance opening and the light exit opening one behind another along a longitudinal axis of the objective. Furthermore, the apparatus has a reflection element and a calibration arrangement. The reflection element can selectively be introduced into a beam path running from the measurement object through the objective to the camera. The calibration arrangement is coupled into the beam path to the camera by means of the reflection element.

Abstract: A test device for testing whether a coaxial accuracy between a test hole and a standard hole of an object is qualified or not includes a base to support the object, a fixing member to fix the object, and a positioning member and a testing member respectively mounted to a bottom and a top of the base. The positioning member includes a positioning pole to be inserted into a standard hole of the object. The testing member includes a testing pole slidably relative to and aligning with the positioning pole. A diameter of the testing pole is set to be equal to a standard diameter of a test hole subtracting a coaxial tolerance of the test hole. If the testing pole is capable of being inserted into the test hole, the coaxial accuracy between the test and standard holes of the object is qualified.

Abstract: A postal compliance tool is described that includes: a first rectangular component, wherein the first component has a height (h1), a length (l1), a width (w1), a top side, a bottom side, and two ends; a second rectangular component, wherein the second component has a height (h2), a length (l2), a width (w2), a top side, a bottom side and two ends; and a substantially flat base that has a length (l3), a width (w3), a height (h3), a top side and a bottom side. A flat one-piece postal compliance pre-tool is also disclosed that includes: at least one depression, at least one sticky or adhesive area, at least one mateable hole and insert coupling, or a combination thereof, wherein the flat one-piece postal compliance tool is formed into the postal compliance tools disclosed herein.

Abstract: A drawing template set includes a planar anchor ring having an outer diameter and an inner diameter, a rotary increment scale marked at least part way along the outer diameter, and a first registration interface at at least one point on the inner diameter, and a planar template having an outer diameter providing a slip fit into the inner diameter of the planar anchor ring, one or more through slots or other openings enabling a user to draw specific lines and shapes on a drawing surface to which the template may be applied, and a second registration interface on the outer diameter matching the first registration interface of the planar anchor ring, enabling the user place the planar template in the anchor ring for use, to remove it as desired, and to replace it with a different template fashioned for a different purpose.

Abstract: A test device includes a base rested on an object, an inserting member slidably mounted to the base and contacts a slanted surface of a chamfer of the object, and a test member slidably rested on the base. The base includes a positioning bar abutting a bottom end of the chamfer. A first cutout and a second cutout communicating with the first cutout and positioned in front of the first cutout are defined in a bottom surface of the testing member. A depth of the second cutout equals the tolerance of a standard depth of the chamfer. If a top surface of the inserting member can be received in the second cutout, the depth of the chamfer is qualified. If the top surface of the inserting member cannot be received in the second cutout, the depth of the chamfer is unqualified.

Abstract: An aeration system for aerating particulate materials disposed in a storage bin. A plurality of elongated hollow wall aerators is provided. Each wall aerator is disposed inside the storage bin having a substantially vertical orientation and is mounted adjacent to an inside surface of a wall of the storage bin. Each wall aerator has at least an opening for transmitting air from inside the wall aerator to the particulate materials. Each of a plurality of convection air inlets is connected to a bottom portion of a respective wall aerator. Each convection air inlet provides outside air to the respective wall aerator through a respective opening disposed in a bottom portion of the storage bin using natural convection.

Abstract: A process for removing water and solutes from the lumens of green wood, while leaving the cell walls throughout the wood uniformally fully swollen, comprises subjecting the green wood to supercritical carbon dioxide.

Abstract: A controlling method for a dryer is applied to a dryer, in which at least one of a heat pump system and a heater is selected as a heat source for heating air supplied in to a drum and a heat supply capacity of the heat pump system is more than that of the heater. The controlling method includes, when both the heat pump system and the heater are selected as the heat sources, turning the heat pump system on, turning the heater on after the heat pump system is normally turned on, turning the heater off to cool the drum and terminate drying after the drying is performed, and turning the heat pump system off after the heater is turned off.

