Abstract: Abrasive compacts, in particular ultrahard polycrystalline abrasive compacts, are made under high pressure/high temperature conditions and are characterized in that they include a coarser grained fraction of ultrahard particles distributed non-percolatively throughout a finer grained fraction of ultrahard particles, which may be regarded as a finer grained ultrahard particle matrix, in such a way that the individual coarser grains are largely isolated from one another. It therefore performs as a matrix of highly wear resistant finer grained material interspersed with larger grains, offering a structure that has advantageous wear and impact performance over the behaviours of the two components individually or otherwise combined.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-layer control device and method of making that may be attached to a receptacle that provides a hermetic and/or water, fluid resistant seal but allows for the expulsion of air pressure from the interior of a receptacle. The multi-layer control device, more specifically a valve, has a fluid layer such as a low viscosity fluid that is applied during the manufacturing of the valve and incorporated into the layer of the valve. The valve includes a base layer that is provided over a first adhesive layer, a second adhesive layer is provided over the base layer, a fluid layer, a third adhesive layer and a cover layer. The second adhesive and fluid layers are discontinuous and are applied to the perimeter of the base layer, respectively. The base layer, first adhesive layer, and material layer have at least one aperture to facilitate the release of gas or fluid from the interior of a receptacle.

Abstract: A laser capsule marking system and method may comprise at least two indexing wheels, a feeding mechanism, a laser marker, a first inspection system, a rejection subsystem, a reject verification sensor, and a collection device. The wheels are coaxial and have respective circumferential peripheries with multiple open pockets distributed thereabout. Each pocket is configured to releasably receive a pharmaceutical capsule doped with pigment particles reactive to laser light. The indexing wheels are configured to be incrementally rotated in alternating indexing fashion for transporting discrete arrays of respective pockets through a loading zone, an inspection zone, a marking zone, a reject zone, and an unloading zone. An actuatable reject block may be provided to simultaneously blow a rejected capsule from its pocket, and draw it in for transport to a rejection bin. Each circumferential periphery may be comprised of multiple arcuate shoes removably and replaceably secured to their respective indexing wheel.

Abstract: A plastic container comprises an upper portion including a finish defining an opening into the container, a lower portion including a base defining a standing surface, a sidewall extending between the upper portion and the lower portion, the sidewall defining a longitudinal axis, and at least one substantially transversely-oriented pressure panel located in the lower portion. The pressure panel is movable between an outwardly-inclined position and an inwardly-inclined position to compensate for a change of pressure inside the container. The standing surface defines a standing plane, and the entire pressure panel is located between the standing plane and the upper portion of the container when the pressure panel is in the outwardly-inclined position.

The established effective length of film is calculated with the formula: where: Sf. initial length of film is determined on the basis of dimension and/or shape of the load; w: rotation speed around a wrapping axis of the unwinding apparatus or of the load; Vt: movement speed of the unwinding apparatus parallel to the rotation axis; ?max: maximum rotation speed around the wrapping axis of the unwinding apparatus or of the load; ?corr: corrective parameter.

Abstract: In a process for introducing individual products into containers by means of an automated line comprising at least two insertion robots, individual products are individually gripped and transferred to containers inside a transfer region. The individual products and the containers are delivered in synchronization on at least one transportation device for the individual products and on at least one transportation device for the containers. The delivery of a next container to be filled into the transfer region of the automated line is controlled by a metering device. Metering is effected at a position relative to the exit of the transfer region.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a three-panel lidding device used to seal a food container. Such devices are particularly useful for covering and sealing a plastic food container, eliminating (or diminishing) the need for an outer carton and the clear film membrane that traditionally covers a food container. The lidding device may contain all brand identifiers, product messaging, ingredient list, instructions (e.g., opening and cooking) printed directly on the device. The device may also allow for venting of the food container during cooking and may then be removed for serving. The device may further provide a foot panel that allows the food product container/lidding device to sit upright, enhancing store front and freezer display options.

Abstract: A method for engine-out soot flow rate prediction of an exhaust gas treatment system is provided. A measured level of oxides of nitrogen in the exhaust gas treatment system is received. An engine fuel injection timing and air-fuel ratio of an engine producing the oxides of nitrogen are also received. An engine timing factor is determined based on the engine fuel injection timing. An engine air-fuel ratio factor is determined based on the engine air-fuel ratio. An engine-out soot flow rate prediction is generated based on the measured level of oxides of nitrogen, the engine timing factor, and the engine air-fuel ratio factor.

Abstract: A radiator screen arrangement (10) for a combine harvester is provided. A screen (12) through which air, which is to pass through a radiator, is drawn by a fan. Rotating means (16) are provided for rotating the screen. Blanking means (18), past which the screen is rotated, provides a blanked off area of the screen which is not subject to the induction pressure of the fan and from which particles can therefore be more easily removed. The arrangement is characterised in that the blanking means has a leading edge (18a) which is of generally spiral shape so that the particles on the outer surface of the screen which enter the blanked-off area can reach the outer periphery (12d) of the rotating screen without being exposed to the induction pressure of the fan and hence have an improved chance of being detached from the screen.
