Abstract: Methods and systems of delaying the execution of a display event based on a detected user gaze are provided. Display events may be generated and executed to change a user interface of a display. For example, an autocorrect algorithm can automatically replace a typed word with a corrected word in a text field, generating a display event that causes the corrected word to be displayed instead of the typed word. Such a display event may be executed as soon as possible after its generation. However, a gaze detection device can obtain information that indicates a user is not looking at the typed word on the display. In such a situation, it may be more intuitive to delay the execution of the display event until the gaze information indicates that the user is looking at the typed word.

Abstract: A visual display includes hidden reference illuminators adapted to emit invisible light for generating corneo-scleral reflections on an eye watching a screen surface of the display. The tracking of such reflections and the pupil center provides input to gaze tracking. A method for equipping and an LCD with a reference illuminator are also provided. Also provides are a system and method for determining a gaze point of an eye watching a visual display that includes reference illuminators. The determination of the gaze point may be based on an ellipsoidal cornea model.

Abstract: A unique input mechanism for controlling several operations of an electronic device is provided. Using the unique input mechanism, which may be the single input mechanism for providing user inputs to the electronic device, a user may provide different inputs or combinations of inputs to control different operations based on the current mode or capacity of the electronic device. For example, a single, short click of a button may control a media operation (e.g., play/pause) in a media mode, and the same input may control a telephony operation (e.g., initiate/terminate call) in a telephony mode. In some embodiments, different inputs may be associated with different types of operations. The unique input mechanism may include, for example, a button, a switch, a key, or an actuator.

Abstract: An apparatus (1) for rotating objects (40) on screens (9) defines a hand axis (20) in response to 3D position information related to the hands (21, 22) of a user and detects a changed orientation of the hand axis (20) with respect to a 3D space and calculates a rotation for the object (40) on the screen (9) in response to said detecting. This way, to rotate the object (40) on the screen (9), an imaginary copy of the object (40) is considered to be inside an imaginary ball (41) held by the user, which imaginary ball (41) is being rotated. The changed orientation of the hand axis (20) comprises changes in angles between the hand axis (20) and the axes (31, 32, 33) of the 3D space. To improve stability in case of each one of said changes being unequal to zero, the apparatus (1) further detects the angles and compares the respective angles with respective thresholds and reduces or weights the respective changes in response to respective comparison results.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an electronic system and a pointing device thereof. The pointing device includes an image sensor and a processor. The image sensor sequentially generates a first image frame and a second image frame, wherein the first image frame has two images related to a sensed target, and the second image frame has one image related to the sensed target. The processor determines one image position representing the sensed target using the first image frame, and subsequently determines one image displacement using the first image frame and the second image frame.