Abstract: A method of controlling and enhancing the nucleation of product in a freeze dryer, wherein the product is maintained at a predetermined temperature and pressure in a chamber of the freeze dryer, and a predetermined volume of condensed frost is created on an inner surface of a condenser chamber separate from the product chamber and connected thereto by a vapor port. The condenser chamber has a predetermined pressure that is greater than that of the product chamber. The opening of the vapor port into the product chamber creates gas turbulence that breaks down the condensed frost into ice crystals that rapidly enter the product chamber for even distribution therein to create uniform and rapid nucleation of the product in different areas of the product chamber.

Abstract: Solids drying equipment via an axial flow process can include a plenum, a product to dry distributor feeder, drying air distribution pipe, one or more upper diffusion modules(s), one or more drying chamber(s), lower air diffusion module, with four to sixteen discharge bases with a hollow pyramidal format, discharge hopper, with a sluice, with a drying air feeding pipe and with a vertical output air tube provided with air output extensions. Such equipment may obtain better productivity and may allow for uniform insufflation of a large volume of air in a reduced space, for example, in addition to allowing seeds temperature to be maintained in safe levels due to the greater height of the drying layer, and allowing a progressive rest of seeds which, during motion by gravity, go towards the drying air at the bottom of the chamber.

Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of an exemplary embodiment, a dryer for removing hydrocarbons and/or moisture from metal chips is provided. The dryer has a chamber including a top portion and a base portion. The top portion is comprised of a material having a higher emissivity than the material forming the base portion. A burner is provided which introduces heated gas into the top portion. A device for transporting the metal chips is provided in the base portion. The device receives the metal chips at an inlet and transporting the metal chips to an outlet.

Abstract: Footwear with a powerful arch spring made with spring boards that can be utilized by the heel and ball of the foot areas during impact for efficient energy storage and return during walking, running and other forms of self-propelled locomotion. The spring boards can extend into the toe area of the footwear to create a toe spring with efficient energy storage and return. Embodiments of the present invention combine the spring boards which are excellent for storing and returning energy with a shock absorbing material which can also function as a secondary spring in order to achieve high efficiency energy returns while maintaining comfort and stability with the footwear.

Abstract: A new shoe sole cover accessory for providing a way to reduce friction between feet and carpeted or rubber type surfaces for dance fitness. The inventive device includes a piece of smooth fabric material such as 210 denier coated nylon oxford fabric and two fastening bands such as elastic, affixed parallel to one another. One fastening band attaches to two corners of the fabric while the other fastening band attaches to the other two corners of the fabric, thus creating an attachable shoe sole cover accessory for friction reduction on carpet for dance fitness. The shoe sole cover accessory is then attached to the shoes by sliding the fastening bands over the top surface of the shoe, with the fabric sliding over the bottom surface of the shoe. When attached securely in this manner, the shoe sole cover accessory reduces friction between carpet or rubber type surface and feet.

Abstract: A shoe design is expandable along its lengthwise axis utilizing one or both of a sliding outsole configuration or a sliding insole configuration. In one embodiment, the shoe has a multipart upper and/or multipart outsole interconnected by an expandable section made of a stretchable material which surrounds a pair of insole members arranged in an overlapping manner but allowed to move freely relative to one another as the expandable section expands or contracts. In one embodiment, the outsole of the shoe is slidably received within the heel of the shoe so as to allow for lengthwise expansion of the outsole as the upper portion of the shoe expands.

Abstract: A changeable shoe can convert between various functions depending on the user's style or activity needs. The shoe can include a removable sole or heel that can change the shoe from a walking shoe to a cleated shoe for a particular activity, for example. The shoe can include a removable heel where a user can adjust between higher or lower length heels. The shoe can also include covers that can change the exterior of the shoe from, for example, a standard shoe, to a boot, to a laced up boot, and the like. The removable sole and/or heel can attach to the shoe base in various manners, such as with a hook and loop fastener, or with a locking pin and/or tab, or the like.

Abstract: A snowshoe with an integrated articulating link wherein said surface support structure and said foot connector plate are connected by a multi-axial articulating link. The surface support structure, said foot connector plate and said articulating link constitute a structural unit, a mono-construction. The multi-axial tilt motion in said articulating link is achieved by extension and compression in the material structure. The extension and compression in the material structure is controlled by one or more corrugations in the arms.

