  • Patent number: 8737349
Abstract: An automatic and network-transparent “handover convenience information support” method for a subscriber of a primary communications process in which an handover takes place—wherein this handover process can comprise arbitrary times prior or after the “actual handover”. “Convenience information support” means that this PTCP-SUBC has not necessarily requested the convenience information, but he nevertheless regards this then unasked-for support as convenient or helpful, such as for example a passenger on a flight regarding associated announcements/references/measures at the departure or arrival airport. As opposed to such often uniform measures the convenience information is as a rule individually configurable by someone affected by it.

  • Patent number: 8737360
Abstract: Techniques for performing power control and handoff are described. In an aspect, power control (PC) is supported with multiple PC modes such as an up-down PC mode and an erasure-based PC mode. One PC mode may be selected for use. Signaling may be sent to indicate the selected PC mode. If the up-down PC mode is selected, then a base station estimates the received signal quality for a terminal and sends PC commands to direct the terminal to adjust its transmit power. If the erasure-based PC mode is selected, then the base station sends erasure indications that indicate whether codewords received from the terminal are erased or non-erased. For both PC modes, the terminal adjusts its transmit power based on the power control feedback (e.g., PC commands and/or erasure indications) to achieve a target level of performance (e.g., a target erasure rate for the codewords). The erasure indications may also be used for handoff.

  • Patent number: 8737362
Abstract: A method for interference-minimizing code assignment and system parameter selection for code division multiple access (CDMA) networks is disclosed. The method is performed at a base station or mobile station configured to operate in a CDMA radio network. The method includes receiving transmissions from user devices seeking to access the CDMA radio network. A spreading code is selected for a first user device seeking to access the network, using at least one cross-correlation parameter, to reduce multiple access interference between communications involving the first user device and other devices using the CDMA network. The method does not require knowledge of the active user codes or even the codebook from which these codes are assigned. Furthermore, it does not require knowledge of bit or chip epoch or the received powers of active users. However, the method can benefit from such knowledge in several ways, examples of which are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8737371
Abstract: The invention relates to optimizing a data path between two communication nodes. A route optimization agent (ROA) is determined in the current network of the second communication node, preferably on the data path between the two communication nodes. Then, an IP tunnel is established between the first communication node and the ROA, the IP tunnel and the corresponding security association of said IP tunnel being based on the home address of the first communication node in its home network. The first communication node may have two IP tunnels based on the same home address, one to its home agent and one to the ROA. Corresponding routing entries and binding cache entries need to be established in the ROA and the first communication node so that all data packets between the two communication nodes are exchanged via the established IP tunnel over the ROA.

  • Patent number: 8737376
Abstract: A frontend module for Time Division Duplex (TDD) with Carrier Aggregation (CA), wherein the frontend module reuses the band selection filters for the aggregated bands and provides switched connections to antenna and transmitter/receiver according to the Uplink (UL)/Downlink (DL) configuration. The use of switches on both the antenna side and the transmitter/receiver side of the frontend module enables the reuse of the band selection filters. The frontend module according to the present invention reduces the number of required filters to only one filter for each TDD-CA Component Carrier (CC) band. Thus, the frontend module avoids unnecessary band selection filters, and thereby also controls the cost of implementation of frontend modules in wireless units operating in the TDD-CA mode.

  • Patent number: 8737378
Abstract: Techniques for synchronization of clocks in nodes in a network are described. In one example, a node times or measures a synchronization timeout period. During the synchronization timeout period, the node may hear a beacon. In that event, the node may reset its clock using a time indicator found within the beacon. If the node does not hear a beacon before the end of the synchronization timeout period, the node may send a beacon request to one of its parents. In response, the parent node will broadcast a beacon, which may be heard by other nodes in the vicinity of the parent node. Upon receipt of the beacon and an included time indicator, the node will update its clock. Upon clock update, another synchronization timeout period is then started and the cycle is repeated, thereby maintaining synchronization of the clock with clocks of other nodes.

The communication predelivery receiver is configured and connected within a network so the first IP addressed data and the second IP addressed data are processed differently. For the first initiated communication, the first payload data is converted, after the point in time at which the screener received the first IP addressed data, from IP addressed first payload data to another network signal.

Abstract: A gateway unit which relays communication between a call control network and a terminal having no call control function. The gateway unit includes: a session control section which substitutively performs call control processing in call control communication performed by the terminal by way of the call control network and reports a band required for the call control communication to the call control network; and a band adjustment section which determines an updated value of a band of the call control communication based on a communication packet in the call control communication, received from the terminal. The session control section reports the updated value to the call control network as the band required by the call control communication.

Abstract: A system for processing packets in a distributed architecture system includes a main control board, at least one service board, and at least one interface board. The system determines a specified CPU corresponding to a received packet; and, by the service board corresponding to the CPU, processes the received packet. The received packets are processed in the service board corresponding to the specified CPU. Therefore, the packets are evenly distributed to all service boards for being processed, the workload of the main control board is relieved, the service throughput is increased significantly, and the packet processing efficiency of the whole architecture is improved.

  • Patent number: 8737396
Abstract: A server associates a permitted terminal identifier that identifies a permitted terminal permitted to perform tunnel communication to a first router with an endpoint address of a tunnel used in the communication of a permitted terminal. A second router that encapsulates a packet received from a requesting terminal, which requests the tunnel communication, inquires the server about an endpoint address associated with an identifier of the requesting terminal. The server notifies the second router of the target address that is the endpoint address associated with the identifier of the requesting terminal. The second router transmits the encapsulated packet to the target address. The first router to which the target address is allocated regards a received packet received at the target address as a packet used in the tunnel communication of the permitted terminal and decapsulates the received packet and then transmits the decapsulated packet to a communication destination.
