  • Patent number: 8746085
Abstract: An extensible frame adapted to receive and maintain a rectilinear container applied upon an interior ledge extensible frame. Two or more orthogonally aligned sensor assemblies are provided to measure deflection of panels forming the container when a static or dynamic load is applied upon an uppermost panel. Each sensor assembly outputs a signal corresponding to a deflection of a panel induced by the load applied upon the uppermost panel. Signals output from the sensor assemblies are received and processed by an output processing unit in either a human cognizable or machine readable format. The amount deflection measured by the sensor assemblies corresponds to an amount of bulge of a panel when a defined load is applied.

  • Patent number: 8746097
Abstract: A drive train, which has an internal combustion engine with a crankshaft and a parallel shift transmission with two part drive trains, which each have one transmission input shaft. One shaft is formed as a hollow shaft around the other shaft, and a dual clutch, which is received rotatably on the hollow shaft, is connected to the crankshaft and has two friction clutches and two clutch plates each assigned to one clutch and are each connected to one transmission input shaft. Each clutch plate has a torsional vibration damper with a working range which is smaller than a maximum torque of the engine. • Patent number: 8746099
Abstract: A transmission control system to enable smooth engagement of meshing engagement device when establishing a forward gear position by engaging the meshing engagement device and a forward clutch while a vehicle is stationary. For example, when a synchro device is operated so as to establish a predetermined forward gear position, it becomes difficult to smoothly couple a first speed drive gear to the input shaft by the synchro device. However, temporarily engaging a reverse clutch during the process of operation of the synchro device allows a reverse torque to act on the first speed drive gear to apply torsion to a power transmission path between the first speed drive gear and a driven wheel. Furthermore, a repulsive force is applied and generates backlash between the synchro device and the first speed drive gear, thus enabling smooth operation of the synchro device.

  • Patent number: 8746105
Abstract: A bicycle operating device includes a housing, a control member, a linearly moving member, a transmission, a user operating member and an intermediate element. The control member rotates on the housing for controlling a control cable. The linearly moving member moves on the housing for linear displacement between first and second positions. The transmission operatively couples the linearly moving member to the control member. The transmission converts the linear displacement of the linearly moving member from the first position to the second position into a rotation of the control member toward a first rotational direction. The user operating member is movably mounted to the housing. The intermediate element moves relative to the linearly moving member and the user operating member to transmit a movement of the user operating member to the linearly moving member for moving the linearly moving member from the first position to the second position.

  • Patent number: 8746106
Abstract: A bicycle operating device operates a bicycle component by moving a winding member that moves a take-up member relative to a fixed member in first and second directions. A positioning member is movably arranged with respect to the fixed member between a non-holding position and a holding position to selectively engage a positioning ratchet that is fixed to the take-up member. In the holding position, the positioning member prevents the take-up member from moving in the second direction by selectively engaging one of at least three engaging portions of the positioning ratchet. A preventing member is movably arranged with respect to the positioning ratchet such that the preventing member prevents the positioning member from engaging an intermediate engaging portion of the positioning ratchet while the winding member moves the take-up member in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 8746108
Abstract: A damping system for a shift cable is disclosed, in which vibrations and noises that are generated by a transmission and transmitted into the interior of a vehicle through a shift cable are considerably reduced across a damper, that is positioned in a bottleneck section of a socket housing and contacts with bottleneck section, such that it is possible to effectively exclude vibrations and noises transmitted into the interior of a vehicle. Further, the present invention is advantageous in terms of the cost and weight, because a rubber damper is used instead of a mass damper, and it is possible to reduce vibrations and noises without increasing force for operating a shift lever and maximally prevent the function of reducing vibrations and noises from being deteriorated by frictional wear.

  • Patent number: 8746122
Abstract: An armor system with a composite laminate having at least four alternating layers (two bi-layers) of a first material and a second material, the first material having a lower acoustic impedance than the second material. The first material is a viscoelastic polymer with a glass transition temperature less than the expected operational temperature range, and the second material can be a hard material such as steel, aluminum, or ceramic. The laminate can include many alternating layers of elastomer and hard material, and can be adhered or affixed to a thicker armor substrate. Additional protective elements such as corrugated metal-ceramic panels and armored glass cylinders can be added to improve resistance to armor piercing rounds, explosively formed penetrators, or other threats.

  • Patent number: 8746125
Abstract: An automatic rifle bolt carrier with a fluted boss for the AR15/M16 family of firearms has been provided. The rear of the bolt carrier has been provided with a boss having bearing surfaces which are in operational contact with the interior of the host firearm's upper receiver to prevent the carrier from tilting while it is reciprocating during normal operation. The boss and rearward end of the bolt carrier are provided with flutes which allow water to flow between the buffer tube and upper receiver while the bolt carrier is reciprocating during normal operation, enabling a properly equipped firearm to be used during over the beach operations. The bolt carrier also includes a scallop cut located about the top of its backmost end which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bolt carrier.

  • Patent number: 8746126
Abstract: An annular piston system for a firearm comprises a barrel, a gas block assembly, a piston, and a spring. The barrel has multiple sections lengthwise, one of the sections having at least one gas port hole to vent gas from the barrel. The gas block assembly is disposed annularly around the barrel and is adjustable to control an amount of gas flowing out of the barrel through the at least one gas port hole. The piston is disposed annularly around the barrel and can move longitudinally along the barrel in response to being pushed by the gas flowing out of the barrel. The spring is disposed annularly around the third section of the barrel and coupled to the piston. The spring limits a distance that the piston can move longitudinally along the barrel when the piston is pushed to move by the gas flowing out of the barrel.

  • Patent number: 8746129
Abstract: In a rodless cylinder 1, a band accommodating depression 60 having a transverse inner surface 62 extending along the width of a slit 12 of an inner hole 10 of a tube 2 and a wall surface 64 inclined with respect to the transverse inner surface 62 is formed on each side of the inner opening of the slit 12. In the case where one of the edges of the inner seal band 42 comes into contact with one of the wall surfaces 64, the other edge of the inner seal band 42 comes into contact with the other one of the transverse inner surfaces 62, while at the same time securing a distance I between the inner seal band 42 and an inner opening 58 of the slit 12. Once a fluid is introduced into the tube 2, the inner seal band 42 can be bent toward the slit 12 due to the distance I even in the case where one of the edges of the inner seal band 42 comes into contact with the transverse inner surface 62 and the other edge comes into contact with the wall surface 64.

  • Patent number: 8746134
Abstract: A matchbox oven is disclosed. The matchbox oven includes a housing, a slider, a mover, a heat source and a blower. The housing includes a cavity having two openings. The mover moves the slider in and out of the cavity through the two openings. The heat source provides heat to the cavity for heating up any food item placed within the cavity. The slider includes multiple stoppers to serve as oven covers for preventing heat within the cavity from escaping through the two openings. The slider can also be utilized as a heat sink for lowering the cavity's temperature during oven operation. When a new cook temperature is substantially lower than the temperature of the cavity, the blower forces heated air within the cavity to exit through the two openings before the starting of and/or during the initial portion of a new cook cycle.
