  • Patent number: 8733984
Abstract: The problem addressed by the present invention consists in providing an LED luminaire which corresponds to the known shapes for incandescent bulbs both in terms of contour and size and which enables illumination similar to that of an incandescent bulb by means of the light-emitting means both in terms of the emission response and the luminous intensity of said luminaire. The heat sink which is required for technical reasons and which bears the light-emitting means itself predetermines the shape of the incandescent bulb and the emission of the LEDs for this purpose. The heat sink can in this case be in the form of one body or can comprise a plurality of separate heat sinks, which are arranged about a central axis so as to be associated with the respective light-emitting means.

  • Patent number: 8733992
Abstract: A fog lamp for a vehicle is disclosed. Light leaving an LED is collected by a refractive/TIR lens. The central portion of the refractive/TIR lens is purely refractive, while the peripheral portion of the lens includes a total internal reflection off an exterior surface of the lens. The refractive/TIR lens converges the light to a focus at or near a laterally-elongated aperture in a light baffle. Light exiting the aperture diverges and passes through an anamorphic lens, which reduces the angular extent of the beam in the vertical direction and increases the angular extent in the lateral direction. The full fog lamp may include multiple pairs of LEDs and respective refractive/TIR lenses, all arranged coplanar, parallel and laterally adjacent to each other. The LED/lens pairs may all direct light through a single light baffle and through a single anamorphic lens.

  • Patent number: 8734013
Abstract: This invention describes a method of inspecting unidentified packages placed on the floor or ground, or on desktops or counters. The method uses a transmissive x-ray system mounted on a small mobile platform such as robots. X-ray is emitted from the source directed away from the platform and detected by a detector arm supported on an extended member attached to a vertical member such that the object to be inspected can pass in between the detector arm and the x-ray source. To scan portions of the object close to the ground, the height of the x-ray source is lowered close to the ground, and during transportation, it is raised up so that there is more clearance from the ground. To scan objects located on higher levels such as desks, the detector arm has an angular movement greater than ninety degrees with respect to an axis that has a vertical component.

  • Patent number: 8734018
Abstract: A fluid dynamic bearing device includes a resin member capable of suppressing the intrusion of a lubricating oil as much as possible even when carbon fibers are compounded. A housing part as the resin member can be obtained by injection-molding a resin composition in which PPS is a base resin, and carbon fibers are compounded. The housing part is in contact with an ester-based lubricating oil filled in the inside of the bearing. The plurality of carbon fibers bound with a binder material not containing an urethane resin are cut and the carbon fibers minced by cutting are compounded into PPS to thereby obtain the above-described resin composition.

  • Patent number: 8734020
Abstract: A bearing assembly with a sensor, includes an annular, synthetic resin sensor holder supported on an outer race using a circumferential groove of the outer race so as to be strongly fixed in position by a spring member having circumferential half-split elastic recovery portions. The spring member is a square sectional wire and includes a main portion fitted in an annular groove of the sensor holder, and opposite end portions that circumferentially protrude from the annular groove and are located inside an open recess of the sensor holder. The opposite end portions of the spring member overlap axially when fitted in the annular groove, and abut and are deflected when one of the end portions is shifted to remove the overlapping. Forces caused by elastic recovery of the deflected end portions increase the force of the main portion pushing the sensor holder in a radially outward direction.
