Abstract: An integrated drive circuit for multi-segment electroluminescent displays is provided. During a charging phase, the electroluminescent segments are charged by a common charge circuit, and partially discharged using separate discharge circuits associated with individual electroluminescent segments. A controller provides essentially independent control over the respective discharge circuits so, by the end of the charging phase, the EL segments can be charged to correspondingly different final voltages. Then during a discharging phase following the charging phase, the electroluminescent segments are completely discharged, thereby emitting an intensity of light that varies roughly in proportion to the final accumulated voltage. The controller can be pre-programmed with a spatial-temporal light pattern so that, using the disclosed integrated drive circuit, the electroluminescent display can be operated to generate rudimentary animations.

Abstract: A graphics processor architecture provides for scan conversion and ray tracing approaches to visible surface determination as concurrent and separate processes. Surfaces can be identified for shading by scan conversion and ray tracing. Data produced by each can be normalized, so that instances of shaders, being executed on a unified shading computation resource, can shade surfaces originating from both ray tracing and rasterization. Such resource also may execute geometry shaders. The shaders can emit rays to be tested for intersection by the ray tracing process. Such shaders can complete, without waiting for those emitted rays to complete. Where scan conversion operates on tiles of 2-D screen pixels, the ray tracing can be tile aware, and controlled to prioritize testing of rays based on scan conversion status. Ray population can be controlled by feedback to any of scan conversion, and shading.

Abstract: The present disclosure involves a method of providing three-dimensional imaging in a medical environment. A first three-dimensional (3D) model is provided. The first 3D model represents a part of human anatomy or an implantable medical device. The first 3D model contains a plurality of vertices. A second 3D model is then generated by performing a vertex-reduction process to the first 3D model. The second 3D model has fewer vertices than the first 3D model. A shading texture is applied to the second 3D model to obtain a texture-shaded second 3D model. The applying the shading texture is performed using the first 3D model as a reference so that the texture-shaded second 3D model resembles the first 3D model.

Abstract: A method of two dimensional (2D) content data conversion to three dimensional (3D) content data involves receiving 3D video content and 2D user interface content data via a 2D to 3D content conversion module. A displacement represented by disparity data that defines a separation of left eye and right eye data for 3D rendering of the 2D user interface content data is determined. 3D user interface content data is generated at a 3D depth on the display based upon the received 2D user interface content data and the determined displacement. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: User-specified GPU kernel functions and input data sets are sent over a Web service to a remote computer equipped with a programmable GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) for execution. The Web service then returns resulting data to a client, which uses the same Web service. This is accomplished by incorporating a serialized request formed from the GPU kernel function code and input data set by using JavaScript® Object Notation (JSON) serialization. The request is then sent to the remote computer and programmable GPU, where the request is deserialized, kernel code is compiled, and input data copied to the GPU memory on the remote computer. The GPU kernel function is then executed, and output data is copied from the GPU memory on the remote computer and reserialized using JSON to form a serialized response. The serialized response is then returned to the client via the web service.

Abstract: Allocation of memory registers for shaders by a processor is described herein. For each shader, registers are allocated based on the shader's level of complexity. Simpler shader instances are restricted to a smaller number of memory registers. More complex shader instances are allotted more registers. To do so, developers' high level shading level (HLSL) language includes template classes of shaders that can later be replaced by complex or simple versions of the shader. The HLSL is converted to bytecode that can be used to rasterize pixels on a computing device.