Abstract: A bicycle shoe includes a sole, a shoe upper portion, and a fixing strap. The shoe upper portion is coupled to the sole to form a foot receiving space. The shoe upper portion includes first and second attachment sections. The fixing strap has a proximal end attached to a part of the shoe upper portion. The fixing strap includes third and fourth attachment sections. The shoe upper portion and the fixing strap selectively maintain one of a first state in which the third attachment section of the fixing strap is releasably attached to the first attachment section of the shoe upper portion and a second state in which the fourth attachment section of the fixing strap is releasably attached to the second attachment section of the shoe upper portion. The foot receiving space is larger in the second state than in the first state.

Alternatively, the sleeve may be permanently attached to the boot. Abstract: An injection moulded sole (10) has an upper ungrooved portion (2) and a lower tread portion (4). At least two, continuous, undulating S-shaped grooves (6) extend generally longitudinally of the tread portion between the toe and heel ends thereof, and a plurality of grooves extending generally transversely intersect the longitudinally extending undulating grooves. The grooves have a minimum depth of about 5 mm and define individual separated tread areas (28) which can be moved apart during flexing of the sole (10). The flexibility of the sole is such that when it is incorporated in footwear, it does not restrict rolling movements of the foot when walking so that a gait can be adopted which is akin to barefoot walking.

The shoe may have a cutting edge that is curved from a leading edge to a trailing edge thereof.

The Leash Sleeve is screen printed with whatever saying the owner would like to communicate and then it is sewn into a sleeve that slips onto all standard sized leashes. Some common sayings for the Leash Sleeve are “Adopt Me”, “Therapy Dog”, “Ask to Pet”. The Leash Sleeve is made of material that is most times 100% cotton but sometimes a polyester/cotton blend. It is sewn and screenprinted.

Abstract: A sign guard for protecting pedestrians and pets from sharp edges of a sign is disclosed. The sign guard may have a recess within which the sign is received. The recess may be sufficiently deep to cover the sharp edges of the sign to mitigate injury to pedestrians and pets. The sign guard may have a through hole for lightening the weight of the sign guard as well as relieving stress to prevent warpage during certain manufacturing techniques. Additionally, the sign guard may have two (2) mounting pads which protrude inwardly into the through hole for mounting the sign and sign guard to a post. Holes may be drilled or preformed in the mounting pads that line up to the mounting holes of the sign.

Abstract: A recoil reducing buffer and stock adaptor having a front portion adapted to fit into and connectively engage with the backplate of an H&K-style rifle and a rear portion comprising an aperture adapted to accept and connectively engage with an AR-15/M16 buffer tube. The adaptor attaches to an H&K-style rifle between the action or receiver and the buttstock and allows the rifle to accept and function with a larger and/or stronger H&K-style rifle buffer than its original factory-installed buffer. The adaptor reduces the recoil of an H&K-style rifle by allowing the rifle to function with a larger and/or stronger H&K-style recoil buffer than its original factory-installed buffer. The adaptor also makes substantially all existing H&K-style rifles compatible with substantially all current and existing H&K-style rifle stocks and AR-style rifle stocks and stock accessories.

Abstract: Disclosed is a bolt assembly that may include several lands that extend along the forward end of the bolt assembly that occupy only about 1 percent to about 12 percent of the surface area of the forward end. Also disclosed is a bolt carrier that defines a cam path that includes an increased unlock dwell time of approximately twice the unlock dwell time provided by a cam path shaped like a standard M-16 cam path. Also disclosed is a bolt carrier that includes a protrusion at a forward end of the bolt carrier with a bore that extends through the protrusion and the bolt carrier at a substantially constant bore diameter, where the protrusion is sized to be received in the barrel extension extends approximately one hundred thousandths of an inch from the end of the bolt carrier.

Abstract: A firearm with keyhole-shaped rail mounting points has a forend element having an exterior surface and interior surface. The forend element defines a plurality of rail mounting apertures extending from the interior surface to the exterior surface. Each of the apertures has a first portion with a first diameter to closely receive a fastener head of a first diameter. Each of the apertures has a second portion with a second width less than the first diameter size to receive a shank portion of a fastener. There may be a recess on the interior surface size to receive the fastener head, the recess positioned at the second portion.

