Abstract: A system, a method, and a computer readable media for identifying a user-initiated log file record in a log file are provided. The log file has a user-initiated log file record and a repeating pattern of log file records automatically generated by a software program. The system allows a user to identify first and second timestamp values corresponding to first and second times which identify a time interval of interest in the log file. The system further analyzes the log file to identify the user-initiated log file record having a timestamp value between the first and second timestamp values. The system further identifies the repeating pattern of log file records in the log file.

The systems and methods discussed herein include an encoder, dictionary, decoder, literal string and control output. The discussed systems and methods encode data transmitted over a communications channel through the use of a dynamically compiled dictionary. Upon reviewing the characters within the transmitted data in view of the dictionary, an encoded/compressed output string is created. Such output string may also be decoded in a similar fashion via a dynamically compiled dictionary.

Abstract: Genetic data may be compressed efficiently by selecting for each bi-allelic marker, from among multiple compression algorithms with different associated storage requirements that depend on the minor allele frequency of the respective marker, the algorithm that has the lowest storage requirements. Efficient approaches compress, store, and load pedigree file data. A hybrid method is used that selects between multiple alternative compression algorithms whose performance depends on the frequency of certain observable genetic variations. The hybrid method may achieve higher compression ratios than PLINK or PBAT. Further, it results in a compressed data format that, generally, does not require any overhead memory space and CPU time for decompression, and, consequently, has shorter loading times for compressed files than the binary format in PLINK or PBAT.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a data compression device includes a receiving unit, generating unit, a selecting unit, and a compressing unit. The receiving receives input data pieces. The generating unit generates starting point candidates representing the data having an error within a threshold value with respect to starting point data input at a first timing. The selecting unit refers to the starting point candidates, end point data input at a second timing, and intermediate data input at a timing in between the first timing and the second timing; and selects the starting point candidate which, as compared to the other candidates, has a greater number of pieces of the intermediate data approximated using the starting point candidate and using the end point data in such a way that the error is within the threshold value. The compressing unit outputs the selected starting point candidate and the end point data.

Abstract: A method, process, and associated systems for ranking elements of an answer set retrieved by a conceptual search engine in response to a set of queried concepts submitted as a conceptual query. A processor of a computer system orders by relevance the semantic schemas that make up the retrieved answer set by first identifying a weight of each concept in a retrieved schema as a function of relationships among the concepts in that schema, then by identifying a semantic value of each queried concept in the retrieved schema as a function of the weights, and finally by identifying a semantic value of the query in the schema as a function of the semantic values of all queried concepts. The relative relevance of each schema may then be identified as a function of the semantic value of the query in that schema.

Abstract: Architecture that utilizes geotiles to return locally relevant results across a geographically distributed set of locations. As applied to retail operations the business entity may have a retail presence in many different geographical areas (e.g., regions) of a country. Each retail presence is processed to obtain the associated geographical coordinates, which are then utilized to select one or more geotiles of a mapping system. The geotile(s) for those geographical coordinates are than identified and related to the location. The business entity may be associated with a deal (offer) that is queried using a search engine. The relationships of the deal, retail stores, geographical coordinates of the retail stores, and related geotiles are memorialized in a feed document. Thus, when a query is made for the deal, the search engine accesses the feed document and returns the geotiles for visual presentation of the associated retailer as part of the search result.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to processing queries that utilize fact and/or dimension tables. In one aspect, a pre-join filtering phase precedes a star join. The necessary conditions for the pre-join filtering are considered for a given SQL query, including an estimated size of the hash table exceeding a threshold and presence of a local predicate either on the fact table or one or more dimension tables that is not a large dimension table. Once the necessary conditions are satisfied, the execution of the query exploits the pre-join filtering to build a pre-join output filter from columns of a reduced fact table that joins with each large dimension table. Thereafter, all the dimension tables and the fact table are joined in a star join while exploiting each pre-join filter. Accordingly, the order of when joins occur is changed in order to reduce the size of the fact table and to work from the fact table to reduce the size of large dimension tables.

The instructions may cause the system to store the priority score in a memory. The instructions may also cause the system to receive a search query, use the stored priority scores to identify files in the code repository responsive to the query, and generate data used to display the identified files. The display may include depictions of the scores used to calculate a priority score for the identified files.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a plurality of search results based on a search query from a user. A computing system determines a plurality of scores for each search result, each score generated by applying a distinct scoring function of a plurality of scoring functions to the search result. The computing system generates a plurality of diversity groups, each diversity group corresponding to a scoring function of the plurality of scoring functions, each diversity group including at least a subset of the plurality of search results ordered according to the scores generated by applying the scoring function to the at least the subset of the plurality of search results. The method further includes selecting at least one of the plurality of search results from each diversity group and sending the selected search results to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a social media tool that permits users to identify “what to do” in a particular geographical area in real-time. This is accomplished by utilizing the rate of support (or “likes”) localized topics receive from users in a particular geographical area. A topic can be a place, activity, event, concept, value, brand, etc. A user may operate an application on a computing device to see a list of popular topics in their area. The area may be any defined geographical area, such as a city, stadium, event, etc. The users can like topics, add new topics, add photos, comments, or other content to topics, and subscribe to (or “follow”) their favorite topics. Users can view topics in any geographical region, but they can only contribute likes or content for the particular geographical area in which they are present.
