  • Patent number: 8745993
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a refrigerating apparatus and a method of controlling the same. The method includes lowering a temperature in a storage chamber to a freezing point temperature zone by adjusting cold air supplied to the storage chamber, and lowering the temperature in the storage chamber to a temperature below a freezing point by increasing an amount of the cold air supplied to the storage chamber, when it is determined that a temperature of articles stored in the storage chamber is stabilized in the freezing point temperature zone by the cold air. When the surface temperature and the center temperature of the stored articles are cooled close to the freezing point and are then cooled again to the freezing temperature below the freezing point, super-cooling of the stored articles is carried out for a short time, the surfaces and the centers of the stored articles start to freeze simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 8745997
Abstract: An air conditioning system for a start-stop vehicle employs a compressor with a variable displacement. A controller determines a normal Climate Thermal Load (CTL) value for controlling a variable stroke of the variable displacement compressor. A stop event is detected in response to a speed of the vehicle and the occurrence of a predetermined deceleration. During the stop event, the variable stroke is increased by an amount determined in response to the normal CTL value, the speed of the vehicle, and a measure of the deceleration of the vehicle so that an evaporator temperature within the air conditioning system is allowed to decrease while the vehicle is stopping so that climate comfort can be maintained even while the engine is shut off during the subsequent time that the vehicle is stopped.

  • Patent number: 8746020
Abstract: A locking cable device, which generally inhibits the theft of portable and more specifically inhibits the theft of expensive, electronic devices such as computers, laptops, and projectors. The security device works by use of a hook that hooks through an opening in an outside wall of the equipment to be secured. The hole can be an existing hole in the outside wall of the equipment, either round, square, or rectangular, such as a vent slot or security slot. A user may also add the opening by merely drilling an aperture or slot, sized appropriately for the corresponding hook on the security device. The hooked position is maintained by use of a housing locked on to the cable, close enough to the equipment being secured that the hook cannot be moved to an angle necessary for removal.

  • Patent number: 8746024
Abstract: A rebound locking mechanism (10) is taught that consists of a spring loaded shaft (28) having an activating flat (34) thereon, a spring loaded latch (78) interfacing with the shaft activating flat and a rebound plate (40) attached to the shaft. An inertia flywheel (56) having an offset protruding striker (58) is in alignment beneath said rebound plate, with an electric motor (60) rotating the flywheel. In operation when the motor rotates the flywheel in a counter clockwise direction, the striker hits a top surface of the rebound plate and bounces the flywheel clockwise until the striker hits beneath the rebound plate causing the shaft to rotate realigning the flat permitting the latch to rotate under spring urging and thereby repositioning the catch from a locked position into an unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 8746026
Abstract: A method for determining the quality of a crimped connection between a conductor and a contact includes operating a crimping device to exert a crimping force on the conductor and the contact. From the crimping force curve that occurs during the crimping, a normalized force-distance crimping force curve is derived and a compression area is determined which lies under a reference crimping force curve. The crimping force curve and the reference crimping force curve are subdivided into several zones, the subdivision taking place under consideration of the size of the compression area. A further area that lies under the crimping force curve is determined and used to infer the quality of the crimped connection. A device for performing the method is provided.

Abstract: A gas spring mount and related method for metal forming dies includes a one-piece, split clamping ring having a generally ovate plan shape with two spaced apart axes of symmetry. A generally circular clamping portion extends around the first axis, and is shaped to receive a gas spring body therein. A hook-shaped end extends around the second axis, and is shaped to receive a tapered head mounting member therein. A resilient free end is located operably between the clamping portion and the hook-shaped end portion, whereby tightening of the mounting member shifts the hook-shaped end outwardly and the free end inwardly to constrictingly pull the clamping ring securely against the gas spring body, and contemporaneously attach the assembly to an associated die member.
