  • Patent number: 8662435
Abstract: Assembling performance of a torsion bar to a spool is improved. When a webbing take-up device is assembled, the torsion bar is inserted into the spool while catch projections of a serration pillar of the torsion bar are corresponded to insertion grooves of an insertion hole of the spool. Subsequently, in a state where the serration pillar of the torsion bar arrives at an catch hole of the spool, the torsion bar is rotated in a winding direction with respect to the spool, so that the catch projections are caught by catch surfaces of catch grooves of the catch hole, whereby the torsion bar is made non-removable from the spool. Therefore, a direction in which the torsion bar is assembled to the spool is made to be only an axial direction of the spool, and assembling performance of the torsion bar to the spool can be improved.

  • Patent number: 8662436
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for selectively adjusting the maximum payout of a tether from a reel assembly. The maximum payout can be selected by the user via a dial indicator on the end of the apparatus. By rotating the dial, an internal pawl is positioned relative to an associated ring gear. The ring gear includes a cut-out about its peripheral edge. The shaft of the reel assembly is rotatably interconnected to the ring gear via a series of gear reductions. After a predetermined about of tether has been paid out, the pawl encounters the cut-out about the ring gear. This, in turn, causes the pawl to engage the reel shaft to prevent further rotation. The maximum payout is determined by the initial spacing between the pawl and the cut-out.

  • Patent number: 8662453
Abstract: An air intake for a supersonic air-breathing flight vehicle introduces or injects fluid in order to create predetermined regions of separated flow and an attendant fluid shear layer. This shear layer forms an aerodynamic boundary for the capture flow with a profile determined and optimised by appropriate injection of fluid. The aerodynamic boundary so generated replaces mechanically moveable solid surfaces used to vary the geometry of prior-art intakes. Use of an introduced or injected fluid can provide an advantage of a variable geometry, but with reduced weight and reduced mechanical complexity. In some embodiments, the injection of fluid has the effect of re-energizing any ingested boundary layer, thus obviating the conventional requirement for a bleed system to provide boundary layer control.

Abstract: A dental syringe may include a replaceable valve cartridge containing one or more valves which may use a seating surface and an opposing seating surface with a relative angle formed between the two surfaces. The relative angle allows for regulation of the flow of fluid. The replaceable valve cartridge may also include a system to remove a residual liquid from a tip of a dental syringe. Additionally, the replaceable valve cartridge may include a seal that prevents bleed-over of fluids. Further, the dental syringe may comprise a tip retention insert which may use either a pair of plates or a plurality of ball bearings to retain the dental syringe tips. An alternate embodiment of a valve may comprise features intended to reduce the force necessary to actuate the valve. A metering screw and/or flow-control groove with increasing depth may control of flow through the valve.
