  • Patent number: 8763919
Abstract: Method, system, and computer program product for generating a machine-readable code for an electronic document are disclosed. A user interface receives an input for defining one or more areas of interest in the electronic document. One or more location identifiers are determined corresponding to each of the one or more areas of interest. The machine-readable code is then generated for the electronic document based on the one or more location identifiers. Further, the machine-readable code is embedded in the electronic document. The machine-readable code when scanned and decoded enables extracting of one or more descriptors (e.g., text written in various locations specified by the one or more location identifiers). The one or more descriptors are used for at least one of naming the electronic document or determining the one or more attributes of the message.

  • Patent number: 8763925
Abstract: A laminar flow water jet system has a housing with a water channel, the housing creating a laminar flow in the water channel from the water flowing through the housing. A lighting element is provided with a controller. The laminar flow passes through at least one jetting element having a cup portion and a nozzle portion and jetting a laminar flow tube from the laminar flow passing through the water channel in the housing at the base portion. The laminar flow tube is ejected from the nozzle as a laminar flow jet having a smoothed tubular surface jacket and being lit by the lighting element. An additive source drips additive into the cup portion at a rate controlled by the controller, the additive being absorbed by capillary action by the laminar flow tube as it is passed through the nozzle to become the laminar flow jet. • Patent number: 8763926
Abstract: An oil lamp-type apparatus or a Kukui pot candle device for achieving the illumination and the appearance of an ignited oil lamp. This is achieved by illuminating water flowing upward (e.g., substantially vertically to provide a flame-shaped element or small fountain of water above the pool surface) using a light source directing its light output upward through the water. The flame-shaped element has kinetic and dynamic movement similar to a flame on an oil lamp or candle wick due to the combination of the water flowing upward and the water falling nearly straight down back into a pool about the water outlet. Further, the effect is achieve by only illuminating the liquid in the flame-shaped element with the vertically upward-direct light stream and not by shining light from the side, from above, or even from an adjacent location.

In this regard, a respective error for at least one state associated with a hose or a drogue is provided, along with an indication of a current state of the drogue. An actuator command is then determined based upon the current state of the drogue, the respective error for at least one state associated with the hose or the drogue, and a current command that has been previously issued to the actuator. A command, that is, an updated command, may then be issued to the actuator carried by the drogue in order to reduce or eliminate the state error(s).

Abstract: Spacecraft transfer orbit operations include separating a spacecraft from a launch vehicle, while in a launch vehicle transfer orbit. The spacecraft includes a propulsion subsystem and a spacecraft controller that controls the spacecraft in a three-axis stabilized mode. With the spacecraft continuously in the three-axis stabilized mode, one or more orbit raising maneuvers are performed by firing either or both of a chemical thruster and an electric thruster firing. Any two consecutive orbit raising maneuvers are separated by a respective intervening coast period. While in the three-axis stabilized mode, the spacecraft does not rotate about any axis at a rate greater than 0.1 degree/sec and dumping of momentum stored in a reaction wheel system is avoided.

  • Patent number: 8763958
Abstract: A multi-element airfoil system includes an airfoil element having a leading edge region and a skin element coupled to the airfoil element. A slat deployment system is coupled to the slat and the skin element, and is capable of deploying and retracting the slat and the skin element. The skin element substantially fills the lateral gap formed between the slat and the airfoil element when the slat is deployed. The system further includes an uncoupling device and a sensor to remove the skin element from the gap based on a critical angle-of-attack of the airfoil element. The system can alternatively comprise a trailing edge flap, where a skin element substantially fills the lateral gap between the flap and the trailing edge region of the airfoil element. In each case, the skin element fills a gap between the airfoil element and the deployed flap or slat to reduce airframe noise.