Abstract: A weapon barrel of an automatic firearm contains a muzzle that is set into flexural oscillations by firing, with a damping device for damping the flexural oscillations by frictional processes between a radially projecting friction ring disposed on the muzzle and at least one friction element loaded by of a spring element. Wherein at least one friction element loaded by a separate spring element acts on both sides of the friction ring respectively and is supported so as to be axially movable relative to the muzzle.

Abstract: The embodiment of this device is a magazine carrier for semiautomatic pistols that provides the means for carrying multiple spare magazines, the means to load the magazines, change magazines in the pistol, operate the slide, clear a stoppage i.e. stove pipe/jam, and remove a barrel obstruction. All of these operations may be accomplished with the use of one hand only and is designed for use with either hand. This device has a removable weather resistant cover for environmental and physical protection of the magazines and for discrete carry by the individual. The device is typically worn on the body at the waistline on the right or left side, secured by the use of a belt or other strap using integral belt loops or belt clips or other method.

Abstract: A firearm accessory system can include a housing designed to be attached to a firearm such that the housing is disposed underneath a barrel of the firearm. The housing can include a plurality of cavities formed therein, each of the cavities being configured to enclose and power a plug-and-play lighting or targeting accessory for use with the firearm. The housing can be configured to power all of the accessories received within the plurality of cavities from a single power source. In some embodiments, the housing can include a plurality of accessory compartments formed therein to receive and retain one or more accessories for use with the firearm. Each accessory compartment can be configured to provide an electrical connection between an accessory received in the compartment and a source of power and operatively position the associated accessory with respect to the housing. Firearms incorporating a firearm accessory system are also described.

Abstract: A reticle design is disclosed for use in the first focal plane, which can be used both for close range and long range shooting. A phosphor luminescent material or other type of visible reflecting material is used with a diffraction pattern to enhance the brightness or visibility of all or a portion of the reticle, and may be used alone or in connection with other ways of illuminating the reticle.

Abstract: An accessory that is fitted to a Monocular Night Vision Device (MNVD) rendering the user with the ability to attach said MNVD to a standard telescopic firearm sighting device. The particular invention is completely universal in that it allows users to attach the MNVD to any telescopic sighting device with a rear objective no smaller than 1.5 inches nor larger than 2.0 inches in diameter. The design of the apparatus allows it to function effectively on all firearm actions including automatics, bolt actions, lever actions, break-opens, and drop-blocks. This apparatus when fitted to a MNVD allows the user to use the MNVD as a monocular for spotting targets of interest. Once targets of interest are identified, this particular invention allows the user to quickly attach said MNVD to the telescopic sighting device for engagement and executing the shot with precision. The attachment/detachment process takes less than 3 seconds to effectuate.

Abstract: A fish hook including a hook member for engaging a fish and a harpoon member for engaging a bait, the hook member including a shank, a bend and a point, and the harpoon member including a shank and a barb. The hook shank and harpoon shank may be affixed together or formed from a common wire, and include a common eye for attaching a fishing line. The harpoon shank may parallel the hook shank, may be off-set or bent, and may include multiple barbs. The harpoon member is inserted into a bait in a first direction, thereby retaining the bait on the harpoon member while the fish hook is aimed in a second direction.

Abstract: A buoyant fishing device comprising a substantially hollow container body, a rigging ring operably connected to the body, and an illumination device disposed within said body. The body may include a neck portion. The rigging ring includes a band having a first end and a second end defining a length wherein the band is configured to extend around the container circumferentially and in one embodiment, a securing mechanism is used to fix first end with respect to second end. In another embodiment rigging ring is welded or fused together during manufacture. The illumination device illuminates the body of the buoyant fishing device and may be a glow stick or a light in electronic communication with a battery.

Abstract: Disclosed are grips and methods of making grips for use with the handle of an article, and in particular for use with fishing poles. The grip preferably includes an ethylene vinyl acetate sleeve member and a gripping member having an outer layer and an inner layer. The inner layer of the gripping member is preferably ethylene vinyl acetate and is preferably bonded or adhered to the sleeve member.

Abstract: Disclosed is a line positioning device for use with fishing vessel outriggers. The positioning device employs a housing having a pulley, a resilient bushing positioned next to the pulley, and a lever arm that is strategically positioned to engage a halyard line against the resilient bushing. A halyard line placed through the device is partially wrapped around the pulley where the line can freely move. Locking of the line requires the partial rotation of the lever arm which includes a tip end that presses the line against the resilient bushing. The lever arm includes a detent for engagement of a biased ball for use in holding the lever arm in either a locked or unlocked position.

Abstract: A custom fishing lure and a method for making a custom fishing lure. The fishing lure generally comprises one or more beads threaded on an elastic band. The elastic band secures the bead to a fishing line and, in an embodiment, secures hackle and other components to the fishing lure. The method of the invention generally comprises stretching an elastic band, threading the stretched elastic band and a length of fishing line through the aperture of a bead, and then releasing the tension on the elastic band. In an additional embodiment, the method includes the additional steps of securing the ends of the elastic band so as to hold the elastic band in a stretched condition, threading hackle or other components partially through the bead aperture, and then releasing the ends of the elastic band to secure the hackle or other component on the fishing lure.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a device and a method to eradicate pests, specifically bed bugs by applying heat. The device includes a bag having an inner surface made of thermoreflective material. Preferably the walls and the bottom of the bag are double layered and at least one heater is inserted in between the double layers. The infested clothing is inserted into the bag and after closing the bag the heater is turned on for a short period of time to increase the temperature to 150-220 F. Once the temperature has been reached the heater is turned off and a minimum temperature of 150 F is maintained in the bag.

Abstract: An open mesh insect control material is described which includes an insect contact surface, an internal surface, apertures communicating both surfaces and a plurality of filamentous projections protruding from the insect contact surface the projections at least partly occlude the apertures. The structure is suitable for use in pest control especially as a mosquito net.

Abstract: A blendstock for forming a fuel composition for use in internal-combustion engines, includes a polar fluid component, a microblender component, and a neutralizer component. The neutralizer component is present in an amount effective to substantially neutralize the microblender component to allow for the microblender component to substantially spontaneously blend with the polar fluid component. The polar fluid component may include a water component and an alcohol component, and the neutralizer component may include an ammonia component. The blendstock may be added to a hydrocarbon fuel, such as diesel fuel, to form the fuel composition.

Abstract: The present invention provides highly fluorescent markers, made from a reactive polymer and an isocyanate, that fluoresce in the ultraviolet or near infrared region without being visible to the human eye at low concentrations in the fluid or article being marked. The molecular weight and fluorescence emission wavelength of these highly fluorescent marker compounds can be adjusted to provide a multitude of markers with unique fluorescence signatures.

Abstract: A water-in-fuel emulsion system comprises a reactor device, a fuel intake connected to said reactor device, a water intake connected to said reactor device, a pump connected to said reactor device, and a circulating emulsion reprocessing inline loop connected to said pump and feeding a load as needed in real time, wherein said reactor device comprises a non-vibrating anvil shaped to create cavitation sufficient to emulsify water-in-fuel from said water intake and said fuel intake.

Abstract: An all purpose ground cover is presented for use in a landscape, walk or pathway, driveway or roadway, or other application. The ground cover includes a plurality of particles of stone, gravel or aggregate material, mulch or wood chips, or other natural and/or artificial materials and combinations thereof, mixed with an adhesive or bonding agent to form a coated material that can be easily installed within a portion of an area of application. For example, the coated material, which is moist and pliable before curing, may be shoveled and then raked level in a desired position within the landscape, walk or pathway, driveway or roadway application. Once the adhesive agent cures and hardens the coated material including the plurality of particles is substantially fastened and held together to provide the ground cover.

Abstract: A Mini Chamber is of the type constituted by a plastic container with a top closure lid, inside which a reticulated mesh basket is housed, extended in a horizontal plane, on which the seeds are arranged, which is removably mounted on an intermediate height above the volume of water contained in the bottom of said container. The novelty lies the plastic container is a cylindrical body of vertical axis and circumferential section, with an open top base on which a dome shaped top closure lid is placed. The invention considers the plastic container may be slightly conical, tapering towards its lower base. Preferably, both the top closure lid and the container itself are made of a transparent plastic material such as polycarbonate or polypropylene.
